Charnia sighed.
"You know he won't accept it" she said.

"That is up to him," Kaimiri said. "However, I believe he will...in time."

"Then why don't you get it?" Charnia snapped.

"Get what? That the good guys are always incorruptible?" Kaimiri barked out a laugh. "Trust me, they're not. Atem Ankh, when he was known as Yami, played the Seal or Orechalcos. Johan Andersen was possessed by Yubel. Judai Yuki became Haou, when his friends were killed in front of him. Yusei Fudo fell into the darkness in his own soul, after I broke that barrier for him. And Yuma Tsukumo, and Astral, fell when he played Varian's Force while in Zexal mode. And each one of them paid the price--in blood. " He ticked each off on his hand. "Good is not bright and shiny, as you would like to believe. It is just as imperfect and foggy as everything else, and oftentimes even worse than evil."

Rei drew. Sakura isn't doing well. She looks pale. She thought. That isn't natural. There's something...off about this duel. I need to end it quickly. "I summon Lady Ninja Yae in defense mode, and by discarding one WIND monster from my hand I can send all your face-down cards back to your hand." She activated two of her face-downs then. "I activate Flint and Steel Shell. Steel Shell gives my Blue Dragon Ninja 400 attack points at the cost of 200 defense. I'll equip Flint to your Lightpulsar Dragon, meaning that it looses 300 attack points and can't attack or change battle positions. Blue Dragon Ninja, attack Kamikaze's dragon!"

The ninja lept into action, efficiently destroying Sakura's dragon, but the Legend didn't look flapped at all. She was paler, but grinning. "Lightpulsar Dragon's effect activates. When he's sent from the field to the grave, I can special summon one DARK Dragon from my Graveyard." She said, calmly. "I choose Red-Eyes Black Dragon."

Kamikaze Sakura: 3400

"A page out of the history books, eh?" Rei said. "I place a face-down and end." She summoned Red-Eyes. That can mean several things; she could use the Inferno Fire Blast spell, and deal me 2400 damage, or she could equip it with Metalmorph and summon Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon. My face-down should be able to counter both.

"I wasn't meaning that" Charnia sighed, "I was meaning, that you brought it, so you should get it."

"Oh, I will." Kaimiri said. He tapped something on his slate. "Here, read the abilities of this darksteel orb." He handed the slate to Charina.

Selena drew. "First, I activate Card Trader from my hand." She said. "I can place one card from my hand into my deck, shuffle, and draw again." She did so, and grinned when she saw the card she drew. "I sacrifice my Red-Eyes to summon Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon from my hand, and he gains 300 ATK for every Dragon in my Graveyard, of which I have nine. That means his attack goes up to 2700! And, since I haven't normal summoned yet..." She slid another card into her Disk. "I activate Level Conversion Lab, which lets me change the level of one monster in my hand according to the roll of the die!"

It came up a 3. Selena grinned. "Great. Now, I summon my chosen card--Blue-Eyes White Dragon, in attack mode!"

Rei discarded two cards. "I activate Blue Dragon Ninja's effect; I can discard one Ninja and one Ninjitsu Art card to the Graveyard to negate one monster's effects this turn, and prevent it from attacking. I block your Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon!"

"Then I'll just have my Blue-Eyes destroy your Blue Dragon Ninja. Battle Phase! Blue-Eyes, attack her ninja!" The white dragon reared, and blasted the ninja into oblivion. "I end with one face-down. Your move."

Rei Honda: 3500

Charnia had a look at the abilities.
"You're mad! Crazy even! This is impossibe! Do you know how illegal this is?" she blurded out, "YOu know if you get caught, you will be killed and the curse will continue!"

Kaimiri smirked. "How do you know I don't want them to find this?"

Rei clutched her heart. The crowd was screaming, it was clear they wanted bloodshed. I felt that! I felt my monster die! She thought. This has to end; quickly! She drew. "I summon Flame Armor Ninja in defense mode, and thanks to his effect I can increase the level of one Ninja on my side of the field. This brings my Lady Ninja Yae up to level four." She grinned. "You know what this means; I overlay both of my Ninjas to Xyz summon Blade Armor Ninja!"

This needs to end. Quickly. "Next I activate Solidarity. Since I only have Warrior-Type monsters in my deck, all of my Warriors gain 800 attack points. This brings my Blade Armor Ninja up to 2600."

"He still isn't up to enough attack to take out my Red-Eyes Darkness or Blue-Eyes White Dragons." Sakura pointed out.

"I know that," Rei replied. "That's why I'm activating this card; Level Down. For every monster on your side of the field, your monsters lose one level. You've got two, so both of your monsters lose two levels. And for every level they lose, they also lose 400 attack points. That means your Red-Eyes Darkness's ATK goes down to 2100 and your Blue-Eyes goes down to 2200." She pointed. "Now, Blade Armor Ninja; attack her Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon!"

Sakura activated a spell. "I play Mist Body, which prevents my dragon's destruction. I still take damage, but my dragon remains on the field."

Kamikaze Sakura LP: 3300

"I end my turn. " Rei said. "Your move, Kamikaze Sakura."

"Um, hello. 'Laria' of course, and you know nothing escapes from her" Charnia sighed.

"Even the great Laria isn't all-seeing." Kaimiri said. "Besides, this will help us later on."

Selena switched off her implant as she drew. All we're doing is chipping away at each other's Life Points. This horror show has to end. She thought. I don't want to cause Rei any more pain than I have to, but I've got to do something. She flipped it back on. "I play the field spell, Mountain, which gives all my Dragons 200 extra attack and defense points." She said. "Next, I equip my Blue-Eyes with Metalmorph, giving him an additional 300 attack power. Finally, I use De-Spell to destroy your Level Down spell."

"I activate Spell Shield Type-8. It destroys your De-Spell." Rei countered.

"And I activate another Counter Counter." Selena replied. "Now, I'll attack your Blade Armor Ninja with my Blue-Eyes! He gains half of your Ninja's attack, bringing him up to 4600. Attack! Burst Stream of Destruction!"

The Ninja was blown away, and Rei screamed as she felt it die. Rei, I am so sorry. She thought. "I end."

Rei Honda LP: 1300

"How do you know?" Charnia asked, "there could be spies around."

"There aren't. I checked." Kaimiri pulled a scanner out of a pocket in his waistcoat. "This will detect and neutralize any kind of magick in the vicinity, regardless of its origin or who cast it. We are not being eavesdropped on, not even in person."

Rei hissed. Looks like Sakura has the same idea I do. She thought. While she'd like to win against an original Legend, she knew that it would be best if one of them lost quickly, and since Rei had the least Life Points left...

"I play Shot to the Head. This card reduces my Life Points by half, and I can draw one card." She drew. "Next, I play Last Turn, which destroys all but one monster on my side of the field and all on yours. Then you special summon one monster from your hand and they battle. The one whose monster is left standing is the winner. Pick your poison, Kamikaze Sakura, because the monster I'm keeping is my Blade Armored Ninja."

Sakura selected her card. "Then I summon Dark Horus in Attack mode."

The two monsters collided, and Sakura's dragon reduced Blade Armored Ninja to cinders. The duel end signal sounded, displaying Kamikaze Sakura as the winner.

"Not a bad duel, Rei." She said, extending a hand to the girl.

"We see about that" and with that, Charnia walked off.

Rei took her hand, before she collasped, bringing poor Sakura with her with a thump.

Yugi looked across the empty cell, trying to get out of the wall cuffs that he was in. He noticed something at the corner of his eye and saw the entitiy, popping out of the wall.
"Yugi, we have a problem" she said.

Selena was brought with when the girl collapsed. She turned down the volume on her implant so it wouldn't be picked up by the mic. "Rei? Are you all right?"

Yugi looked to the entity. "What kind of problem?"

Rei didn't speak, nor breathing.

---

"It's Yuzaki!" it cried, "they're going to do something to him!"

Selena raised her implant's volume to max and bellowed; "Get a medic in here! NOW!!!"

Yugi's heart skipped several beats. "What are they planning?"

"They are going to turn her over using an orb called the Darkside Orb. As soon as he touches it, he won't be the same again" the entity replied.

Yugi gritted his teeth. "Damn it," He growled. "And I can't break these chains. I tried, and paid for my efforts." He gave a bitter smile. "You'd think that after I'd been Kaimiri's captive once, I would have learned."

Selena was in the waiting area, as the medics worked on Rei. Her implant was off, so she could think without being heard. This tournament, these duels...they're sadistic. And that crowd seems to not only be used to the bloodshed, but revels in it. That tells me something about this colony that Kaimiri runs.

"Yeah, with a Katana sliced though your back, and being doped up on poison" the enitiy said, "if Kaimiri finds out that I'm helping you guys, I'm dead! And if I'm dead, so is Amelia!"

Kaimiri walked into his office to find a bottle, swirling with his power. With it, was a note:
Here is your power. Use it wisely. Next time, you won't be so lucky. We are watching you

Amelia walked down to see Selena walking around.
"What happened Sakura?" she asked.

Yugi nodded. "I know." He said. "Is there any way you'll be able to get me out of here? Or is she working on a plan?" I only hope this entity knows who 'she' is.

Kaimiri smiled. "Why, thank you." He murmured. I have every intention of using it wisely. It's just a matter of when.

---

Selena paused. She flipped her implant back on so she could talk to the girl. "My first duel was against Rei. She lost, and now she's in a coma because of it. And the medics won't let me into the infirmary so I can pull her out of it."

"Well, we're working on a plan to get you out of here, don't you worry" the entity replied. well, i hope i know what we're doing....

Then a familiar face popped out of the door. Her hair is now longer and put it in a high bun. Her clips weren't there though her fringe stayed in possition. She was wearing red shoes, crimson skirt, black top and a long doctors coat. A red vial hangs around her neck.
"Sakura, you can finally come in now" she said, "I finally got the other doctors to move to other patience. I thought by now that Kaimiri has learnt his lesson." Sakura nodded and headed in the room, leaving Amelia. After a few minutes, a hand landed on her shoulder which made her shiver.
speaking of the devil she thought.

Yugi nodded. He cocked his head as he heard steps from down the hall. "You'd better go," he said. "And tell the others I say hi." He added with a smile.

Selena nodded. "Thank you." She said. She entered the room, leaving Amelia by herself. When she entered the hospital room....

Rei was still unconscious, but from the looks of it she didn't need to be on a breather. She flipped her implant back off so that she would think without being heard. Rei, I am so sorry about this. She thought. Sometimes it seemed all she was capable of was destruction....

Selena shook her head. Don't go back to that place. It was hard enough finding the way out of that dark place in high school, and opening up to Yugi and his friends. You don't need to turn back into that person, especially not after the last 5,000 years. She thought. She placed her hand on Rei's brow. Good sign; it wasn't cold. She closed her eyes and concentrated.

"Hello there, Amelia." Kaimiri said.

Aki watched Selena.
And I was called for this? she though, Kaimiri is sick!

"What do you want now?" Amelia asked, "I don't know you!"

Selena let her power flow, to try and contact Rei in her coma. Please, hear me.

"You will." Kaimiri said, activating his aura. The smell of acid filled the room. "I think it's time for your memories to be unblocked."

"NO!" The entity cried and stood in front of Kaimiri, "you don't want to do this!"
