Geez, he goes as soon as I come back from my semi-hiatus. Anyways, I should really go and get that G1 test done....I'm, like, almost 2 years past the minimum requirement for the test and I wanted to get that license before I turned 18. (I'm currently 17.)

lol, G1 over here is the written exam license. The driving license is split into 3 parts. Part 1 (G1): Written exam, allowed to drive, but with only G2+ licensed person within the vechile to supervise. Part 2 (G2): Driving (Practical) Exam, allowed to drive, but only on local streets, no highway. Part 3 (G): Highway (Practical) Exam, allowed to drive whatever.

oh, and G licenses or below can only drive regular cars, no trucks, motorcycles, delivery trucks or anything like that, they're all differently licensed.

and once I got tongue-twisted and I said to my mom "....but mom, I wanna get my driving license, the written one, before I turn 18, like, actually get the darned thing delivered to my doorstep by my birthday. You know, the G-G-G......G20! I mean! G1!" and then we laughed soooooo badly XD

and after that discussion, I was like "There's also a G, a G2, and a G8 :3"

In America... the "G" class license appears to be our "D" class license. It works the same way... only cars. And we only have a driving "permit" (your G1) and the "license" (your G3) there is no G2 in America.

lol, there's no G3, it's just "G" XD I thought it weird at first as well XD It's, like, counting 1,2, and then 0 XD

yeah, that is strange... would have made more sense if your "permit" was G2

Over here in Australia theyre pretty hard on you for your licencing.

To get your car licence you first have to do a computer based knowledge test to get your Learners Licence "L's". You must then do specific things logged into a handbook, ie night driving, wet weather, etc etc and log a total of 100 or 200hrs i think. All this must be done with the accompanyment of a fully licenced driver. You must have your L's for a minimum of 6 or 12 months now i think?

Once you have done the things for your L's requirements you can then do a computer test to get your Provisional 1 Licence or "Red P's" (Because the plate you must put on your car is a red P). This means you can drive on your own, but you have power restrictions on your vehicles. Things like not being able to drive a V8 type engine, and having an unmodified 6 cyl or 4cyl engine car. Plus they have a curfew and i think a passenger limit. There were issues with kids just getting their licences, loading up with their mates and then going out and being stupid on the roads and getting everyone killed. You will be on your Red P's for a minimum of 12 months.

Once you have done the 12 months, you then do another computer test, and get your Provisional 2 Licence, or "Green P's" because the P Plate you must display as a provisional driver changes from red to green. You will have this licence for a minimum of 2 years. Your curfew is removed along with the passenger limit, but not power restrictions for vehicles i dont think?

Once you have done the time on your Green P's, you can then, FINALLY, take your computer test to get your full, unrestricted car licence, known as your 'Black Licence' or 'Open Licence'.

And all that is just for a car.

If you want to get a truck licence, there are several different licence types for different types of trucks (Light Rigid, Heavy Rigid, Combination, Multicombiation, etc etc) Plus motorcycles are a different licence again! The testing for truck licences is much stricter than cars, and they are much more heavily monitored and penalised too than car drivers.

OK! So, now that ive gotten that over and done with, let me give you all a little update on where im at!

Ive been a bit busy with work and what not of late, so my apologies for not having been on here as much as usual! Im definitely glad to see there is some level of activity though! Last night i celebrated my mothers bday with a family dinner. My sister surprised her by showing up after telling her she couldnt make it. I went back to my parents place, then drove out and picked up a friend after that and we went to a club for the night. After dropping her home afterwards and getting back myself around 2-2:30am, i was laying in bed when a mate called me saying he was in the street down below. We had a conversation out the window, watched some drunks have an altercation with security for a bit, then they headed off and i went back to bed. Within 5mins, they called me back again because my mate had fallen over and dislocated his kneecap and needed to go to hospital. So i picked him up and drove him across town to the hospital and spent the night with him getting looked at and stuff. Didnt get home to sleep til 530am... was up again at 11am and off to work, from which i have just returned!

I am about to give my mother her bday presents, and dad his fathers day gift (celebratory day here nationally) and then i will go back to my place, and get ready to go to a party tonight for a friends 21st bday! Im having the night off work! This makes me happy!

Sounds like a really busy schedule!

And hell! All that for a license? You'd think there'd be no car accidents if things were like that. Over here any bastard can just show up in a not so strict driving school and directly take the knowledge and driving test to get a license to drive their car

Yeah, I'm kinda both glad that I didn't have to go through all that and almost really wish that we WOULD adopt it. Mainly just because I think there would be a lot less idiots on the road... but I'm not entirely sure I would have passed it... ^.^;; Fey is not that good of a driver. And it wouldn't be so bad if I lived in a city where I could basically walk everywhere I needed... but my work is 45 minutes away by car and my school is about 20 minutes away. I would cry if I had to walk to either one.

Congrats Sora :3

over here, I heard that it's easier if you go out and NOT do your test in a big town. They apparently are more lenient in smaller towns.

Assassin>> o.o woah.... <---at both the amount of work for a car and your busy schedule. looking at your schedule makes me think I don't have that much work XD and if it was that strict on driving licenses over here, I'd, like, totally not take it at all >.>

Lol LaVida, that was one HELL of a weekend!

Fortunately there are no pictures from the 21st that i went to! It wasnt pretty for me! Got there and talked to a couple of lads out the front for a while in a reasonably serious conversation, then headed inside with the alcohol in hand! Before id left, a mate had told me he wasnt drinking because he didnt have any money for booze, so i said we could share my 1 litre bottle of Red Label Rum! Id had a little out of the top on previous occasions, so it was down to roughly 800ml id estimate. Anywho, we got there and commenced the drinking... three glasses of alcohol each later, the bottle was empty and only a half hour of time had elapsed... from the first glass, it all went down hill from there! quite quickly after finishing my third drink and us finishing the bottle, myself and my mate began bring our stomach contents back up. We then spent the next several hours of the night and early morning in similar conditions, him around a toilet bowl, and me out the back on the verandah on the lawn... Was REALLY not pretty!

Other than that, i spent the sunday recovering, and not long after getting home that afternoon, was called into work for the night! I went, somewhat reluctantly, to work for the full 9hrs (6pm until 3am monday morning) running in recovery mode. The shift wasnt great. I came home, had a feed, and then slept until 5pm monday afternoon, at which point, i awoke, was up until 3am again, and then slept until 7am tuesday morning and went to work once more!

oh yeah, talking about drinking and alcohol, I found out that only a few years ago the drinking age was 19 over here (which means if you where near Canadian borders you coulda just drove over in a few hour's time and start drinking if you were 19) but they changed it to 21 because we were so close to the states :P

We love loving the love of the lovable sora? ... or some such? hahaha!

Ive been drinking for close on a decade now i think? Legal drinking age is 18 here Down Under, but i started at about 14 or 15. My parents used to give me one every now and then.
