Yup. Ceolic disease. I can't have gluten which is primarily wheat(the most used flour int he usa, where I live of course), barley, and rye. there are other things but they aren't really used often enough to worry about, except maltodextrin which is a sweetner made from corn, wheat, or potato but you never know hich unless the package says.) . The damage i've already done should heal as long as I avoid wheat though XD.

Edit: Hmm interesting. Well CD Isn't really all that rare so it's not too surprising.

That's kind of scary really. I feel like it would be so hard not to be able to eat the stuff you're used to eating. It seems like pretty much everything has that stuff in it nowadays except the specifically made gluten free stuff.

oh, man.

Yeah, especially when you lived on pasta and love cakes.... and cookies... and brownies... but still it's not to bad. You have to be careful but it's possible to eat alot of the things you loved before. You just have to make them from scratch or buy specially made. Also dollar stores sell rice noodles that can be used in place of spaghetti and other wheat noodles fairly cheaply and easily. It's an adjustment but tends to be pretty easy. It can be a little icky around the holidays with all the pies and stuff at the table for everybody else(I have a huge family that gets together and am the only cd afflicted XD), but other then that it usually doesn't bother me.

Well that's good. I know there are a lot of boxed mixes for gluten free cakes and cookies and brownies too though. I always feel bad for my dad who's diabetic so he can't eat any deserts or anything when we go out to eat. V_V

Poor you. D: It's strange, I've never actually met anyone (in real life, of course) with that condition, but apparently it's really common in the states... Maybe I'm just misinformed about it, but it's an odd coincidence. XD

@zigbigadorlube My mother is a pre-diabetic. We don't eat nearly as much sweets, but we still do.

Oh, and yes such conditions are on the rise here, among other things. The gluten-free recipes are actually getting more and more plentiful though.

We eat so much processed crap here I'm not surprised to be honest...

Yeah, they have tons of gluten-free stuff in my store. Pizzas and pastas, desserts, pretzels, cookies, etc.

@zig: Yup, betty crocker makes some good ones. Not alot of flavors though. The biggest problem though with premade gluten free is its so damn expensive lol.

@Neu: Well it is more common then you'd think just about everywhere but at the same time it's also something that alot of people have without knowing it *shrugs* so you may have. What's inheritance?
