I can see why MS paint won't crash.
It is still lack of features that I would like.

Actually, IF your focus was only on pixelling, then MS Paint is really enough.
*shruggs*
I am not sure whether the transparency is all that important... as long as the pixel art is pixel clear, white background is still fine. Animation is animation, it is another issue.

True, but I find that if you show it on a site that is colored it causes problems.

I haven't messed with MS paint in so long. I wonder if there is a way to preserve transparency, or maybe a plug in someone's developed. For some reason I doubt it. I've seen people do some nice stuff in MS Paint. I just like the ease of having all the tools other progams have.

I make it in MS Paint and erase all the white pixels in GIMP. Works well for me.

I haven' used GIMP in a LONG time. Wouldn't you be able to use GIMP exclusively for pixel work?

:( I wonder what other freeware programs are out there. Maybe this is one that's friendlier to pixeling. Photoshop has spoiled me. I think it would be really hard for me to make anything on another program. especially paint but I've seen videos of people doing amazing work on paint. I just don't have that patience >.<

Well pixeling in general requires a lot of patience.
But I think photoshop costs money

photoshop does cost lots of money >.<
I used to pixel for a website a LONG time ago called anitaria. it just wasn't fun. maybe it was because the bases for that site were meh. I think pixeling though was one of the biggest challenges. it really forces you to focus on stripping things down because super fine detail just isn't there.

Ani was fun for a while. I loved it at first because there were so few people. It was so different from Gaia that way. That was the first time I was really able to pixel. It was fun.

I like gaia's style but I quit. >.< Once they started really going for cash shop stuff.. I just couldn't handle it anymore. And the way they do the equips on their items.. it was just too expensive. I think I still have about 4 or most DIs. I might end up quitting here too if this site keeps pulling "buy 4 get _____ Free!" It always amounts to feeling used for me. But Mene has that small community feel I love and their base is nice and pretty.

Gaia's avatars always seemed fat and stubby to me... more like dwarves...
Actually that "Buy X get X free" is moreso a compliment for those who already buy a lot. Because what is happening is a handful of users are purchasing an item many times and they are selling them for gold to all the people who only want to pay gold.

Those are chibis to me, which are cute.
I don't like menewsha's proportion... but meh, there are other website that have more realism base that irks me.

I like the proportions for menewsha better than most other avatar sites, but its still a little awkward to me.
It may be that the X items get X free is a compliment thing, but it honestly doesn't matter to me. I read it as being a scam for more money, personally. and that's just my own response. it would be different for me if it were buy 4 get ONE free instead of buy 4 get this entirely exclusive item that you ONLY get if you bought 4 for "free." then maybe I'd see it better. But for now, I don't. Its still a really negative thing for me. But who knows. I'm odd. I don't even like sales that are buy one get one 1/2 off.
