Kat: Sagittarius - one g, two t's. And yes, Sagittarian, Capricornian and Leonian.
I agree, it's vague enough to apply most of the time. And of course, especially if you're actively looking for it.
MBTI?

Connie, I do realise there is more than just the one sign behind it. My boyfriend is a bit into astrology and he'll occasionally start analyzing star charts when either one of us has had a bad day or are feeling funny and go "Well, the moon is this and Mars is that, but Venus..." at which point I just nod and smile. Never found the time to get into this and try to understand it properly, so I just leave it to him.

Yeah, thanks. I'm officially thick. :boogie:

Meh, I'm used to the spell checker on Firefox actually working not the one on Google Chrome which just thinks everything is wrong. It thinks 'Google' is a spelling mistake.

Hah!
My spell checker works for everything except British spellings, which really annoys me sometimes. I want to try the Google Chrome though (just waiting for it to be released for Macs), is it good? Apart from the spell checker, obviously. : )

I like it. If they want to make a database all of the sites I visit they can go ahead. It won't be interesting. I know of the security issues, but there's always going to be sad little gits who make it their work to find the exploits in any program. Some of the talk is just bloggers who want to pick holes in everything and get the most hits through scare tactics. :/

I'll still use Firefox as my secondary browser, if I need one. Even if most websites claim to be 'optimised for Firefox' or what-have-you I've never had a major problem. Only one website with a streaming video player said 'Please use Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox' but then Opera and Safari users would have gotten that message too.

Mmm. I haven't really read much about it to be honest. I was pretty excited about it when it was first announced but since then I'd forgotten it. Signed up to be notified when they publish the Mac version though, because I knew I'd forget otherwise.
There will always be people with scare tactics and there will always be people that fall for them. Sadly.

Mmm I finally had a chance to watch some Doctor Who this weekend. One of my best friends lives in London as well, albeit the other end of it and a different zone and I've been showing her the new series. We've only just reached the final episodes of Season 2 as we're both pretty busy so we don't often get a chance to watch. Since we hadn't watched anything since Christmas, we watched four episodes - The Impossible Planet, The Satan Pit, Love & Monsters and Fear Her. Only the final two left now, I wish we'd had time to watch them as well. Been so long since I saw them.. although I'll probably be bawling my eyes out all through them. >______<

Everybody have a good weekend?

My youtube username is Scooty McPhooty because me and my friend totally forgot Scooti Manista's (from The Impossible Planet, I don't even know if they say her full name) surname and decided to make up the rest of her name to be as suitably silly as Scooti.

Aww, I'm glad you and your friend got to meet up. I had to travel down to Keele to see the university on Sunday which was informative but not too interesting. ^^;

Aww, that's cute. xD And yeah, they do. In the introduction I think.. and at least when she dies. ;____;
Are you trying to decide on a university to go to? What will you study? : )

I applied in November to do Medicinal Chemistry (or Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry which is more or less the same) at Aberdeen, Glasgow, Keele, Newcastle and Surrey and I have offers from all of them. I've been to all of them at some point except Aberdeen. Surrey is forever away when you live in the North. O_o

Glasgow is my first choice though and Keele my second at the minute. I just heard about them changing the laws on alcohol in Scotland. If they had raised the age to buy alcohol to 21 I would have cried. XD

You don't want to come live in the US, then. Here, the age has been 21 for twenty-five years.

I know but if you knew while you were growing up, you would just have to deal with it. I'm 18 now so being able to legally drink and then having it suddenly taken away from me would be a bit rubbish. It's not actually buying booze that matters for me, it's more being able to go out dancing with my friends or see bands and comedians in 18+ venues without freaking out about being ID'd.

I've been in places in Europe where the legal drinking age is 16 and I didn't appear to get stabbed or attacked by binge drinkers at any point. ¬_¬

Oh, what did they change about them then? Is it 18 in England? I think 18 is a pretty good age. Usually it's the older people that can't handle alcohol and act like total twats, I rarely see young people causing mischief under the influence. Though to be fair, I might not be the best judge of that.

The City back home in Iceland has opened for applications for summer jobs and now I'm freaking out trying to decide what to apply for. I really want a job that isn't always the same, last summer the routine sort of messed up my head. Ideally, I'd want to just take photos all summer but I'm trying to find some way of actually doing that and get paid for it.

Around here drunken high schoolers cause disaster quite often... Like they go around knocking over trash cans but its not as bad as the adults that drive while drunk and nearly kill people. >< I wish the drinking age in the US was 16.... That would make better sense.

I personally think driving sober at 16/17 is too young but I don't know about the logistics in the US. Here there's plenty trains, buses and other forms of public transport as well as actually getting up and walking or cycling to get to schools. If you live so far any from the nearest place you have to drive they really need to look at that situation. :/

Aww, I hope you feel better soon ljos. I see you found yourself again. ^^

Kat, lately it's not so much about the availability of public transportation, it's about the money it costs to use it, especially after having been at a bar for the night.

We can get a driver's license at 17 in Iceland, is it higher in the UK? Then again, public transport in Iceland is terrible. And I mean really, really terrible.

Connie, is it actually so expensive it is less costly to buy a car, including insurance and everything as well as gas?

Kat, thanks and yeah, it came back when I changed the outfit. Shame, I wanted to try to get an outfit that suited the invisibility better. xD

I'm talking about once you've got the car.
After being at the bar for a night (drinks are expensive, not to mention any food you might decide to get), taking a taxi costs about the same as a tank of gas anyway, so there's really no difference between taking your own car and grabbing a taxi, except that you get to save that gas money for when you actually need to fill up.

Or, the train. One adult, one-way ticket costs about the same as half a tank of gas, and that's not considering that there will be at least one person in your group who discovers they don't have the money for that ticket, and the rest of them only have just enough for themselves.

And if you're too drunk to drive, you're too drunk to ride a bike, not to mention that, in my area, parking a bike around a bar is just asking for it to get stolen. On top of that, in the center city area, it's just too dangerous to ride a bike, period, let alone while drunk.

ljos: You can get your provisional license and take lessons at 17, but I've always understood you had to 18 to get your full license and then you're not supposed to do things like drive on the motorways until you've had your license 6 months.

Connie: Car insurance for someone my age would be at least £1000 a year. They quoted my 19 year old friend £1900 for him just to be added onto to his father's policy and the excess was ridiculous. Even if a bus or Metro pass is around £400-700 a year that's probably less than someone would spend on petrol. :/

I'm not saying people shouldn't drive, I'm just saying people in power have cocked up at some point so people are forced to choose between the lesser or least expensive of two evils.

While I can walk home my friends can share a taxi for a few pounds each; I'm just lucky I live in a country so crowded everything is pretty close together.

Connie, but if you're buying drinks you shouldn't drive anyway. Which I guess means you'll be saving money you would be spending on drinks as well. P:
Still, I do wish governments in general realised the need for good, not-too-expensive public transport. I get especially miffed about the situation in Iceland because nobody seems to care much about the buses at all - we don't have trains - so they are way too expensive, way too infrequent and I bet the drivers get terribly paid because they are usually grumpy and usually don't speak Icelandic. Sometimes hardly even English, which can be very annoying if you need help or information.
We did actually have a few Hydrogen powered (I think?) buses a couple of years ago, I wonder why that didn't continue. Of course, with the economic crunch right now, I doubt the bus system will improve at all. Probably just get even worse, which means more and more cars on the street, which means more traffic, more pollution, more stress, more accidents, etc.

..I don't really like cars. :/

Kat: Ah, I see. We don't get the full license either until we're 18 but I don't think there's any difference really. You just have to go to a driving instructor and prove you know what you're doing before you get it - something I think you should have to do every five years or so. I think it might help in getting rid of some stupid drivers.

Guhh, still ill. I have an ear infection and it hurts. so. much. I've been having to take way too many painkillers in the last three weeks and I don't like it at all. But without them, it is completely unbearable. >______<

Mmm, see that's the thing about having hepatitis: I can't drink alcohol without getting sick. So, that makes me the designated driver every damn time I go out with my friends.
I'd rather just drive my own car than have to pay for taxi, train or bus.

Ooh, I just saw the trailer for Planet of the Dead on TV for the first time. Don't know how long it's been on, but I've seen a website posting about it today so maybe it is new.
(yes, I'm not off topic for once)

I know, it was a minute long trailer but it's better safe than sorry.X

I love the 'end of the line' gag, and the entire 'flashback' opening looked rather good. My only worry is that I thought the big fly monster looked a bit silly, but the other flying things did look suitably nasty.

Link! (youtube, because it wouldn't play on the BBC website for me ad I know they sometimes only allow UK visitors to access certain parts of the site)

kat, there was a silent, excited scream (which sounded more like a hiss. XD) coming from my throat while my face was about six inches from the screen. <3333
and i am now going to post that on my mom's facebook because she will want to know as well.
(even though she hasn't even finished season 4 yet. @_@)

Anyone else seen the Easter special yet?? I didn't actually look at the trainer beforehand or anything. How exciting! :squee:

Also, sorry I haven't been on in quite some time. I've been busy and am at the moment in Scotland visiting boyfriend, so not much time for internets. I am not anticipating getting back, there is so much work that awaits, there probably won't be much internets time then either. *sigh* Hope everyone is doing alright.
