Miss Elly flipped open her pocketwatch and stared at it, then sighed. she crssed her legs lady-like and sipped a bit of tea from the miniature cup on a table. she looked up and saw a doll sitting around (Hae-jin) she quickly got up and sat next to him "you seem a little bored..." she said as she pulled her knees up to her chest.

"Yes, I know what you mean..." Maeve said softly to Kazemi. She too missed all of the dolls from Mr. Neely's shop, even silly old Eileen and her silly old fancy airs. Maeve and Bridget (the youngest doll) could never help but to giggle when Eileen would strut about, acting like the queen herself.
Maeve smiled at the memory, and then turned back to Kazemi. "But where are you from?" she asked, eager to get to know more about the other dolls. "Obviously I'm from Ireland, if you couldn't tell!" Maeve giggled. It was rather obvious, what with her obvious Irish accent and her green clothing.

Hae-jin had skittered into a seated position as Elly had come to sit by him. As a long-time shelf doll, he was uncomfortable being looked down at. "A little," he nodded, folding his hands into his lap, elastics creaking softly. He'd been strung a little tightly last time so as to keep Jillian from pulling him apart too quickly.
This doll, the one called Miss Elly, seemed to have the respect of most of the others. She was, he supposed, a sort of mayor for the toy box. Everyone seemed friendly here, and he knew his own personal melancholy was what was keeping him from making friends as well, but he couldn't do much about it. This haughty gloom was the personality that he was designed into.

Miss Elly smiled "don't worry" she said as she looked at him "the other dolls here are very nice, so don't be afraid to talk" she ajusted her mini-top hat and pulled her dress to cover her knees. "so, how did you end up in the toy box?" she asked curiously.

"I..." Kazemi stopped and tilted her head to the side again, "don't know... I think I'm from Japan." She looked behind her and checked the small tag hiding behind the edge of her dress. It read 'Made in Japan' in kanji, but Kazemi understood it perfectly. "Yup, Japan." She assured with a nod.

Even though Maeve was a bit far away, her sharp eye caught the strange symbols on the tag on Kazemi's dress. Of course, being a custom made doll, Maeve had no tags of her own, save a small BN scratched on her foot, the stamp of her maker Mr. Neely. Maeve had never seen this mark herself, but she had seen Mr. Neely scratching it onto other dolls feet before he fired their bodies so that their porcelain would stay hard and durable.
Maeve leaned out from the shelf with interest. "What are those pictures on their tag? Are they a good luck charm?"

"I think they're called 'kanji'." Kazemi replied, remembering how one of the fairy dolls could read books and taught the others how to read, including herself, "It's the written language of the country I was from, at least one of them. There's two others, I think..." She couldn't remember much. Why was that?

"Oh, that's...interesting," Maeve said, not really sure how someone could read using only pictures. "We just spoke English in Ireland. Although, Mr. Neely knew some Gaelic and most of the other dolls picked up on it."
Maeve had always loved the sound of the Gaelic words. They were so pretty, like a song.

"Adriana. Jillian's cousin moved over seas for college and left me as a gift to remember her by." He adjusted his clothing, trying not to look at the other doll too much. It's rude to stare, but isn't staring the job of a doll? He pondered this as he let his hand fall. A soft "Oh." Escaped him and he lifted his right hand once more. It had fallen onto the hem of Elly's skirt. "Very sorry." A look of chagrin over took him.

Miss Elly cutefully blushed when his hand hit the hem of her gown. "wow, i never knew that Mistress Jillian had any older cousins..." she said as she gave a cute pouty sort of look "well, i came from Canada" she said as she gently folded her hands over her knees.

"What's Gaelic?" Kazemi asked, trying to pronounce the word as correctly as Maeve did. She wondered if she would meet more strange, interesting dolls like her new friend as she sat down on the edge of the desk.

Hae-jin gave Elly a small smirking grin. "Well, I didn't never knew she had dolls from Canada." He gazed out over the room for a moment, his lips moving slightly as he sang in his head, then slightly more as the words began to slip out a little louder.
"Do- ra- ji, Do- ra- ji, Bek Do-ra- ji
Shim- shin San Chun- eh Bek Do- ra- ji.
Han Dul Poo- ri- man Ke- u- do-
Dae ba- goo- ne- ga Chul Chul - Num- nun- da."
After reaching the end a second time, he sighed softly and began to fuss at a wrinkle in his pants.

Elly looked around and fiddled with her pocket watch, she gently blinked a little bit as she tried to keep occupied "So..." she said softly "what was your owner like?" she looked up at him.

"Oh?" Maeve was surprised the doll didn't know what Gaelic was. Then she remembreed, a little embarassed, that there were places outside of Ireland, and not everyone knew everything about her country.
"Gaelic is..." Maeve struggled to remember anything Mr. Neely had said about the language. "Well, it's the language of the Celts and ancient Ireland." She paused for a moment. "It's a dea language, I think, meaning that no one has it as their native language." Maeve smiled at Kazemi. "Sort of like Latin."
