  • Renee was glad that Kurt could get Marcus to help them. Given what had happened earlier, she was surprised he would. But that had to be. She knew her father and the other Council members were not positively happy about them working the case, but when it came down to it: Everyone wanted to be able to sleep safe at night and they couldn't until the murderer was caught.

Tapping her foot waiting for her vampire partner, She allowed herself to think a bit about Kurt. How did she feel about him?

Her train of thought was lost quickly though as she thought she saw a shadow pass by. Renee leaned up quickly and looked around. She couldn't see anyone.

And then Kurt rushed at her. She jumped and clamped her hands over her mouth to keep from letting out an embarrasing scream. Taking a breath, Renee put her hands down.

"Yeah I am. What is it? Was that you outside a bit ago?"

Kurt let out a tired sigh as he ran a hand over his face, pinching the bridge of his nose. He said nothing as he closed her car door and walked around to the driver's side, getting in and handing her the bag, slamming the keys into the ignition and hurrying to leave the place and get home.

"That wasn't me. That was the murderer," he said shakily. "God," he whispered as he shook his head, gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles. "I'm not leaving you alone from now on, Renee. We need to protect each other if we want to get through this alive," he decided aloud as he turned onto his street. No police were around, to Kurt's surprise, so he sped to his house.

Once there, he locked his garage door with the special lock only given to council members allowed for anything for protection. Kurt hurried out and unlocked his door, opened it quickly to sniff the air for any Vampires or Supernatural. They were safe. They were alone. He leaned against the entryway and sighed once more.

  • It was nieve of her to have let her guard down simply because she was with Kurt, Renee realized. Yes she was sure he would do anything to keep her safe or find her. The problem was, however, mistakes like staying outside in a car alone could make all the difference. She hadn't thought that the killer was specifically following them.

Renee stayed quiet for the ride, nervous, and a bit scared. The killer knew who they were, what they were doing, and where they lived. Was it possible that they were next? -- or was he just playing with them because they were looking for him?

Setting the bag on the table when they got in the house, she decided to finally speak up. "I should have been watching. I'm sorry." She mumbled a bit thinking about his previous words. She then made eye contact with him. Protect each other. Not alone.

"So do I need to be making arrangements to call my family and inform them I'm staying here for the time being?" Renee asked. She walked closer to him. It seems like they couldn't even have the rest of that night for peace.

Kurt looked over at Renee, wariness on his face as he huffed another sigh. He tilted his head to the side as he looked at her for a moment before speaking. He softly shook his head, giving her the kindest glance he had ever given anyone. "It was my fault, Renee. Not yours," he said softly. He closed the door and led them into the kitchen.

"That would probably be the best idea. I'll clear out of my bedroom, you can have it. I'll be perfectly fine on the couch," he said as he motioned his head towards the leather sofa in the corner of the living room. "I have fresh sheets and blankets for you."

He looked around, putting his hands on his hips before looking at her directly. "Look, from here on in, I know that the best thing to do is to make sure we look out for one another. That way we'll be the safest we can be," he told her softly, putting his hands on her shoulders to stress his words. "This is a the most serious matter the council has ever had to face...and as long as we're in this together, we have a good chance at succeeding. I can have my revenge, and your people will have their safety."

  • Renee began to realize that their mission didn't just mean protecting everyone. Of course she had already knew about the revenge, she just hadn't thought about it a whole lot. He was really hurting about his lost one. It made her want to cry.

"Wait, wait Kurt," Renee commented. She looked over at the couch. There wasn't any way she could take his house, his bed, like that. "I'll sleep on the couch... or we could sleep together," She mumbled looking down a little embarrassed again.

"Nothing weird, I promise. People do it all the time, right?"

He stared at her for a moment, not sure whether to tilt his head back and laugh it off or to just continue to stand there and blink at her without a word. He decided on neither as he cleared his through and ran a hand through his hair. "I...I guess. I mean, I wouldn't want you discomforted..."

"Though most people share beds as lovers," he grumbled under his breath before sighing and shaking his head. "You know what? That would be easier for us that way. Good thinking, Renee," he said with a smile. He hadn't meant to reached over and cup her cheek endearingly for a second as he drew his hand back, realizing what he had just done.

He turned from her and cleared his throat. "Just let me check to see if I've received that email from Marcus and then I can go get the bed ready. That way we could possibly work in comforts instead of sitting in these uncomfortable chairs for hours. I don't mind food in there."

  • Renee's cheeks reddened softly at the mention of lovers. She hadn't wanted to make Kurt feel any more odd then he probably already did since she had to live there until further notice. And then he was closer then she had expected. Touching. Her.

For a moment Renee's thoughts were back at the bar before the killer had came into their personal lives yet again that night. She had been confused, but she was sure she wasn't now. When Kurt turned and cleared his throat, and mentioned about the email, her hand went up to linger where his had been. Her hand fell and she closed her mouth; not realizing her lips had parted in the first place. That hadn't been nothing. It was getting harder and harder for her to deny that there was something between them, however small it may be. She looked at him as he was turned away, but then retracted her gaze in case he turned back around.

"Oh, ah, okay. I'll get the snacks and bring it in. Do you want me to bring in something to drink? I'm sure I can find the glasses just fine," Renee asked in a stumbled hurry, trying to keep everything normal. Of course, how much longer could they keep doing that?

No matter how Kurt had tried his might to not sense that there was something in his voice, he couldn't fight it. He had flustered her and immediately, he regretted it. Maybe there was something between them. Yes, there has to be for that moment to feel so...well, not awkward, but different. Something he had never felt before between himself and someone else.

He was about to say he'd love a glass of blood but he knew he had had enough for one day. "An ice cold water sounds lovely," he said as he turned back around and gave Renee a soft, gentle smile.

Without another word, he headed into his bedroom, pulling the fresh blankets and sheets out of one of the dressers he had in that room. With Vampire speed, he had taken off the sheets, tossing the comforter and naked pillows safely on his chest that sat at the end of his bed. He had the fresh sheets on, just putting the pillow cases on when Renee walked in.

"I'm sorry if I made anything awkward before. If I over step a...a boundary or personal space, feel free to slap me or something similar," he said with a light chuckle.

  • Renee nodded and then got two glasses down from the second cabinet she had opened, then got the water. On the way to the room, she made sure to get the bag of snacks. She put the glasses and snacks on the near bed side table before replying to him.

Laughing a bit, Renee looked over at him and set down on the bed. She had thought she had made it awkward earlier. She then nodded. "I'll be sure to knock some sense into you," She commented. Somehow she doubted she would need to do that. There was just something about Kurt.

Renee bit her lip, thinking. She then looked away and took a sip of her water. "So... we need to go over who the killer might be, right?"

He chuckled nervously at the mention of her knocking some sense into him. Did she mean that? He felt to inwardly nervous to use his senses at the moment. As he set up the pillows equally on both sides, he grabbed his laptop and plopped down onto his comforter with a sigh. He always loved how comfortable it was. Tempurpedic because of reasons.

"Yes." He patted the space beside him before he opened his laptop, logged on, and headed straight to his email. He found the attachment from Marcus and opened it. "Five. This shouldn't be bad," he said as he opened it in his Adobe reader and scrolled through the five pages of different profiles of past Vampire council members and/or staff.

The only problem was that they were all so similar. He took the bag of snacks from her and reached in for his snack. He soon picked up his laptop, handing it over to her as his hand accidentally brushed hers. He tried to ignore it. "See?" he asked, soon pointing to the screen.

  • It didn't matter that she was a werewolf and he was a vampire. Her hand still warmed up the sensation of his for the split moment. If it was already that intense, Renee didn't want to think about how her mind would be working the next night. It was likely to end up more hectic then she had originally thought.

She swallowed and looked looked down at the screen. "Hm," She mumbled. It looked like it might be harder then they thought five would be. "Let's see, the important details. We want someone with the smarts and precision to make the moves he does. Of course being a vampire helps tremendously anyway. What about... why they're not apart of the staff anymore? I mean we are clearly looking for someone with some pent up issues with us, the council."

They were not working with just any vampire. He had the knoledge and resources to kill Kurt's changer, as well as the ghost, which wasn't an easy feat. Renee shifted the laptop back to him and reached for her strawberries. She then leaned back, much closer to Kurt then she had been before, so she could eat a few while looking at the screen with him.

Kurt was fully aware of Renee's closeness. Up to the point he could feel her heat radiating from her. He kept his eyes on the screen, scrolling through the five once more. He went to the first one. "Retired," he read, moving to the next one, "Arrested for misuse of council information." The third one, he read, "Retired," again. Fourth one, "Arrested for illegal lab activity," and then to the fifth one, "Arrested for illegal lab activity," again.

"So the last two are easy suspects. But what about the second guy? A.J Embers?" he asked. His head quickly turned to the side to look at her for a moment before he turned his eyes back to the lap top screen. He shifted in the bed, sitting up more straight as he crossed his legs Indian-style.

He got out a notepad from his nightstand drawer, pulling a pen out with it. He flipped it open to the next blank page, writing down the names as he read aloud, "A.J. Embers, Edward Tainnar, and Lewellyn Chambers..." He tapped the top of the pen to his lips, thinking.

"Tomorrow, I say we contact the prisons, find out what happened to these three guys," Kurt suggested from the top of his head. "I doubt that the files would be open to the public on the internet since they involve the council."

  • Renee ate a few strawberries before putting them back on the night stand. She tapped her lips a few times thinking them over. Two obviously done nothing wrong. The last two seemed like primary suspects, but for a safety precaution it was best to look all three of the arrest staff. "Yes, I think that is a good plan. We can go at sun down if you want. That way you won't be affected by the sun and have any energy depleted. We need at least you in top shape tomorrow, just in case the killer rears his head again. That also means we can sleep in. Rest up,"

Renee took a drink of her water and then held out Kurt's glass to see if he wanted any. "Depending on what kind of lab activity those last two participated in, the lab is a perfect place to learn the techniques needed for the precision our killer has."

"You're right, Renee," he said as he took the glass, murmuring a thank you as he drank a bit. He rarely drunk anything without Blood, but this was a divine change. He sighed and sat it down on the nightstand on his side. "We'll sleep in. And if any of us wakes up early, I have a full dozen of eggs and other stuff to make some breakfast. Or even brunch," he said with a chuckle.

"Maybe we should check with those who arrested them also. Maybe who caught them? Surely someone had to call the cops on them," he suggested as he went to his Google Chrome and began looking things up about the Council's brief cases that are available for public view. Usually it told the story of who caught up and when they were arrested.

He froze, clicking between the three tabs he had opened on the matching cases. "That's odd," he murmured. "All of the ones who had caught the suspects are dead..." He turned to look at Renee with a confused face.

  • "All?" Renee asked maneuvering again to look at the screen at the same time he could. She had a puzzled look on her face. She moved her hand over, nudging his out of the way so she looked then at the 3 tabs. But why?

"Maybe the information will be in the closed files that we are going to be able to see tomorrow," Renee commented leaning back to where she was. "Most suspects do tend to get angry at the ones they were caught by. Of course if you kill the capturers then it's harder to obtain someone who can get the job done. Which is one of the reasons we would have time to try our hand at the job. The primary detectives are all... dead...,"

"Yeah, you're right," Kurt murmured, looking at the computer's screen beside her. He felt his hand tingle as soon as he felt her hand push his out of the way. The connection left him getting caught with his breath in his throat. He swallowed down the lump, sighing softly to himself.

"Don't you find that a bit odd?" he reached over and took a strawberry. Just one wouldn't hurt, surely. He bit into it, savoring the juiciness of it in pure glee. He tossed the stem into the trashcan all the way across the room easily without looking, his eyes trained on the screen.

"I mean, yeah, it makes the job a step harder, but it just bothers me, you know? Like, this guy's so good is mentally frustrating, and that's a lot coming from a Vampire," he said with an offended, scrunched up face as he turned to look at Renee, forgetting how close they were until now when he found his face inches from hers. His face relaxed when he caught his eyes with hers.

Yes, there was something between them now. And he wasn't sure if she knew it, but he knew that he knew it.

  • It was odd. It was horribly so. It was infuriating how much the killer new about the killing techniques of vampires, ghosts, and more. It wasn't appeasing that he was so good at what he done. It made things harder and more dangerous for them both and those around them and in the council.

When Kurt turned his face to her, Renee had been looking at him while he spoke. Their eye contact was somewhat electric to say the least. Each touch so far had seem multiplied that night, the looks more intimate. With evil on the horizon one would think it would be opposite but it wasn't.

Renee let out a slow breath trying to weed threw the options at that moment. They were not going to learn much more that night over those files. They would have to wait until the next day. Her eyes moved to his lips for a very very brief moment. But from their discussions at that bar she was still slightly confused on what he liked or didn't like. Werewolf's for example.

"Frustrating good or not... well get him," She said in a near whisper with her eyes again on his.

Kurt almost nodded his head to go along with her words. Yes, they would get him. If he had to risk his life, even. He would waste his life just to find this killer and end him. He was at a war with himself at the moment. He wanted to kiss her. He knew that by how much...he didn't know, but all he knew was that he wanted to taste her lips, wanted to see what her reaction would be.

So he sat his computer to the side, now facing her on his knees, his eyes never leaving hers. "I wanted...to try something," he murmured softly. He leaned forward quickly, stopping just before her lips for a moment, suddenly afraid, but feeling bold, he cupped her face and pressed his lips to hers. He wasn't rough or hungry, he was soft and gentle, with only the question of her reaction in the back of his mind. But God, was her lips so soft and...they molded perfectly against his. It was heaven to him.

  • Renee's confusion was pretty much gone now, to say the least. She had wanted the kiss but had been a little frightened to go threw with it herself. Luckily he had, had the courage to go threw with it. Her heart raced as their lips met.

It was right. It felt right to her. Renee responded shortly after. It was a soft and controlled kiss, sweet. Her hand snaked up and ran threw his soft hair. For a moment some of the death and sadness didn't seem as close.

It was safe to say that Kurt had lost himself in the kiss. All thoughts of Wesley's death, the problem of the murderer, the stress caused by the murderer and the Council, had disappeared as if they had never existed to begin with. He sighed into the kiss at the feel of her hands in his hair. He had found himself to love that feeling, someone running their fingers through his hair. He never felt it before. Not even as a young Human.

He took his hands away from her face and rested them on her waist, pulling her over to him so that he could press his body against hers, his kiss still soft and sweet. But it wasn't long before he had forced himself to come back to reality. He gently pulled his head back, opening his eyes to look at hers.

"I had been wanting to do that all day," he realized aloud. Yes, it had been too long since he's kissed anyone, but it wasn't (thankfully) something that had resulted into primal needs. Starting out slow with anyone was the way to go.

  • All Renee could do at first was blush a tad bit and smile as he pulled away. Sure Kurt was a vampire and she was a werewolf. But the thing was; that didn't stop her from liking him. That didn't stop her from thinking he was attractive. She was generally happy that he had been wanting to do that. It brightened the bad day they had.

Renee bit her lip before saying anything back, working through what she was feeling at that moment. "I'm... glad. Quite glad, actually," She commented. It was refreshing, and nice to hear. For the night she didn't want to think about how she would feel about him during the full moon. It was something that could be put off till the next night.

"We probably shouldn't stay up too much longer," Renee mentioned, making it easier on them both to take things easy.

Kurt smiled at her softly, giving her a loving look as he nodded his head. "You're right," he said, moving back as he got off the bed, touching his feet to the floor. He closed his laptop, setting it on the empty space on his dresser.

"I'm going to get changed. Want some clothes to borrow for the night?" he asked her, going through the drawers of his dresser. He grabbed his pajama pants, then a loose undershirt. He then grabbed a pair of old draw-string shorts and an old tee shirt for Renee.

  • Renee looked down at her clothes and back over to him and nodded. She got off of the bed and walked over. "We should probably stop by my house tomorrow before heading to other business so I can grab some clothes and such for here for the time being. Later we might be too wrapped up in business to remember." She commented, wanting more then one pair of clothes.

When she was handed her clothes, Renee pointed. "I'll go change in the bathroom," She said with a little smile and walked away briskly.

Kurt just nodded his head, agreeing with what Renee told him. Yes, he would make sure that that would be the first thing that they would do tomorrow. He watched her walk off and took the time alone to get out of his own clothes. He savored the feeling for a moment, the feeling of not being in his confined, safety garments, sighing as he slipped into his pajamas.

When he finished, he sat the snacks aside on the nightstands, pulling the covers back and plopping down on his side. He sighed and crossed his arms behind his back, waiting for Renee. While he waited, he thought. He thought about the troubles they'd face tomorrow, the fact that they had finally kissed, if it would be too forward of him to hold her tonight as they slept...if he could sleep, that is. He was still trying to get used to these new sleep schedules.

  • Renee undressed and dressed, not doing so quickly. There was no time to rush. She kept realizing that sometimes the small things, like time, meant more when death was on the horizon. The worrying and killing was all around, yet there was still a little time to do other things. The world was still turning. They were still alive. And they had finally gotten over the barrier that had been pressing against them since they teamed up. So not all was lost.

Renee exited and put her clothes to the side before getting up on the bed as well. The clothes were a little big for her, but not too bad. She layed down and pulled the cover up over her. "Should we set an alarm or?"
