Grr... I have papers. I need to write that article review for His 200, work on that research paper for Islamic Civ, get together with my group on that project for American History: Reconstruction to Present, work on that paper for Women in Legal Studies, finish up that paper for Politics in film, and write up the reflective journal on the trip to Gettysburg and D.C.

I have too much to do!

The probability of getting a certain number on one die is one in six, but doubling the number of die multiples your number of potential outcomes.

The way I see it... it doesn't matter what number the first die lands on. The second die has a 1/6 chance of landing on any number.

I decided the answer was 1/2 because its 6 ways to get teh same number out of 12 ways.

That's an interesting exercise. I did not take Probability and Statistics in college.

@Nanenna: It's not as hard as say German or Russian, but because I knew some Spanish I'm getting really messed up. There's just enough the same to make me feel like I understand... then they go and tell me that 'gli' sounds like 'ye' and 'gna' is pronounced 'nya.'
Oh and J, K, Y, and X don't exist. At all.

I enjoy my classes. Really, I do, but I hate how these sorts of classes always come down to beastly papers at the end of the semester.

Actually, I take that back. Dr. Rubin's classes won't have horrific papers just because he hates having to read long papers. It's Dr. McConnell who loves assigning long papers.

I feel fairly certain that the number wouldn't be 1/2, but Nenna's answer sounds reasonable.

I'm not in a prob or stat class either. I'm in math for people who need to use it in the real world with non-math related majors.

Oh, I know some Spanish so that would probably mess me up too.

@Dream: I took German for my language rquirement. I didn't think it was all that hard compared to any other language class I've taken, and it's really interesting since both it and English are Germanic languages. They're basically from the same family of language, and there are some places where it definitely shows.

I hated school, and yet I want to eventually go back. I must like punishment DX

English is a mutt language with roots in German, Latin, Greek, Nordic, and more!

I know. I refer to it as the cannibal language because it takes words and phrases from pretty much every other language it comes in contact with. Still, it is considered to be a Germanic language.

I need to get back to learning Japanese too. I lapsed pretty badly, but I've still managed to retain a few things.
