And Shannie, if this setup is based on the discussion a few pages ago, I'm guessing this setup will only be for the items that rarely sell, or haven't been sold in a while. Since the more recent items still "sell", we can still use the normal price guide method. After all, if this setup were to be used for, say, the January 2011 CIs, most of the sales will be only days apart and the prices are almost similar anyway. xDD;; <3<3

I wouldn't suggest using that method for items that sell multiple times in a month. XD That is just me though.

I like the method, though, still harder to dictate a vday or patty's price. Though, I do remember a pop going for 180k either early last year or later 2009.

I believe the plan is only to use the new method for the super rare items. It's too hard to do for every item.

What constitutes a "rare" item though? I mean, there are some obviously rare ones, but where is the line drawn between a rare item and one that isn't. Is there a specific time stamp or something? Or does it not have to be sold for X number of days/months? Just curious~ =O

An item that is less often in the exchange then another. I wouldn't necessarily constitute Panda and Bee slippers as rares since you can find them quite often in the exchange, but I would consider a Ninja/Booty a rare since they tend to be hoarded up more often and not really released out into the exchange unless someone is clearing out a mule account.

Define often? I think the Panda/Bee Slippers still only come out around once or twice a month, so updating-wise with the new format, it's still possible to add them to the rares section since their prices can fluctuate every month or two. ^^;;

Hmm, maybe that can be a measure then? If an item is only sold once a month or less, then it becomes a rare item? xDD;; This is taking into account the new monthly/last bought on format though. =O <3<3

Well, it can be defined in many ways. Just have to see how they are defining it.

I actually think the intention is to do it for all items that came out before a certain cut-off point. The most-recent items will probably not be upgraded to the new system because of how much their prices fluctuate and how constantly they sell.

This is only a guess as Cherry didn't specifically state it in the thread where the staff were discussing it.

Even if the price wasn't there, but Just letting us know what were the names of the CI and how they look for each month
Sometimes I forget what CI were what month and every time I go to this month there is only January

CI & EI Guide????

I agree that having the guide available as a reference is a good thing, especially when users don't know the names of particular CIs and EIs.

But I also think it's too time consuming for the staff to have to keep updating it. Maybe keep the guide and just put a MP link to the item in question, which will show it's data and whatnot. That way the staff won't have to worry about a lot of the easy selling stuff.

I for one am very thankful that this marketplace is so much more intelligent than some I have seen. It's great that it only shows the ranges of sales for SOLD items. That really helps in avoiding artificial inflation, like when only a few people list and list for really ridiculous amounts and no one buys. If anything, I have seen DEFLATION because of the marketplace...o.O With the simplicity of selling from their instead of trying to only use a thread it has allowed so many items to come out of dark corners! ^_^ The preview button in the marketplace makes me very happy. <33 It's like one-stop shopping. =P

Well they are 3 years old now (wow I can't believe it's that long xD) so I would say its reasonable now to call them rare. I guess I just thought pretty many people had participated in that event and I think there are still quite a few available. It could be people just aren't putting them up for sale because they don't see a demand for them right now. Were you trying to find some to purchase hiriyuu: ? Or just curious?

hm, well looking, I'm always looking. I just rarely see them around. was thinking on seeing how much more I need to buy them, but hard when their price is jumped every time one even shows up in exchange.

as for the uncommon versus rare, i believe patties day stuff shows up if you type uncommon in the auction.

hiriyuu: - ok I think I know what you mean. I have been using "valentines event 2008" and that brings up all the items for that event in the marketplace search. The only item that I don't see for sale is "Black Heartface Fox". Comparing the current for sale prices in the new marketplace to the price guide, all the items look to be within the same price range as the price guide, except for two items which are about 200 gold higher. But not a huge difference. One of the items is actually less than the price guide so you would be making out pretty fairly if you bought all the items. If I bought the cheapest one for sale I could get the whole set (minus the black heartface fox) for 5,055 gold. You would just need to post then in your exchange thread that you are looking to buy the black heart fox or wait for one to show up in the marketplace. I usually just search for the item and click on "watch item" if there aren't any for sale, that way it does the work for me. Let me know if you don't see the same thing. xD

The tag "uncommon" came from the auto-tagger script and will eventually be removed. :) I wouldn't take it as an indication of how rare it actually is.
