Yeah, it's mainly the boy cat, Loki, who hacks up hairballs. He's a longhair, and sheds like a dog, so lots of opportunity for hairball creation after he grooms himself.

yeah, Little Boy is long haired as well and takes his appearance seriously!!

Do you brush him at all, and does he purr while you do it?

he won't let me brush him. I think he doesn't like how hard the bristles are against his skin. he's old now and only wants pets and love and not scratches. and he purrs like a motor boat when I pet him ... but now he drools when he gets lovings and when I'm done he shakes his head and the drool goes everywhere, usually all over me!

I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter what you do, longhair cats will always have hairballs.

yeah, my short haired cat is just as conscious about his appearance but doesn't get hairballs.

yep... and since noone was home i had to clean them up.
after throwing up at 1am myself thats not a fun thing to do

my kitties are short hair and on hairball control food... but they are out of cat food and the only other thing i have to feed them is tuna

I found that the hairball control food tended to make my cats have even MORE hairballs than normal. I've had better luck simply with and "inside cat" formula; my cat hardly ever has a hairball while he's eating this.

I use the same kind of food usually. but it doesn't matter what kind of food I use, he has hair balls anyway.
