bleh. Your parents may raise you. And you should def be grateful. But just 'cause they raise you doesn't mean you gotta grow up to make them happy. Its your life, too. And if parents take issue with their children making their own life choices, they really shouldn't have become parents.

i guess it's the idea of like, you are their child and so
there is some giant family pride and you must be better than everyone else
so you gotta go to the top schools, marry the best husband/wife, have a highly respectable job, etc etc

generally asian americans are less strict about this; like my mom hasn't thrown me out ....yet OTL
she lets me do what i want, but she still pushes me to become a doctor, be skinnier, smarter, prettier, etc :/
i also can't back talk or say anything stupid or else she'll snap lol


that's another thing i really hate about my culture is that we always tend to compare each other
and you hear things like 'oh my kid went to harvard' 'oh yeah well my kid graduated top of the class and got a full ride to yale'
i dont know what is it with being the best at everything :/ maybe im just too pea brained to understand their high class life lol
