Akuma is from Street Fighters, or to specifically answer the question, he first made his debut in Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
Then he later appears as a secret unlockable character in other various CAPCOM games such as Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams, Street Fighter Alpha II, Street Fighter Alpha III, Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact and X-Men: Children of the Atom.

Street Fighter was one of the first arcade fighting game I was introduced to, alongside the King of Fighters. xD
(But I like the game play of Guilty Gear the best so far. ^^)

You should try Guilty Gear. I didn't know about the series till when I was at my friend's house and someone brought over Midnight Carnival to play. The first character I picked to use was Axl-Low (mind, this was my first time playing), and somehow, I managed to defeat my friends several times. Needless to say, he's my all time favourite character right now. xD;;
But if you like Iori, I think you might like Sol. ^^

Ooh~ Mortal Kombat. I have one of the game too, but I didn't play it much. These brawler games are only fun when you have someone else to play with you. Playing alone is not as fun.

I'll be leaving to Australia for studies by next week. So I might not be very active after. =D
