Cats.
No doubt about it.
They don't smell. If you train them right, there is no risk of stepping in poo. Most are calm. They are living therapy pads. They made perfect cuddle-buddies. the list could go on :heart:
Though, I admit, there are some nasty cats. I still prefer them over dogs.

Heyyy I thought more people were going to like dogs! I'm surprised to see people on Menewsha like cats better! :) I like both, but I don't know what it is about cats...maybe it's because they're so clean and cuddly <3 Haha, sound like such a girl right now >.<

This a really hard question! For me, it really depends on the specific dog or cat.

I'm a cat person. There are very few dogs I like.

I like both. All in all though, I gotta root for team cat. Every time I see my uncle have to bundle up to walk his dogs in horrid weather or nasty cold, I just gotta laugh as I bask in the comfort of not-leaving the house. I don't have to walk my pet. Hah!

kittens are just so cute, but dogs are so amazing, i love my dog and wouldn't take any cat in the world for him, i love huskies so much.

I like them both, but doggies are more friendly towards you while kitties just leaves you alone.

i love cats, dogs, and rats. i haven't really been around any other pet much, though. but i don't see why anyone would want to choose between any of them. why not just have some of them all? :D

Cats are waaaayyy better than dogs!

I would have to conclude that felines are superior to canines, for the following reasons:

a) I do not have to walk a cat. If I truly desired to, I could with proper training, but I do not have to.
b) Cats' fur, in my experience, is often more soft and pettable than a dog's. Some dogs LOOK fluffy, but when you pet them it actually feels like hair, because it is hair, not fur.
c) Mail carriers are much less likely to refuse to deliver your mail if they see a cat behind one screen door. We had a small dog, and our mailman would literally drop the mail and run like hell if we only had the screen door closed, and not both door closed. Mind you, this dog looked pretty vicious when she barked. But she was very happy and sweet as soon as she met you. Very bizarre.
d) Cats do not CONSTANTLY need your attention. Some may need your attention when you don't want to give it, but at least they do not want it CONSTANTLY the way dogs sometimes do.
e) Cats purr and dogs do not. The purr is very soothing and comforting to me, and there is nothing better to curl up with a purring cat and pet it on your bed on a day when you're not feeling well. Dogs cannot purr.
f) Cats are able to make pretty vocal sounds. I realize that they also make some god awful sounds too, but they can also make pretty ones. It's a lot harder to find a dog that makes a sound you can categorize as 'pretty'.
g) More cats come litter trained than dogs.
h) Some cats come with a built in rodent exterminator - that doesn't require massive amounts of barking.
i) Cats have better night vision
j) Cats don't slobber. They might drool, but they don't slobber, and the drool is rare. Unless it's my cat Elizabeth. She drools kind of frequently. ^^;
k) Cats are sexier. Think of all the sexiness associated with cats - Catwoman, catsuit, cat eyes, panthers, tigers, etc. How much sexy is there in a dog? Well, aside from Twilight and Hugh Jackman...eh...Yo Quiero Taco Bell?
l) If you don't know how to hunt, cats will bring you dead mice to try and teach you how. If they like you that is. If you're worthy.
m) Cats don't sniff your crotch on a regular basis, and they especially don't stick their muzzle in your crotch when you have your period and take a big whiff of it, just to see how much you're bleeding.

Cats all the way! I love their personalities, and they're so funny and cute!

Edit: Lol, Renee, I love your analysis. So true. Is there anything quite like curling up with a purring kitty and taking a nap?

dogs are better (in my opinion, even though even i have to admit that kittens are really cute) because....
a)walking the dog is fun because they get all happy and its really cute
b)true, but thats only some dogs. my dog, for example, is perfectly hug-pettable.
c)thats if your dog is like vicious or something O.O... yeah, my dog absolutely dispises the mailman and would probably eat him if she got the chance, and she barks a lot at dogs and squirrels, but she is SO CUTE with people. also, the barking means that the dog is trying to protect its owners, which shows that dogs are more loyal and intelligent than cats.
d)true, but the dogs's wanting attention shows how much they love their owners :D. And its cute >.< also, that cats want privacy kind of makes them boring (to me)
e) yeah, but when a dog is really happy you can tell - they get all cute and cuddly...and my dog actually makes this kind of sound when she is really happy which is, in a way, kind of like a purr O.O.
f) true, but dogs have more animated facial expressions and body language. if they want something, they will find a way to clearly show you what they want. if my dog's toy is under the couch and she cant reach it, she will bark at it and try to dig under the couch to get it. if she wants to go outside, she will look from at you, and then at the door, and back and forth until you let her outside. *my dog is really smart though, many dogs arent as smart as she is...
g) a smart dog will know not to go to the bathroom inside the house...wow that sounded wierd lol O.o

i) dogs are smarter and have a better sense of smell
j) some dogs dont slobber...
k) twilight lol...the sexy-ness makes cats seem snobby and stuck-up, as if they are better than you...dogs are like todlers that look up to you.

Doggies! I own two Shetland Sheepdogs, which are medium-ish very fluffy dogs. My one dog is Kelly, she does obedience training and is a champion in obedience stuff; my other dog is Gabe and he's a showdog and also a champion. They're both really smart and I've done therapy work with them before, which is a lot of fun. :3 I do a lot of stuff with both of them, I just love dogs. Someday I'd like to have a poodle too, they're really smart as well. So yeah, my vote is for the canine companions!
