Veata was surprised to see the fresh wound on Darius' beaten friend. She looked towards the direction of the guild master's office. 'Cain's as ruthless as ever." she thought. She couldn't see the man behind the desk from her vantage point and frankly, she didn't want to. The snake eyed woman watched the back of the half-elf move away from her. He seemed smaller somehow, but the gray eyes she saw earlier held something more. Was it determination? Relief? Anger? She could not tell. But it was definitely emotion, something she didn't see when he was killing the guards at the tavern. Veata tried to think of something to say, but words escaped her.

Areyse got up off the floor of Cain's office then walked down the hallway to his room and to his surprise the noble woman was still there. His dual colored eyes looked her up and down and he spoke softly, "Either turn around or close your eyes." Then he started removing his clothes right there in front of the woman and found some dry clothes attempting to avoid getting sick although if he were going to be sick there was no way to avoid it now. His mind was distracted and he was still in pain from the blow Cain had delivered to him. Now that his eyes had been opened the woman was quite attractive yet he was not in the mood to think of such things and he laid down on his bed holding on to his head where he had be struck.

Daeman looked at him as she passed then looked away. "I must go do something. Wish me luck not to get beaten as well." She looked at her new friend then back towards the office of Cain. She started to walk towards it uncrossing her arms and leaving her blades in their sheathes reluctantly. She crossed into the office looking at Cain. "Excuse me. I believe i must report in for the massacre as well. It wasnt either of their blames. This tragedy lies souly on my shoulders. I was the one with the information and lead the infiltration." She wasnt exactly telling the truth about the last part and looked at Cain as if she had. She watched his movements closely to see if she could find any weaknesses in whatever he did.

Cain moved without being seen once again, snagging Daeman by the throat and slamming her against the wall. "I don't want to see this happening again, woman." The guild leader snarled at her, slamming her back against the wall again. "Why is everyone so defiant today?" Dropping Dae, Cain stepped back to his desk. Tapping a few papers, he glared back to the woman. "Take these with you. They are your next assignments. Be sure to deliver some of them to your other companions, as directed by the names printed on them." The guild leader turned away from the assassin, Cain sat. "Leave."
Selene blushed as she was aware of the assassin in the room, and turned her face to the wall. After many minutes of staring at the wood, the noble's green eyes began to stray to the floor.
"Ahre you finished?" she asked, shaking her red hair away from her face. When she heard no response, Selene turned about angrily, furious that she was being ignored. The sight of Areyse brought a dark blush to her cheeks. The woman quickly stepped over and flung a blanket, one she had been using earlier, over his form. When she saw that he was hurt, she reached down and grabbed his hand, looking at his wounded head.
I hate this man, she had to remind herself. "Whahtever happened to you?" Selene whispered, brushing the hair away from his temple gently. Seeing the assassin, even one that had been around to mess up her life, in pain made her feel a bit sympathetic. Was there fighting amongst themselves? Were guild members harming one another?

Daeman knew he was fast as he grabbed her by the throat and slammed her into the wall twice. She got up from second slam. Defiant? I can show you defiance if you really want to see it. I would gladly show you defiance you malicious ba*****. I would be glad to make you think that no one is listening to you anymore. "Yes sir" She said reluctantly. Her tone wasnt a good ill follow your orders. It was an ill follow orders only because i have to. She grabbed the papers from him and walked out of his office. She stopped next to the door at the wall unseen. What she got wasnt as bad as it usually was but it made her bones ache a little from it. She was lucky she didnt get a concussion. She took the papers and looked at the names on them. She looked at Veata who was still where she had left her. She leaned against the wall and took a couple deep breaths.
(leaving room for names.)

Opening his eyes to look at the woman who was removing his hair from his face he spoke with a soft voice, "It doesn't concern you but thank you for the sentiments." Areyse thought about the kind words that had escaped his lips and he was shocked that he knew how to formulate words that way. He was surprised that the woman would even take the time out to even bother with him but for some reason she was and it made him feel... weird. He didn't know what to do but he refused to lay a finger on her again and with the notion of that thought he said, "I'm sorry for earlier. I should have never laid a finger on a woman. I apologize for my previous actions but under normal circumstances you would already be dead but thanks for my partner you lived. Your father is dead now and you have no reason to still be here so you can leave at your leisure."

"Leave at my-?!" Selene's bright green eyes widened. "My fahther is dead?!" The noble sprang to her feet, stepping away from the dark elf. "How? When?" Her anger melted suddenly, and tears sprang to her eyes.
"He's really dead?"
The pale woman sank to the floor, sniffing once. Leaning her head down, she rested it against her knees. Wrapping her arms about her legs, the green fabric of her dress rustled slightly as it was disturbed. A sob escaped her lips; Selene began to weep, her mourning quiet.

Areyse sat up and winced at the throbbing from his head and then got up and walked over to the girl, "Your savior was also the man to kill your father but it was quick and painless. Killing men of influential status is our job, we can't disobey our orders because of feelings unfortunately so we are bound to leave or we're punished both most likely leading to our death in either case. Look I know coming from me this doesn't mean anything but I'm sorry for your loss. It shouldn't have happened this way." The dark elf lifted the woman to her feet and placed her head to his chest. His voice was so majestic and truly sincere and he hoped she would understand that.

Daeman started to head towards the lobby. She looked at her own assignment and then back at the names. She stopped at Veata. "Heres your assignment from Cain." She handed her the paper and then went towards Aresyes room. She knocked on the door and slipped the paper under it. "Its the next assignment. Tell the girl in there im sorry for her loss." She left and went towards Atticus' room and knocked there too. "Atticus can i come in?"

[I'm sorry Daeman, I took too long :( I had most of this written up before I saw the newer posts and I had to edit it over and over again  I'm not a fast typer.]
"Yeah." replied the djinn, watching the silver-blond step into the tyrant's den. The drow assassin had emerged from it moments earlier after Attcus and seemed to have been punished as well.
She waited patiently for the woman to return, ignoring the two loud slams that came from Cain's office. The djinn wondered why everybody seemed to allow Cain to bully them. Was he really so fearsome?
"I take it he wasn't happy with you either?" she said to the assassin after she emerged holding a few papers.
"Here's your assignment from Cain." The woman handed her a mission paper before heading off without saying another word. "I guess we'll still have to deal with missions sooner or later." Veata said to herself as she looked through hers.
Veata went to look for Darius, finding him not too far from where she and the assassin woman had been talking. "Darius, are you going to be down here for a while? I'm going to check on some friends upstairs first. It seems Cain won't be going elsewhere for a while. Tell me if you find out anything."
The spearwoman, slowly made her way up one of the guild's old wooden stairs, not realizing that the fiery red-head from the bar had managed to sneak into the guild. The sound of her heels fading as she climbed. She knocked on a few of the doors on the second floor, finding that two of them where empty and the other three had new occupants. They each told her that the previous owners of their rooms had been sent to the afterlife. She gritted her teeth at the news but had already expected it. Moving to the third floor, she did the same. This time she found some of the people she had been looking for. Three of them had been asleep and four were out on missions. Veata was only able to talk to two. From what they told her, it seems that Cain had them working practically everyday. Half of the town had grown to fear him and he was able to take out two other major guilds since she had left with Darius. A few guild members were able to escape this guild and join other rival guilds but her friends haven't heard from them in a while. Others, she already knew, were killed.
"Thank you." she said, preparing to leave her weary guildmates so that they could rest. "One more thing, where are Cloud Whisper and Dark Sky?" She was referring to the two people left alive who she entrusted her heartstone's location to.
Her companion with shaggy teal hair blinked as he looked at djinn with surprise. "Didn't anyone tell you? They're already dead."
For a moment, Veata could not comprehend what had been said to her. "What?" she finally blurted.
Her other friend who had blond hair continued for the man. "Cain killed them soon after he killed Snow."
"Then who-?" the djinn began.
"We don't know who said anything about your stone." the blond woman continued, her voice ragged and raspy. "All we know is that Cain had it after he killed all three."
Veata closed her eyes for a moment then thanked her two friends again. She headed up the last flight of stairs to the fourth floor where her room would be or should be. Heading to the southwestern most corner quarters, she noticed that her door was no longer locked. She cautiously pushed it open and after finding no danger, walked through. Her bed, her belongings, her other armors were all damaged. Her room looked ransacked, her storage chest open and empty. Dust now covered the shreds of her property. She sighed at the sight. This had most likely been done by the new guild members. She quietly closed the door behind her and slid down to a crouch on the floor, dust swirling about her. "Tch."

"We were going to go home tomorrow," Selene whimpered, collapsing against Areyse. She shook with sobs, keeping them silent as she covered her face. "We were only staying here for the month. Ahnd now I don't know whaht to do."
Shoving her head against the dark elf's black chest, she continued to cry.
"I don't know whaht to do, or whaht to think. My fahther was my only family." She sniffed, wiping away a stream of tears with a green sleeve. "He was the one that tucked me in at night, that made sure I ate every meal. Fahther brought me with him when he traveled, told me things would be alright when my world seemed about to end."
The noble, overcome with grief, sank against the drow, wrapping her arms about him. "What should I do now that he's gone?"
Atticus heard the knock at his door, and didn't reply at first. When Daeman knocked again, the assassin groaned. "What is it?"
His shirt had, once again, been shirked onto the bed. Laying on the his bed, the half-elf continued glaring at the ceiling. With his clothing still damp, Atticus ignored all discomforts, even the wounds he recently sustained.
"What do you want, Dae?" he said, his voice softening when the woman entered.

Areyse didn't have an answer for her so he tightened her grip on her when she wrapped her arms around him and he held her in silence. When he finally got up the courage to say something to her he said, "I don't know what to say to you that will give you comfort or better yet there is nothing that I can say. The loss of a loved one is something I can emphasize with as our leader killed my parents to attain my life. I plan on leaving this guild behind soon maybe in the morning I haven't decided yet but this lifestyle is the only one I know and I can't give it up. At least not right now."

The elven killer let her go and then stared into her eyes and spoke so gently to her, "As I said before my parents were killed to obtain me and this was when I was so young I could barely walk. All my life I've been trained to kill men and or women who step beyond their boundaries of power or threaten this country one way or another." He walked over by the window and let the moonlight hit his face giving him the appearance of a lonely soul then spoke with his majestic voice, "Whatever was out there in that world is no longer a life that I can lead. This lifestyle suits me whether I like it or not and the principles behind what we do are not bad it is just a matter of prospective. Someone from the outside looking in, such as yourself, may see what we do as a heinous crime. But on the other hand someone who is looking out for the best interests of our nation may see what we do as a miracle so it is all subjective." The assassin looked the woman in the eyes with a solitary expression on his face, "Don't misunderstand I do like my line of work for I am serving my country and nation but it is this place where we stand that I hate. And that... that is why I'm leaving this place soon. I can't stay here subjecting myself to these atrocities that we're committing." His expression shifted from a lonely one to one of sorrow and agony.

The Rider leaned against the wall outside of Cain's office with his eyes closed. He wanted to sleep so badly, he needed to hit the sack if he wanted to be in top form, but Veata wanted him to keep up with Cain. Darius took a deep breath and let his head fall lightly back on the wall... that was better.
Though, he supposed idly, it wasn't the typical way someone in an assassin's guild would usually stand, what with his neck fully exposed and his eyes closed. He'd just having to keep his ears sharp, right? Who was he kidding? There were elven bloods here. The best he could hope for would be that anyone passing by would be of a lower order than he was and be tricked into believing Darius was just that confident.
Those thoughts were melting away with the minutes as sleep slowly claimed Darius' mind despite being on his feet.

"Hey." Veata said, placing a hand on the sleeping human's shoulder. "If you're gonna sleep, it'd be wise to do it some place safer."
It had been an hour since the djinn had gone upstairs. She had spoken to people and tried to clean up whatever was left of her things. Her room now had a clear floor but dust still remained in patches here and there. She had tossed off her bug infested mattress, deciding it would be best to get a new one in the morning. She made sure to secure her room better, but knew the locks could be picked again by anybody from the guild. Veata had gone down to check on Darius' progress and was surprised to find him sleeping right outside the enemy's office.
"I've just received a mission." she said, holding up her papers. "I'll be heading out in the morning. Looks like we won't be able to do much tonight. It's probably best if we didn't anyway, we're both beat. I'm staying at an inn tonight. Goodnight Darius, and thank you."
Veata walked out of the cold guild and into the midnight rain. Only a few lights were on in the dark town now. After checking into a nearby inn with half of her last amounts of currency, the spearwoman retired to her temporary home for the night.

Daeman looked at him as she opened up the door. "Its your new assignment and an old friend at your door. Why is it that whenever i come near you, you have a harsh tone with me." She walked up to him seeing his wounds. This wasnt good. What happened to him? She sat next to him on the bed and placed the assigned paper on the bed side table. "Let me take care of your wounds this one time so your not in so much pain." She didnt want to show her softer side but couldnt help it around Atticus when he was hurt or in pain. She got up and went to the dresser which still had her ointment on it and brought it over. "So im guessing that was just the start for what we did."

Darius was dazed upon waking up, and nodded to Veata. Not that he totally caught what she was saying. I'm pretty cold. What? Did she ask me if I was playing attention? The Rider's attention perked up just in time for her to say her goodbye. Darius blinked at her some before croaking out a sleepy "...Bye."
He listened intently to the empty hallway around him, trying to focus himself on what was going on behind the door next to him. It had been so long since he had seen that office that he had forgotten several details about it. As the minutes passed the rider's mind wandered: Surely they aren' going to call me into work on the tavern fiasco... they would let me have another day to rest up. And if I did... would Cain even know who I am? Why hasn't Atticus come yet? Or did I miss him? Did Atticus just not bother me while I was asleep next to the door? Darius sighed to himself. He wanted his friend to know he didn't want to judge him- that he would forgive everything Atticus did knowing that everything he did anymore seemed to be against his will. No, no this is just going to upset me if I start thinking about it now. Its best to stop thinking.
The man needed some real sleep, but thinking about getting to his bed meant thinking about going outside into the cold and wet outdoors once again. Darius slid down the wall and rested his head on his arms. Off to his left he could hear footsteps but he waved it off as being loose boards in some far room. The rain outside melded with it, then over took it in volume. Despite his attempt to keep awake, this battle was also lost. The grown man drifted back to sleep, folded up like a child against Cain's doorway.

Selene wiped the last of her tears away, forcing herself to calm down. "You sound pained," she mumbled coming to stand beside him at the window. Looking up at the dark elf, Selene let her green eyes linger on his black face. "I'm sorry." The woman looked out to the moon. "My troubles are so much smaller than yours. I shouldn't be bothering you with such things, not when you've known so much worse than I."
She sighed, reaching over to link her arms about one of Areyse's. "I'm sorry," she repeated. A strange thought flickered through her mind, and Selene forced it off. I am supposed to hate this man. Why has that suddenly changed? It seems . . . wrong.
Atticus glanced over to Daeman, sighing. "More work?" The half-elf grimaced. "Cain should rot in-" he cut himself off. It wasn't wise to speak of the guild leader in such ways, especially if it was inside of the building he dwelled. One never knew who was listening in.
Siiting up, the assassin shrugged when Dae assumed his punishment was only the beginning. "You know how Cain is," he grumbled. Glancing at the folder she had left beside his bed, the half-elf frowned. "He said something about weeding out spies. I assume that's my next job." Shaking his head, Atticus' long ash-brown hair fell about his face and shoulders.
He then focused on Daeman, watching her bring her materials over. He snorted lightly, turning his gaze over to the far wall. Anyone that knew him well enough would be able to point out that he hated this part. The stitching, the healing . . . it made him sick. He hated to feel so . . . so temporary and weak. Perfection had no room for weakness' like pain.
But he wouldn't stop her. Atticus wouldn't stop Dae; she was only doing what was best. Once again, Areyse's words came to mind. I am not alone. The thought made his gray eyes soften, and he brushed his hair away from the wound. "Thank you," he whispered, for once actually meaning the words.
((Alright, everyone! Anybody who recieved a folder from Cain, be sure to PM me. I'll give you individual "missions" to work on.))
((Oh, and for Rae! You most likely should go for Cain any time you wish. :D He has many defenders, so we'll see what happens.))

"I know it could be worse but hold still for a minute." Daeman laughs at what he believes his next assignment is. She takes his shirt off over his head to reveal all the wounds. She winces when she sees the through and through of the blade on his shoulder. "Ouch... well that isnt as bad as a while back if i remember correctly." She rubbed his back with the ointment so that it would take away any pain or feeling of the treatment as she did it. "Its some new stuff i made so i wouldnt have to feel the pain of the stiching." She walked over to the dresser grabbing the needle and thread placing it down next to her. She starts to massage the ointment over any of the wounds trying to make it so that he relaxes at the same time. Then after he is relaxed just enough she threads the needle and starts to close the wound from the back of the shoulder. "I wonder who he thinks wants to kill him or even who he thinks the spies are. Of course knowing him he would just put down random names and say they were spies just to instill fear."

The drow heard his fellow assassin deliver another mission to his door and give her condolences to the woman now linked to him. He looked over at the envelope and felt a strong sense of rage come over him but he made the feeling die out quickly. The elven assassin had been a little shocked that he was being so kind to the woman here in his room but he felt... obligated to do so after what had happened and he was now starting to feel a connection of some sort with her.
Looking down into her emerald colored eyes the drow gave her a serene smile then finally said with his tone very solemn and majestic, "I don't believe I have properly introduced myself... My name is Areyse. And to be honest this life has it's pros and cons like any other but I think this chapter of my life is just about over." Just as he finished saying those words he collapsed to the floor in pain.
His head was reeling and he knew that he had a concussion from the strike that Cain had given him. He had a headache and had been feeling light-headed since he stood up and now he felt sick to his stomach. He placed his right hand gently on his head and sat up against the wall with his eyes closed. The elven assassin had never been hit that hard in the head before this was a feeling he would not soon forget.

"Mmm," Atticus closed his eyes. Despite the pain, it was relaxing. The assassin took a deep breath as he saw Daeman thread the needle, but felt nothing. "It works well," he commented on the ointment that the woman spread on his wounds. He then fell silent, watching her as best he could while she worked to stitch him up.

Daeman made her movements fluid like and when she was done stitching it up she started massaging him more feeling his relaxation increase and tension decrease. "Im glad it works. Otherwise you would be hating me right now" She laughed a little. "He slammed me against the wall twice when i reported in. I think hes getting a little softer." She looked at him stopping the massage and then going to the front of him. Daeman took some of the ointment putting it on his wound in the front and rubbing it in gently. She looked into his eyes then took another needle putting it in a flame to sterilize. She started to stitch this one up too. "Did he twist a blade or put a club right through you?"

Rae had been watching silently from her place in the shadows. She stayed there until Darius fell asleep against the door. It was a good thing in her eyes that it was Darius and not those guards that were standing there still. She really didn't want to make any more noise than she had to.
Surveying the area, she made notes of the guards that had their backs to the room. Snorting silently, she turned her attention back to Darius. It was just like guards to think that the danger lay outside the room. Thanking her leather boots and how quiet they could be, she padded softly over to another shadow just behind Darius. Waiting a moment, she inched closer to him, trying not to disturb him just yet.
As quickly as she could, Rae crouched down, placing one hand on the sleeping forms mouth. "Just stay quiet. It's the red head from the tavern. Now. Do you want to help me kill Cain? If so, nod and do not get any other help yet. Unless you think that we need it of course." She stayed like that as long as she dared, waiting to see what Darius had to say about it. She knew that she might need help, and she also knew that some of those that were in the tavern hated Cain. That much went without needing to be said.

"Blade," Atticus said quietly, meeting Dae's gaze. "And I agree - Cain's getting soft." The assassin avoided watching the needle as she stitched up the wound. "Are you alright?" he asked after a few moments of silence. It was almost hard to form thoughts, let alone sentences, as his body relaxed more and more. The half-elf almost felt himself slipping into sleep, but fought it off.
"Did he hurt you badly?"
Selene gasped as Areyse fell to the floor, kneeling down next to him with a worried expression.
"Areyse," she whispered, placing her hand over his as he pressed it against his head. "What can I do to help you?" Her curly red hair bounced about her face as she leaned toward him, eager to give the assassin aid.
