You bid like you would in a normal auction. Sometimes they will sell things separately and/or by the case. Things are usually pretty cheap for the most part. For example we got a case of paper towels which has 30 rolls in it and we only paid $20 for the case. So we paid about $0.67 a roll for the towels.

It is and that case of paper towels will probably last us about 4 months or so.

A fair amount of people show up to them. Even so there are rarely any huge bidding wars since everyone know that they guy that brings in the stuff usually lowers the price after the bidding is finished.

It is. He'll sell bags of utz, snyders, and other name brand chips/pretzels for $1 to $1.50 each.
I got a case of the snack bags of Nacho Buggles for $7.50. That made my night, lol.
