I had a general idea what that meant ^^"
But, I try not to be out too late somewhere unless I'm with Mike. ^^"

Yeah, the propane tanks had a lot of fuel in them. The largest ones had over 10k gallons in them. If those exploded, there would probably not be a Hamlet of Mumford or part of the town of Caledonia in New York State.

Oh holy shizzlenatch. Colfax. Dear God. That place is just a vile bubbling cesspit of the worst parts of humanity. XP It's in Colorado's capital (Denver). I like Denver, it's fun to spend a day in, but I've never lived there. Talk about a town where walking one block one way will get you killed, and one block the other will put you in some gated community where you can't even afford to sneeze. (Let's just say that we lock the doors on our cars while we're driving in that town)

And yeah, Colorado sets its ass ablaze every summer. I've never seen anything like last summer before, and this summer is supposed to be WORSE. It's supposed to be the worst drought since 2003, and trust me. It's gonna take something to outdo that year for heat at least.

That is one thing I like about being a bigger girl, I have never been in a fight but I have given a "Yeah I'll kick your ass" look to anyone that started acting like they were thinking about it. All I have to do is swell up and glare down and they never have to know I haven't a clue how to throw a punch XD

LOL Ely yeah Colfax is bad at first I lived at colfax and cook by the bluebird theater and that was actually pretty nice, older homes that had been divided into cute little bohemian apts and I could bike on sidewalks and enjoy a book outside with out TO much worry, but the closer you go to the Captial building and the court houses the worse it gets, (just a little ironic no? XD) Then I moved to Ogen (to be closer to the bigger concert hall yay priorities XD) which is more like the first statement still though NOT as bad as MLK O.o but is just like you say MLK is the GHETTO like scary but you just keep walking up towards the museum and zoo and then your like WHOA that a billion dollar home at lest.
I wish I could send some of our rain your way :(

O.O oh yeah that would have been insane and not really a lot you could do about it either.

Honestly though I can see upstate being really quite with how the big city is and all O.o if you need any excitement just go there XD

Haha, yeah, just play on their wussy nature. XD

Ahh, yeah, the area with the courthouse gave me mega creeps when I was down there awhile ago. The zoo and museum though are definitely like you said. I've never gotten a case of the creeps there. I kinda don't like it in the Elitches area of Denver, either, but that might just be me.

FoCo is pretty entertaining, and it's a pretty safe city, so I spend a lot of time up there for entertainment. Or I just head into the mountains...

I wish we could get some rain from somewhere. o.< I have just felt so dry and crinkly all freaking year. And last summer it was like living in an oven where somebody was burning dinner. XP If you've never experienced it, being near wildfires like last year was really something nuts. You couldn't see twenty foot in front of you sometimes! And I was miles from them.

yeah I don't think many people expect that reaction and it has worked thus far XD

Yeah I bought drugs in front of the court house many a times in that park XP cops didn't even seem to care if you even saw one.
Yeah the area with the musem are really nice until you start heading south (like if your driving on the highway I think there's like a church and pop eyes chicken on MLK) THAT area if you ever walk around in it is the only pace where I was like WOW now this is bad. Five points (the area around Six flags) is kinda funny because it WAS really ghetto but they are trying to make it really nice instead, but you can't really force the people out. So there's a very strange mix. Oh there's a coffee shop down there (or was maybe not now) that was 24 that I used to kick it in all the time

I've never had it TO bad though I did have a few years of smokey summers before I left. But in Denver you don't get a lot of smoke but you have smog every day Bleh so either way I wish it would rain more to help clear the air. I heard this one story from one of the fires where a family got WALLED IN by the fire and had to lie down in a small frog pond as the neighborhood burned down around them basically, I can only imagine how horrifying that would be.

I just go there on random daycations, so I don't know the place too well, but all of that sounds about right. My memories of Denver include smog, steam coming up out of sewers, and homeless people on the streets who you weren't sure were dead or sleeping. XP

Yeah, the front range is a lot worse than the Denver area. We don't get the snow, but we sure get the droughts. When the fires were really bad last summer I was taking care of my aunt's dog when she was in California, and I'd get up in the morning, look out the window, and just say "SHIT" because it was so smokey you could cut it with a butter knife, and the dog was up in the mountains. >.> And of course where her house was is right where you'd see the plume of smoke.

I know this sounds awful, but that family that was ringed in by fire was probably ringed in because of their own stupidity. The fire departments evacuate people well ahead of time, so if they were there it was their fault.

Yeah I couldn't tell you any of neighbor hood names of Ft. Collins at all, but I never got to see any of the shady area's my family up there are pretty snobby and rich XD We go from there home, to the ice rink and back.

Actually on the tv show they said that they had smelled smoke and called the fire dept. It was one of the first days of the fires and supposedly it was "miles away and fire men were already working to put it out, go to bed don't worry about it" and then mom woke up because of the heat of the woods just off there backyard were fully engulfed (something about the wind spreading it) so yeah I would be like "fire that women" It could have been the California fires rather then Colorado but on the news they kinda blend together.

Haha, well, I probably couldn't tell you the neighborhood names either. I don't live there. But I know all the streets and stuff, and I know that ice rink. I've been there twice with some friends. It's really expensive in some of the places there though. And those areas around the rink are pretty nice.

Ahh, well that makes it different. It could very well have been Colorado. When the fires started last season they spread across hundreds of acres in matters of minutes because of the wind. They jumped canyons like they weren't even there. So you can't blame the firemen for it, or the lady that told them they'd be okay, because they had no idea what they could do in the beginning.

Yeah they live barely 5 mins from the rink and they home schooled the kids and then sent them to Disney collage in Florida XD

I guess but if I smelled like campfire smoke with out there being a visible campfire right away I would leave the area, or at the very lest not go to SLEEP. Until I had rounded up family pets and pictures and gotten them to a hotel. The show was crazy though because the family had the choice of driving threw a wall of flame or the ft deep pool and the host TESTED both methods before you got to find out how they actually get out of it alive.

Lol, then you'd have been shit out of luck last summer here. You could smell "campfire smoke" EVERYWHERE and I was 50+ miles from that fire. It was so bad you had to physically try not to pass out constantly and there was nowhere to escape it, period. I was just happy when I got home and went inside because our air vents have filters so you could at least breathe indoors.

yeah it was never that bad anywhere by me. I would be living so paranoid. Psssh I barely leave my dog alone at the house as it is, I would be ushering the kitty into the car every time we went somewhere XD

Oh, nobody would blame you either. Every time I went to care for my aunt's dog I contemplated just taking her home with me. >.> I made sure where all the kitty crates were at our house and everything.

Yeah I'm so glad we never have any disasters here. *knocks on wood* but I still have two emergency kits (one at home and one in the car) At one point I was trying to make my kitties bed in the carrier so that it was a safe place she could run to and then I wouldn't have to try to catch her and get her in there in a panic.... great idea but kitty wasn't having it...

We really aren't in any imminent danger where I live. The things we have to worry about are hail storms and tornadoes, but tornadoes aren't known to hit here, they hit around us, and no place is safe from tornadoes. But we live on a hill, so floods most likely wouldn't impact us, and the fires are too far away.

I do remember being in Colorado as a kid and having to do the icing on a cake on the toilet cover because of a tornado warning when I was at my moms with no basement. But here, maybe a flood be they really plan well for it here most of the home here back irrigation dug creeks they try to make into nature preserves, they flood every spring but never come close to the back yards (well once, not in my area but on the way to work we saw one that had flooded pretty high but it still hadn't hit the guys deck but I still would have been freaking and sand bagging a little)
but yeah other then the rain, and I just mean rain I've only seen lighting twice out here. Which coming from the plains where thunder and lighting we more common then the rain itself, I was a little confused. Never really had tornado warnings, I think we had like a .3 earthquake once when people said the coast was going to fall in XP or we were going to get hit with the same wave the destroyed japan and it was like 3 ft XD
If anything did happen though I have everything (it was when the earthquake scare was going on that I went on emergency stuff buying binge XD)

I don't remember what was going on last year, but for some reason I thought getting emergency stuff together would be good. Never did, though. We've got enough in the house to probably be okay for awhile if something bad happened.

I think it was snowing really hard and I thought that we maybe wouldn't be able to get out the house for a few days.

Could have been the fires to? I dunno they just told just that Oregon was "over due" for an earth quake and for some reason that thought it was going to a monster but I didn't even know it had came and went till my grandma asked if I was okay XP

Yeah, glad I don't live somewhere with many chances for a disaster like that ^^"
We get blizzards, ice storms, big thunderstorms, and the tail end of hurricanes. We also do get windstorms. But, nothing major.

I wouldn't want to have to think too much about having to try to shove my cat into a kitty crate ^^" Though knowing him, I don't see too much of an issue.

Yup. The first one I remember back in 1991 was so bad we had no power on my side of the street for 8 days. Most places in my county didn't have power for almost 2 weeks.
We camped out in our living room and cooked in the fireplace. What I do remember of it, it was creepy quiet and the sound of the ice. My dad and brother would go over to my Aunt's and they would get firewood, my dad would go in the yard more to get the firewood and my brother would have to stand guard to watch for the tree limbs and yell at my dad if anything looked or sounded bad. That yard had a lot of trees in it. ^^"

The second one I remember, I was in high school. We lost cable, but not internet or electricity. My friend did lose power (she lived 2 blocks away), so she stayed over that weekend. We even had to go over to her house a couple times to check on her pets, was quite scary. Not too quiet, but could hear the cracking.

yeah that would terrify me. The sound of your whole neighborhood creaking and starting to give way around you. I can't really imagine the sound of ice but trying to makes me shiver.
I could imagine the fire dept. having a tough time to with everyone who didn't have a fireplace trying unconventional things to keep warm. Your lucky you had trees and fire wood, people in the city would be a bit screwed on that.

It might've been the fires that set me into a frenzy, but with that I was mostly worried about having to drag that spaztastic shit of a dog home in my car, and getting its food and stuff. Now don't get me wrong, I like taking care of it, and it's not an awful dog, it's just that it pees everywhere when it's even remotely excited.

Anyway, I'm finally done with tests for a couple of weeks! Ughhhh.
