Also, it's time for that fake nail product review!
Some time ago I got a free handout for some press-on nails:
I read the reviews and they made it out to be a terrible product but with hurricane Sandy hitting us here in NYC, I really had nothing to do and decided to give them a try.
Each bottle comes with multiple sizes. All you have to do is pick out the sizes you need, wipe your nails with the alcohol prep pad, peel off the clear tab to reveal the adhesive inside the fake nail and stick them on! Sounds simple enough right? Most of the reviews I read said that their nails popped off in a matter of hours but mine lasted all week with no problem. I actually took them off simply because I was getting tired of them, not because of any problems. Maybe the people who had trouble didn't press down firmly to apply? I pressed on each nail for about 30 seconds just to be sure.
As for removal, you can either use nail polish remover (which from what I've seen is a very messy process) or simply peel them off. I used a cuticle pusher tool and wedged it under the nail by the cuticle and just sort of pried them off. It wasn't too hard really. My nails weren't really damaged or anything underneath either.
My only hesitations about the product are that you have to have fairly short nails to apply them and that the plastic at the edge of the nail is pretty thick which makes it hard to actually grip things or scratch an itch, etc. Also, one other thing is that the plastic at the tips can be a little uneven so you might want to file them a tiny bit to get rid of any sharp edges. Towards the end of the week the tips were getting a tiny bit beat up but you couldn't really see it except upon really close inspection.
The best part about them is that the look very natural. I got quite a few compliments about them and people were very surprised to find out that they were appliques.
Here are some photos:
These are the first fake nails I've ever worn so I may not be the best judge of things but they seemed pretty good to me.
