The german copy we got had a user-added english track on top of the german xD
Kinda hard to read during some parts though.

True but I don't have any programs to download the movie. xD That and I don't have any back-up virus protectors besides my firewall to prevent viruses. That and my computer is a bish even though I have a game graphics video card inside underneath my motherboard. @ A @;

Just wait, I bet they'll made a special edition 3D blue-ray package for all the movies in the theaters right now.
Its how they make more money by selling special ones and regular ones after dragging them all out in theaters.

Definitely recommend seeing Avatar in 3D. :) Sadly the Imax version was sold-out when I went, but the 3D stuff was great and made the visuals really pop, which is a huge part of the movie experience since they love showing off the world so much.
I agree that the plot was really predictable, but I kind of took comfort in that. Although I may love them dearly, a lot of the "great" movies these days have to push the envelope so much that the viewing experience ends up being very bittersweet. In this case, I was happy to have things wrapped up in a neat package since I was interested enough in the characters/visuals to go along with the ride.
One thing I won't forgive is the absolutely stupid names they gave things. Unobtainium? Really?

LOL.
However, Navi was a cool name. So was Natiri and Tsu-ste and stuff. And ikran and the seeds of the sacred tree and such.
Imax wasn't that great due to being over crowded. Just plain 3d was better.

@Hatake: I didn't mind their language, I meant mostly the English terms they used for things. :yes: Like my bro pointed out, "Most of these seem to be ripped straight from Halo or something. "We call these 'banshees'." Couldn't they have been a bit more creative?"

The element they were trying to mine. They didn't really explain what it did, but it was supposed to be super duper valuable.

Avatar actually took 5 years to film
Cameron (writer and director of the film) also has 2 sequels planned
And i'm very impressed with the main character. He actually have a rather strong Australian accent, but he hides it well during the movie. Every now and then you can hear a little hint of it, though.
But thats all good. I love accents. ;D

Hatake, When the navi are speaking their language, are the subtitles in english when you go to the theatre? The version that I have has some weird language that I can't read and it makes me wonder if its like that in both the theatres and my download, or just my download.
|
No. The movie subtitles are all in English.

Seiki: The subtitles should be in a real language. The copy I watched had german subtitles xD
|
First, FernGully was a great cartoon anyway.
Second, almost all movies are predictable. Despite being able to tell what was probably going to happen at a few parts, it was still an amazing story.

No. You can see it either in 2D or 3D at almost all theatres.
You have the option as to which you plan to see.

Yeah, they make a lot of money, i'm sure, from having it being out in theatres in both 2D and 3D, and then at the IMAX too. I think this movie is earning a lot of moola.

Heh. They chose Unobtainium as a joke.

Banshees is a world that has been used for many years and far before videogames. Its a common term and it was an easy way for them to change something from a "foreign" language into simple english terms.

I saw Avatar 3D with my mom tonight actually! XD I thought the visual aspect was truly awesome. It was a beautiful movie. I think it'd be cool to be a Navi and live on Pandora... I liked a bunch of aspects of their culture -- the spirit tree and their connection with animals and nature. And I also appreciate that the language was created especially for the movie, and there are only a few people who are really good at speaking it. Most of the actors just memorized lines, but the linguists they hired to create the language were fluent.
And yeah, the story was totally predictable, but I was okay with that. I kind of got sucked in by the love story too. XP

I too would love to be a Na'vi in that world, Sizz.
Its amazing. I really do dislike humanity, and I already adore nature and animals. That is seriously the world and life for me. ><;; I would be a much happier person. And look, no more obesity! 8D;;
Its a really amazing sounding language, too.
And the songs on there are beautiful! :drool:
I really like this one: YouTube - Avatar Soundtrack - Jake's First Flight. Especially the last quarter of the song. Just beautiful.

I still stand by what I said. XD I didn't find the "humor" congruent with the feel of the story. Those weren't the only terms, but I can't remember the rest of them. And I am aware that banshees are an old term, but it's been so overdone these days they could have been more creative. They made up a whole language for pete's sake. (And the banshee one didn't even bother me, my bro said that. XD I thought "unobtainium" was lame.)
