Yup, you can vote if you're nominted, but you can't vote for yourself, and you can't vote with your mule

Theoretically, you should be able to vote for yourself if you think you're the best. If you're not that good, then your vote isn't going to make a difference anyway, and as is, the system encourages nominees to either not vote or to vote for people they don't think have a chance, for exactly the reasons Shaman said--they don't want to cause themselves to lose by one vote.

*Beats self in the head with his fist* I know not voting would be morally wrong, considering someone HAD been kind enough to nom me, so I should do the right thing and vote...

And I believe its good that you can't vote for yourself. Then I bet a lot of people would just choose themselves and not vote for anyone else.

Also, thats not what I do. When I vote, I vote for who I think is best. If I dont fancy the avis, then I dont vote, or if I only like some, then I only vote for those ones.

Very good point. I did the task. I actually studied the contestants and voted as I would have whether I was in or not. Its the right thing to do. The three avatars I chose were extremely well made and I honestly believe one of them will win.

EDIT: I actually never think of myself as the best, but I do strive to be good at designing. In my opinion, Suona has impressed me the most out of all designers I've seen. Not to say others aren't as good, or better, but Suona's style most reminds me of my own style, or at least the style I myself find most appealing.

Suona: You have three votes; what does it matter if one of them's for yourself?

In almost every real life contest, you are allowed to vote for yourself. Think about political elections. The candidates always vote.
