No problem, hon. I'm not a fan of birds (especially pest species), but I hate to see things hurt as well (which is why I'm a vet student).
If it does end up dying, though, I highly recommend *not* feeding it to your snake. Wild prey animals carry tons of diseases and if your snake is captive bread, he/she could get very sick from eating them.
Also, what kind of snake do you have?
(I have a corn snake)

Oh, she always eats wild ones and its never bothered her. We've done it since she was young, so its nothing new to her. And this is a dove that i'm pretty sure escaped from humans a few years back. And our snake is a red-tail boa. She's about 9 to 10 feet long.
I have no problem with birds, though. I think they can be very cute and have good personalities sometimes. I have a scarlet macaw myself, and they're very funny birds.

I have to get over that, though, since I want to do exotic and small animal vet med.

I got bitten by one hardcore that I had been really close with. It hurt like a son of a gun, and I never trusted them after that. Basically, to me, birds are just high enough on the evolutionary scale to mess with my head. Haha.

Yeah, he's bitten me a few times. He'll do that whenever he gets in one of those really bad moods. So we just leave him alone when he's being grumpy. They can definently hurt. Macaws can break a broomhandle if they wanted to, and ours has drawn blood before. He did for my cousin once because he kept bugging him even though we warned him to leave him alone, but he wanted to see if he'd really bite him. -__-;;

Smart cousin, Su. :rolls eyes: Haha. Yeah, I just....I like animals I can read better. I know what a reptile is going to do, and mammals give tons of signals. Birds are that funky in between that can get unpredictable.
@Cami: *giggle* Well, you know, pistachios, they are scary, scary nuts. Hehehe.

Its very true, steel
They like to suprise you, it seems. lol And they dont really show too much body language, but just enough to have an idea of what they may do. We can usually tell if our bird is mad, or if he is in a mood to be held or something. But he still just does random stuff. He'll suddenly scream all the time. And he acts like a 2-year-old and doesn't like any other animals getting attention. Haha
But he's great when he's behaving well.

Yeah, I mean, when they're *giving* signals, I can read them, but they throw tantrums out of nowhere! Heh. I'm also not a fan of Chow Chows, for that reason.
Between their fur and the scrunchy face and the lack of growling, I can't tell if they're happy or mad.
Edit: Hehe, oh Cami! I've always been suspicious of cashews. But I find walnuts to be very trustworthy. Haha.

Aaw. Chow Chows are so cute, though. ;3; lol
So can they not growl or something?

*snrk* Oh man, Twethereal. *That* made me laugh out loud, quite literally.
@Suona: They *can* growl, they just rarely do. Even when they're attacking. And they *are* super cute, but when you're restraining a dog for a painful event, it really pays to be able to read its body language.
@Cami: Indeed! How dare I! Haha.

@ steel - Aah. Yeah, I can definently imagine that that would be scary and worrysome.
Would be hard to be decently relaxed in helping them when you dont know if they might snap

Of course, having said that, I've never been bitten by a Chow Chow because I'm super careful around them. I *have* been bitten by a jerk of a Basset Hound, though.

My cat used to bite quite often, but not so much anymore. She's getting older. You wouldn't know it sometimes though. I swear she thinks she's a ninja.

Although, one of my favorite artists has a cat named "Benjamin Ninjabane". Who is, of course, very anti ninja. He protects the house from them. Hehe.
