Isis leaned back with him, not moving her head from his shoulder. She listened to his humming and slowly found her eyes getting heavier. She closed her eyes, listening to him hum a lttle more until she fell into a light sleep.
((Alright, that sounds good. ))

When morning came, Lost silently moved Isis from his lap and tucked her into the blankets. He watched her sleep for a few minutes before quietly leaving the room, closing the door behind him.
The doll went to the kitchen to refill his glass of water, avoiding contact with anyone else in the process. As usual, he passed by the Party Preps in their constant party, and then the Others as they tried to mingle with the residents of the house. His black eyes took in everything familiar hungrily, and he finally reached the kitchen after lingering in the halls.
Filling his cup, the doll sipped at it before moving to sit in his usual chair - the one in the corner of the room that he usually pulled up to the table. Doing so, he leaned his elbows on the smooth surface. Closing his eyes, Lost fell into a strange state of nostalgia. He didn't even realize he fell into one of his hallucinations.
Something tapped against the window, drawing his attention. When he glanced over, a deathly pale doll with hollow eyes held her finger to her lips and pointed to something behind Lost.
He turned to look, and there stood Calla. When Lost got out of his chair to reach out to her, she shrank back and headed for the hallway. Lost followed, and soon they both stood before his bedroom door. Opening it quietly, Calla went over to the bed where Isis still lay, sleeping peacefully. She suddenly raised her fingers to her lips again, and reached toward Lost. The instant her fingers touched his arm, a blinding light, followed by pain, radiated through him.
Lost yanked away from Calla, only to find himself standing in his room. Before him, Isis still lay still. Glancing to his arm, a bit of frost seemed to coat the dark sleeve. Quieting his ragged breathing, the doll frowned. Illusions didn't do that.

Isis didn't even feel Lost lift her in order to get up. She still felt incredibly warm after he tucked her into the blankets. She snuggled deeper into them as he left the room and continued to sleep. While she slept, Isis had a strange dream. She rarely drempt, though when she did her dreams usually came true. Either whatever happened in the dream would occur, or it would be slightly different with the same result. A frown marred her features as she slept, this dream didn't make sense.
Isis was in the house, yet no one saw her. It was like she was a ghost. She could see the Others trying to fit in, as well as the dolls of the house. Lost was there, and the strange part, so was Calla. She looked different, altered even. It was like she wasn't real anymore. Her eyes were so hollow, Isis couldn't believe what she was seeing. None of them could see her. She tried to call out to Lost, but it was no use.
Isis suddenly bolted upright in the bed, gasping for her breath. She had never had a dream like that before, and she only hoped it wouldn't come true for once.

((Hmmm . . . So I'm thinking . . . if Calla is one of the Dead, then what would happen if Lost and Isis went to find her? Mother knows of them, so she'd probably tell Lost what he wants to know. And then . . . eventually . . . should Isis "die" as well? It would somewhat resemble both dreams: Lost being burned by Calla, and Isis unable to call out to Lost. >.>' Sad, but drama is always welcome. And then we'd have another event to deal with - them being together. Any other ideas to add, or alter?))
Lost moved to Isis when she shot up. Humming gently, he took her head in his hands and kissed her forehead. His only desire at that moment was to comfort her. Whispering words of comfort, he sat down and leaned against the headboard beside her. Hugging her to him, Lost ran his hand through her hair repeatedly. It wasn't real. None of it had been.
"What did you see?" he asked, coughing after he spoke.

((I really like it. I think that's a perfect idea. Maybe once we continue on for a little bit I'll think of something else to add to it.))
Isis was glad Lost was there. She hadn't noticed until then that he had not been in bed. She let his humming relax and sooth her before the answered. "I had a dream...I don't very often, but when I do they come true." She said, closing her eyes to replay her dream in her mind. "We were here, in the house. No one could see me, they didn't know I was there. The Others, you and Calla too. She was here, but....she wasn't the same. Her eyes were so hollow and she was so pale." Isis shivered as she remembered the shell of the doll she once called her sister. "I tried calling you, but you couldn't hear me either."

((Alrighty. :P))
"I am here now," Lost whispered into her ear, holding her gently. It was quiet for a while. Small beams of light reflected down around them as the spinning disks overhead caught light from one of the brighter lams. The sound of multiple clocks and watches ticking filled the noiseless room, along with their breathing. When Lost spoke again, he had to clear his throat. "You saw Calla. I saw her too." He paused. "She was here." He frowned. "Though I don't know if it was real." I've been called crazy for seeing things.

This shocked Isis. "You saw her too? But how, and why? Did she say anything to you, anything at all?" Isis asked quickly, wanting to know anything about her sister that she could. In her dream, the only thing Calla did was put her finger to her lips and stay silent. Her hopeful expression disappeared when she heard the last part. Maybe he hadn't seen her.

"She never said anything," Lost said quietly. "Just like the last time." He shuddered gently. "Her touch burns." She's one of the Dead. "I wish to speak to Mother about her." Looking into Isis' eyes, he relaxed. "What happened in your dream? If they come true, I would like to know."

"What do you mean her touch burns?" She looked confused at this. It was obvious that Isis didn't know very much about the Dead. She shook her head. "Nothing really happened. I don't even remember where in the house I saw you, I just remember that she was there, putting her finger to her lips as if she was trying to tell you to be quiet. I only woke up because the look on her face scared me. She looked nothing like the Calla I remember. She looked so....lifeless and hollow."

Lost frowned, and lowered his eyes to the foot of the bed. His black hair fell into his face, but he disregarded it. "We should remember these things," he said in a rough voice, "and try not to think about them too much." It could drive one crazy, dwelling on uncertainties. "Are you hungry?"
The doll stroked her hair again, meeting her gaze with a slight blush. The sudden rush of feeling he had for her made him blink repeatedly, and Lost cleared his throat before looking elsewhere.
"Or thirsty?"

Isis nodded in agreement and blushed a little as well. She hadn't realised before then that the last time she had eaten something was the night of the storm. "Yes, I am a little hungry. And something to drink would be good too."

With a quick nod, Lost carefully stood, drawing Isis up with him. Without a word, he led her to the kitchen, his hand entwined with hers. When they got to the cupboards, he let go of his friend and withdrew a few ingredients.
"Sandwich?" he rasped over his shoulder, reaching for the bread.
Life watched his brother enter the room with Isis in hand, his white eyes widening. "Really?" he muttered to himself, watching the couple sift about the kitchen. Narrowing his eyes, he rested his elbows on the table before him. How unfair was this? Selma disappeared when Mother left - and he couldn't fathom where she had gone. Perhaps she went with Mother? With a sigh, the pale doll rested his head in his hands. Why was it Lost that was comforted when he himself had to be abandoned?

Isis squeezed his hand gently as he led her to the kitchen. She smiled and nodded in response to his question. "Yes please." Isis took the time to look around. There were quite a few people around, though there wasn't nearly too many to consider the the kitchen to be crowded. Isis spotten Life sitting all alone. She found this a little odd since he had been with Selma before everything happened. "Lost, have you seen Selma around? I haven't seen her anywhere since the storm." It was true, though Isis hadn't really took the time to talk to anyone. She felt a little bad for Life, knowing it wouldn't seem fair to him that his brother had someone when he himself didn't.

"Selma?" Lost frowned, setting a couple plates on the counter and getting out a knife. "No." He followed Isis' gaze to Life, who watched them jealously. Turning back to his work, the dark-skinned doll shrugged. "Life has never been good at keeping someone by his side."
((Hehe, another thing to make Life mad at Lost. >.>' Lost considers himself not too good, and he gets good things. Life thinks too highly of himself, and receives nothing. Nothing better than a bit of sibling rivalry. Muahaha. It's only because Selma has left us, sadly. >.<' Which means we might need to find someone for him . . . or at least find a place to stick Life so he's not an unfinished end.))

"Turkey or peanut butter?" Lost asked, ignoring Life's gaze. He looked to Isis with a soft expression, waiting patiently for her reply. He continued to make his own sandwich - peanut butter and jelly was good enough for him. When he finished making his, he set it on his plate and grabbed another couple slices of bread.

With a single nod, Lost produced a second sandwich. Instead of setting it on a different plate, he placed it down on top of his own. Cleaning up first, the dark-haired doll snagged the plate and then Isis' hand. With a glance over to Life, he gently tugged Isis in the direction of the front door.
"Garden?" he rasped, letting go of her hand to open the door. It was sunny outside, the dew just drying up off of everything. When the two of them reached the human-sized garden, Lost relaxed. He couldn't eat in peace if his jealous brother was staring at him the whole time.
Climbing up and sitting on the edge of the fountain, Lost reached down a hand to help pull Isis up. "Better," he said quietly, handing her the sandwich.

Isis smiled and nodded. "Yes." She hadn't stepped foot in the garden in quite some time. It would be nice to be there again. She took his hand as he helped her up to the edge of the fountain. She gladly took the sandwich and took a bite. "Much better." She told him, knowing he felt uncomfortable with Life staring at both of them. She looked out around them as she ate quietly. The garden was so relaxing.

As the soft sound of the water eased any strangeness that Lost felt from his brother, the two dolls ate their lunch quietly. When he finished with his food, the dark-skinned youth sighed, and moved to rest his elbows on his knees. Instead of looking at the garden around him, he watched a small bug as it crawled along the ground below. He always had taken interest in the strangest of things. It was barely noticable when he had a sudden shock of illusion.
Mother stood in a room with other tall humans, saying something quietly. The person she was speaking to nodded, and pointed to the bed on wheels. When the older woman lay down, she became suddenly still and breathless, like a doll herself. Lost tried to get to her, but he couldn't move - such was the way of a dream.
"Isis?" Lost slowly sat up and looked over to the girl. "Do you think Mother is still sick?" He frowned, worry on his features.

Isis finished up her food and silently let the sounds of the garden relax her. It was quite soothing and she smiled slightly. Upon hearing her name, Isis turned to look at Lost. She frowned slightly in thought before answering him. "She could be. I thought she looked okay, but Mother may have hid the truth from us to not make us worry too much about her." Isis said, though she did not want to disrespect the old woman. "We will have to ask her once she returns."

There is so much to ask. What would we do without Mother? Lost nodded, and turned his attention to the fountain's gently flowing water. Dipping a finger into the cool liquid, he trailed it about for a few seconds before speaking again.
"I enjoy being around you," he said quietly, coughing. Using his wet finger, the doll traced a strange design on the fountain's edge before shifting closer to Isis.
And to think - he'd lived in his room for years, not wanting to ever make contact with another doll. But Isis was different - special. Lost truly loved having her around, even if they weren't doing anything fun or exciting.

Isis wondered what had caused him to ask if mother was still ill. She watched him dip his fingers into the fouotain and draw on the stone edge afterward. She blushed at his admittance. "I enjoy being with you too." She said as he shifted closer. Isis had never tried to interact with the other dolls simply because she missed her sister too much. She did not want to get close to another doll, only to have them taken away from her later. Lost was different though, he seemed to make her feel better and comfortable when he was arround. They didn't even have to talk, just his presence near her was enough.

Moving to wrap a hesitant arm about Isis' shoulders, Lost finally looked out to the rest of the garden. The flowers bobbed gently in the breeze, the sun shone warmly all about them, and even the sky seemed to be happy with it's large fluffy clouds and bright blue horizons. Resting his head on top of the girl's, Lost closed his eyes for a moment. Calling on his recent habit, the dark-haired doll began to hum. As the haunting tune filled the garden, he let a slight smile slip onto his face.
This didn't have to change. This could stay this way, and Isis could stay with him. But what if Mother was growing too old, and was dying? Pushing the thought away, Lost ignored his worries. For now, he was content to merely rock Isis, enjoying the warmth of the sun.
((I ponder having something happen due to lack of things to do, but I don't want to make their lives too messed up. :XD After the next few posts, unless something real cool happens, I'm going to start moving the month along, if it's alright with you. :)))

Isis smiled as Lost wraped an arm around her. She felt herself leaning into him, resting her head on his shoulder. She closed her eyes as he started to hum that haunting melody. Though it was strange, Isis found the sound soothing to her. She thought of what would happen if mother died. They wouldn't be able to live any more. She knew mother was getting old, and no ammount of magic could stop aging. Eventually she would leave this earth, but what would happen to them when that time came? Isis couldn't think of a world without Lost. Clearing her mind of these thoughts, she looked out at the swaying flowers and leaves.
((That would be fine. I think it would be a good idea to move it along a little more to get something beter to happen.))
