Yeah... like getting dropped off in an alternate universe with a Doctor clone...... Or getting all your memories of him erased altogether.

Vashta Nerada.

Yesss! "Blink" is simply one of my favorite episodes EVER. I'm getting a t-shirt with "The Angels Have the Phone Box" written on it. hehe. And now my brother and I pretend to freak out every time we see a statue.

Blink scared me more, simply because it had more startling scenes. Silence in the Library only had a few, whereas in Blink, you were constantly on the edge of your seat, knowing a weeping angel could pop out at any moment! Silence in the Library had a lot of calm scenes, and moved more slowly as a whole.

I have to agree that "Blink" has a lot more going for it in terms of suspense and it presents the weeping angels in a way that leads you to believe that any weeping angel statue could be a killer one in real life. What I find most interesting about the weeping angels isn't in that episode, however. Did anyone else catch or remember that in the "End of Time" episodes the chancellor for the Time Lords sentenced a woman to an eternity as a weeping angel? Now we know why they feed off another person's remaining time.

On the flip side while the "Blink" episode is going on they make it seem like the Doctor doesn't actually know about the origins of the weeping angels. Retcon, anyone?

Hey guys, sorry I've been neglecting this thread lately. Been working on my dissertation proposal, being fairly busy and I dunno, just not being in a Doctor Who mood when I'm on Mene I guess? Anyway, I'm going to be disappearing for a couple of weeks more, going to Turkey on Wednesday morning and from there to Greece. I'll be back after easter, ready to join the (no doubt very lively) discussion of the first episode of the new series! :)

On the Weeping Angels, I don't remember that from The End Of Time, Lore.. I will need to watch them again. Interesting that becoming a Weeping Angel is in fact a punishment.
I can't say I'm looking forward to seeing them again. Seriously fucking scary creatures. >.>;

Don't leave us ljos! If I didn't have exams I'd hide in your suitcase.

In the End of Time the Time Lord and Time Lady who voted against Rassilon are shown covering their eyes in the same way as the Weeping Angels do and he mentions Weeping Angels while talking about them.

Ah, I see. I still can't remember it though. :x

And I'm only leaving you temporarily, I wouldn't dream of doing so permanently. So no worries. :) (And no suitcase, just a backpack, and no way you'd fit in that anyway.)

I'm very small, you'd be surprised. ^_~

BBC America Series 5 trailer. Apparently the version on the BBC America website is better quality but I can't watch it. Little slightly-grainy youtube video is enough to make me crazy excited anyway.

No matter how small you are, my ankle is not fit for any extra weight. Maybe if we're thinking Thumbelina-size, anything larger than that is too much. P:

Ooh, cool. I find it funny how much they're using that clip with the gun, and how people are totally over-reacting to it. Which is probably why they keep including it. *sniggers at melo-dramatic reactions*

If I keep reading my comics, hopefully I'll find the answer to becoming really small some day.

The only possible way an inventive, resourceful man like the Doctor could possibly be using a gun is to murder someone. For no reason. Obviously.

I can't remember any ways to become really really small at the moment. Apart from bottles that say "drink me" on their labels. So if you ever find one of those...

Obviously. So I don't get all those silly buggers who keep coming up with these stupid notions like "It might be a flare gun" or whatever. Stop whining! The Doctor is totally going to go all effing barbaric and KILL. EVERYONE. :|

Personally I dont think there's anything wrong with him having a gun. But I can see why it would surprise people, as Ten despised guns. Think of Nine, though, and the other Doctors..... did any of them have weapons? (I havnt watched any of the old Doctors except Tom Baker, so I'm really not sure..)

I've not seen much of the classic series either, but I think in general, The Doctor doesn't carry weapons apart from the sonic screwdriver. And maybe an umbrella? I suppose they didn't want a character in a family show like that to carry weapons around.
And well, it's not like that one clip means he carries a gun, or even uses it. He's just pointing it.

I've never seen him carry weapons, and the sonic screwdriver isn't meant for one. did captain jack harkness carry weapons with him?

I've read Six was a little violent at first but I don't know if he ever used weapons.

Jack's had a number of futuristic weapons as well as his trusty revolver. It's hard to talk about Jack and weapons in the same sentence without it just sounding like a euphemism. XD

Kat, I suspect that may be why he always carries weapons.. xD

Ahhh I'm leaving early tomorrow, so this is probably my last post in the thread for a couple of weeks. Have a good spring break everyone!
