I'm so glad I missed most of the st. Pattys parade today. Business is always such a mess since they go past our store. One of the entry points is on our street as well. But I came in right when the parade was starting so business was dead instead.

We don't have a Saint Patrick's day parade around here. unless they have one in Baton Rouge, I know for sure. they have one in New Orleans each year. people get lots of free food like vegetables. once in while moon pies, yet I forget what else. my sister went to it last year. not sure which weekend its on. I never been to it before

I don't know when St. Patty's is, but I know our parade is kinda random. I don't quite see the interest in such things though.

I love me some original characters. This here is Ri'Staraa. He has no last name, he's a street urchin from Calimport who has to steal to eat, eat to live... you know the drill. (Oh no! Not the drill!)

Ahem... sorry. I was getting my animation references crossed, there. Ri was made to fill a need in a Dungeons and Dragons campaign set in the Labyrinth. Not some random maze, and not the one from mythology. THE Labyrinth - as in the 80's movie. My spouse caught sight of just how big that sprawling landscape was and expanded far more on what little we saw in the film. I had a very good friend at the time and, being the only two gamers in town, we each played 2 characters to make an entire party. But there were some key needs not being met by those characters so I rolled up a third. The only things not completely random were that he was a rogue and spoke goblin (which none of the other characters did, sadly) Everything else about this boy was determined by random rolls and tables and yet, he developed a mind of his own end ended up being one of my favorite characters of all time.

Even if he does find attractive the exact opposite of what I do. Ugh... Go figure huh?

Hey there. Your character sounds like a lot of fun. XD I love thiefy types in D&D. I have a character who's a klepto, but she's not a rogue so she's bad at it. Did shoot a dragon through the eye and kill it though. Her wisdom stat is a 4 so she picked the stupidest piece of loot to be her own afterwards.

I think that flaws make a character worth playing.

Yeah, most of my characters have more flaws than good parts. Some of my characters are just hot messes.

But the characters who're hot messes are hilarious X'D. And all the D&D characters I've rolled up and played at some point promptly decided pretty much right after the game started to go gallavanting off on down their own little tangents and decided to do their own thing XP. And now they've got their own backstories and problems and issues and crap. All I need is a world to throw them in for them to raise hell....

Now I think of it, the same thing happened to my Skyrim misfits. Started out as ways for me to run around Nirn, ended up as a bunch of hot messes and idiocy.

I'm about to play 2 characters I have in my spouse's MARVEL RPG (BESM game setting).

One is an interracial underachiever who can control certain things with his voice but doesn't really understand it yet. He's a martial artist so he'll goofily call out special move names and his voice will add effects to the attack. For instance, if he were to yell, "Dynamite punch!" there would be an explosion where his fist hit and it would add damage. Recently he powered up to reveal some sort of creation-based word manifestation, but it hasn't come up in game yet so we'll see how that goes.

I like that. One could come up with some pretty interesting special moves to call out then.

I don't have a lot of experience doing rpg style or roleplay games though. I'm still pretty amateur with D&D as well. I've only been a part of a single campaign and then a one shot set in the same world.

Man, I've been doing tabletop role playing since I was 7 years old. My Dad used to run the original Dungeons & Dragons in the park behind our lodgings on base in Germany. It's a huge part of my life now. We've branched out into other systems but D&D will always be my favorite. 2nd would be Firefly and the Cortex system.

I learned with first edition but we've just moved our game over to 5e. We started this campaign...more than a year ago at some point.

Nice! A good long-running campaign is hard to find sometimes. My husband tends to want to change gears every few weeks which can be frustrating.

We thought we were going to end it earlier when our dm moved but things didn't turn out so he came back and we can fight the most final boss instead of the sorta final boss. It's hard to get used to 5e though. I still don't think I'm that great at tabletop compared to forum which I've been doing for about 13 years.

Fifth edition is quite different; but it's better than 4th that's for sure. I'm just not a huge fan of all the over the top crap. And in 5th things like "Dragon Born" are core races. Ick. The husband and I prefer to play in low magic settings as well because when you can just buy magical items willy-nilly at every corner shop, it kind of takes the sense of wonder out of the world.

What's so bad about being over the top?

I need to make an eye appointment, but I've been too lazy for it. I hate calling places and setting up appointments even though my glasses are super outdated now. I need a new prescription.
