I'll tell you this much, even a little work experience off-campus now can help you later. That was the biggest mistake I made. All of my jobs were related to my intern/fellowship. Even thought I was paid and had a W-2, it was difficult to convince people that I had employment "experience". Which is partially why I have a MA in history and no job - and am now in a cosmetology program. Hopefully, things will be on the upswing when you're finished :)

If I knew then what I know now, I would have sold my house and rented, then spent what I do have on paying off loans. OR I would have avoided grad school and just worked. On the plus side, I've been able to stay home with the kids and can go to tech school. It's just a LITTLE more laid back than grad school ;)
