I saw the other thread on here and picked up the challenge back in April. Sadly I've only read 6 books since than. Oh well. I'll speed it up as soon as I get my move done.

Oh and if you are looking for Sci-fi, I highly recommend Ender's Game and the other Ender books. They are quite amazing.

I am more into fantasy myself, but I don't turn my nose up at things that are something else.

Ender's Game came highly recommended from a good friend of mine, so I really want to get around to that series at some point.

I just started reading How It Ends, which so far is talking about lifespans and actuaries and such, but is supposed to get around to how the universe will end.

Nice. I like books that transcend genders. I'm not a huge chick-lit fan, but I see myself fall into it sometimes.

:') I should have poked in here earlier, all the books you're talking about are ones that I hold near and dear to my heart.

The Ender's Game series is one of my absolute favorites. And Anne McCaffrey's Pern series pretty much defined my life in 8th grade. :)

Haha I basically ate my way through them in 8th and 9th grade. I stopped reading them about she started co-writing with her son though.

Orson Scott Card's "Treason" is interesting.

As an author, Michael Stackpole is a believable author with a sense of realism in combat.

I will have to check out Ender's Game, then.

Garth Nix's Sabriel was very good. I should get to finishing Leriel - the sequel to it.

I very much enjoyed the Abhorsen books. Have you read any of his other stuff? I've been partway through the Key to the Kingdom series for quite a while now... I should really track down the rest of it.

*picks through thread for more recommendations*

The Abhorsen trilogy is a great YA series. I loved those when I was in middle school. But I've found that much of Nix's other writing falls flat. The Ragwitch was pretty awful, and Shade's Children really didn't impress me. I think that he invested so much time in creating the Old Kingdom that it became difficult for him to branch out into other worlds.

He did d well in detailing the Old Kingdom. It takes a while to do something like that world building, so no wonder other books with less work on that aspect fall short.

I just started my first 50 book challenge the start of this month! I am on my 7th book already. xD

Any recommendations in the fantasy genre? I'm gonna run out of Wheel of Time books eventually and I have nothing planned once I finish them...

I'm about to start the third in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, but that's not really fantasy...

um... all I can think of is the Chronicles of Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynne Jones right now, but they're middle grade...

Young Adult fantasy is some of the best stuff! ^u^

I should finish the last Harry Potter book, too.

yeah, I love young adult fiction, it's what I read the most
Chrestomanci is a bit younger than young adult though...

have you read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, jazz?

I loved the last Harry Potter book. I thought it was really good. ^__^

Hitchkichers books sound amusing. There not the type of book I normally read but I have been known to enjoy other genres. I just might check them out.

I read all of Terry Brooks Landover and Shanara series and am craving something along those lines.
