Kuratu shook his head, smiling a tiny bit. 'There's nothing to forgive. I never got mad at you, Amelia.'

I still feel horrible! I would understand if you never want to talk to me or teach me again! she wrote looking at the floor and hanging her head in shame.

Kuratu walked over to her and lifted her chin gently so she was looking at him. 'You had a right to ask those questions. I was the one who let things get to me. I should know better by now, but...'

He touched me again...that's twice! she thought to herself. she looked at him and looked at his eyes.
By asking those questions, I was getting into your personal life...and that got you angry. she wrote and stepped away and sat on the couch.

Kuratu came and sat down beside her. 'Knife was the one who got into my personal life. That was what got me mad. I wasn't mad at you, I just...have some trouble controlling my temper.'

And that's okay, not a lot of people can control their temper...I just hope you know that I don't agree with anything they said about you and your parents. If you ever feel like talking about a hard topic you can always come over and try to talk about it here...only if you need to talk about it. she wrote hoping to reassure him. Amelia looked at him and smiled a kind and friendly smile.

Kuratu smiled gently in return. Her words almost made him want to talk about what happened - almost. It was a bit much, after all that had happened that day. Nevertheless, he signed a genuine and heart-felt 'Thank you.'

You're welcome...besides, what are friends for right? she wrote. She wanted to hug him but didn't know if she should...she thought about it but decided not to until later, when they were better friends.

Kuratu nodded slowly. It was true. After a moment, he stood. 'I should go...there's school in the morning.'

You go to school? what is it like? she wrote standing up. Inside she really didn't want him to leave.

'Well...' Kuratu said, wondering how he should phrase it. 'It's...a lot of lessons, done at the teacher's pace, not yours, and with homework, tests, assignments, and grades to deal with. Not very fun at all, unless you're in a class you're interested in.'

How odd...wait come with me. she wrote and grabbed some smores and placed them in a ziplock bag.
FOR KUKARU FROM AMELIA she wrote on the bag and handed it to him.
I'll give you some, because I love being you're friend! she wrote and smiled as she handed them to him.
"You're leaving?"asked her mother to Kukaru.

Kuratu signed thanks to Amelia, slighlty regretting that he was already thinking of how to ration them. He looked up at the woman. 'Yes; I have school in the morning.'

"Oh, well thank-you for coming over anyway! get plenty of rest and do good in school!"said her mother smiling. Amelia nodded and waved good bye as she yawned.

'Thank you,' Kuratu said, smiling gently at them both. He signed good night, saying it at the same time, then left, heading back to his bench.

they watched him leave before closing the door. Her parents cleaned the kitchen and Amelia yawned as she cleaned the living room and grabbed her stuff and went upstairs to her room.
Amelia closed the door behind her and put everything away then got into bed and fell to sleep with a smile on her face.

Once he was back under his bench, Kuratu ate one smore - only one. If there was nothing at school the next day, and nothing for dinner, he'd need one. He managed to restrain himself from eating the others, which he stuffed in an inside pocket of his jacket, before curling up and falling asleep as well.

Her parents went to sleep very late and she still slept and dreamt of her friend and how sad he had gotten that day. She had a nightmare knife had stabbed him and she woke up and looked to the window at the moon for a while before getting back in bed and sleeping again.

The day his parents died played over in Kuratu's dreams: the explosion, the fire, the strangers holding him back to stop him from running into the house. He woke up quickly, hitting his head on the top of the bench. He knew the tears in his eyes weren't from the pain, and it took him a while to get back to sleep afterwards.

In the morning, Amelia woke up but stayed in her room thinking about school and what she would do if she ever went there.

Kuratu's dream made him oversleep. He got to school too late for the breakfast, and mentally cursed himself. He took out another precious smore and ate it, figuring it would be a good enough breakfast.

Amelia then herad her parents in the kitchen and heard her father go off to work.
Once he left, she went downstairs and served herself some cereal.
"You okay dear?"asked her mother.
Amelia nodded.
I'm fine...I was just wondering about school...I hope Kuratu is okay. she wrote.
"He is dear...school is not dangerous ever. It's as safe as your home. I feel sorry for him...he lives all alone in an empty house with no one to tell him good morning." she whispered drinking her coffee.
Yes, it is sad... wrote Amelia and began to eat.

No left overs at lunch, either...Kuratu took another smore. Despite the sugar he got from them, he was feeling slightly weak. He somehow made it through the rest of the day and walked along slowly to Amelia's house, knocking on the door.

Amelia smiled and ran to the window and checked who it was.
It was Kuratu and she smiled at him from the window. Her mother chuckled and opened the door for him.
"Please do come in Kuratu." she said and closed the door behind him.
"How are you? was school hard on you?, you look very tired...would you like something to drink or eat?"she offered looking at him worriedly.
Amelia ran to him and hugged him. She couldn't hold back anymore...she always wanted to hug him and she thought right now would be fine.

Kuratu hugged her back gratefully, then looked up at the woman. 'I wasn't able to get lunch today...if it wouldn't bother you, it would be nice to have something,' he said, half hopeful and half guilty for asking.
