I like Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, Lynsay Sand's Argeneau Series, and Sherrilyn Kenyon's DH Series the most. :]

If someone hasn't already mentioned all of them I have suggestions.
I know you said you were on the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles books and were possible or already have started the Twilight Saga. All of those are very good.
As for other vampire series another teen like series would be the House of Night books. They start with Marked then go on to Betrayed, Chosen and Untamed. Hunted comes out the 10th. Those are by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast. I found them to be very good books.. though they have a LOT of teen drama in there.
More Adult vampire books you could look into are the Undead books by MaryJanice Davidson. Otherwise known as the Queen Betsy books. They're hilarious, albeit with a bit of sex.
Then there are the Souther Vampire books by Charlaine Harris that starts with Dead until Dark. Those are more mystery books with things to be solved, again albeit a bit of sex in the books.
So far those are the only vampire books I've read. Up until August of '08 I hadn't read a single vampire books and now I've read all of those. I hope you find something interesting to read out of them all. If not there are still a ton of vampire books out there waiting to be discovered.

@fiarra and Jeice: I did a dance of joy when I found Last Watch on store shelves last week. I looked at my husband and said "I am not leaving Borders without this book. MUST HAVE LITERATURE" - he just shrugged and bought it. XD I finished it within a day of having bought it, and now I want to go back through the series again and see how everything fit together, and watch the plot develop. So good!

Yeah...Twilight is great...If you like reading life through the eyes of angsty teenage girls. I read the series out of curiosity...I mean when a Mormon writes a vampire book...But honestly, the last book is the best. The rest...meh. (I know I am going to be drawn and quartered for saying this...but ya only live once right)?

@Daria: I too starting reading Twilight out of curiosity, and...I'm stopping after the third book so I can re-read the Watch series. I enjoyed the second book of Twilight...mainly because it was the werewolf book...but the third book pretty much killed everything for me. *doesn't even want to finish the last two chapters*

HELLZ YES! *does happy dance*
Anita Blake, in all aspects is my CRACK.
I almost failed classes because I started to read through them ^_^; tee-hee.
All the characters have some sort of depth or interesting quirk, and I have to say that Anita is totally AWESOME. She is full of Kick-assery and WIN.
The crime scenes, the pr0n, the characters, the mystery, I LOVE IT.
Plus I like her take on vampires, werewolves, the metaphysics~
*rambles*
Anita Blake is the second vampire series I started to read, first one being Anne Rice.
And I hardly have anyone around to fangirl over it with me. TT_TT

Yeah-rah Vamp books!
I love vampire books, they are sort of my guilty pleasure.
Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series ("Guilty Pleasures" is the first book.) You should definitely check these out, if you're not squeamish. They are full of violence and, later in the series, sex. But they are funny and the characters are well created.
Kim Harrison's Hollows series ("Dead Witch Walking" is first) is really great. While the focus is actually a witch, she interacts with vamps (including her blood-sucking roomie) and werewolves etc. These books are funny and are a little less R-rated.
Poppy Z. Brite (first novel "Lost Souls") is very similar to Anne Rice in her style and her writing. While I am not a huge fan of either of these authors, the books are pretty good and friends who like Rice say Brite is great!
Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire series is a riot (first book:"Dead Until Dark")! These books blend horror and humor beautifully. I find myself caring about the characters and begging Ms. Harris to finish her next novel.
Jim Butcher's Dresden series ("Storm Front" is the first book) interacts with vampires in a big way! The focus is the wizard harry Dresden but vampires are central to most plots so there is plenty of vamp fun!

I'm obsessed with a certain series. It only seldom mentions vampires, though, in the third book. It kind of makes them look childish, but I still love it.
The series is called May Bird by Jodi Lynn Anderson.
I think a vampire fan might enjoy it, as well. It's very easily read. A bit childish, as I said before, but it's my favorite of all the books I've read.
My summary: A young girl named May Ellen Bird, an outcast at her school, wanders into the woods to find a black lake, with something mysterious inside. She is pulled in the lake by something, along with her hairless cat, Somber Kitty. When she wakes, she is in a ghostly and terrifying place called the Ever After, land of the dead. She soon meets her own house ghost, Pumpkin, a ghastly looking creature, who has haunted her home for several centuries. They become quite good friends, and have several adventures together to save the Ever After and whatnot.
I adore this series. And, I highly recommend it for fantasy fans. :]

i've really only read the Twilight series and the Vampire Chronicles. i didn't like Twilight or its sequels, i found it very vapid, but i loved the Vampire Chronicles. anne rice is my idol. sort of. i mean, i could have done without so much description, especially in The Vampire Armand, but other than that the books were very good. a solid, well written series IMO. a little hard to follow sometimes, but hey. my favorite one is Interview with the Vampire. louis is my love =3

I'm not sure if its been mentioned yet, but Charlaine Harris wrote a really good vampire series called Sookie Stackhouse. It's actually been made into a television series called True Blood. I prefer the books over the show, however it is the best film re-make of any book I've seen yet (this includes movies as well).

Cirque du Freak series by Darren Shan. Awesome, gripping series that mixes sci-fi with traditional vampirism. Lots of action, hint of romance, and it's the only vampire book I've found, to date, with time paradoxes.

Kim Harrison's "hallows" series is about more than just vampires, but the main vamp is totally cool. I just adore her. The main character is a witch so I don't know if you will still want to read it. Highly recommended by me. I am trying to get my husband to read them.

Aahh~, I LOVE the Anne Rice series. xD
I've read a few books from the Vampire Chronicles a few times over, they're addictive. .. Okay, Interview was a little boring for me, but hey.. There's always the movie! xD
I, personally, am not a fan of the Twilight series AT ALL. But, whatever floats your boat, I suppose, right? c:
I've heard good things about the Anita Blake series, so I definitely reccommend that as well.
And, if you want to go straight for the roots, I definitely suggest the original Bram Stoker's Dracula. FAN♥TAS♥TIC.

First of I have heard that Ann Rice will be doing one more book in the Vampire Chronicle series.. to end the series off.. she had said she was not going to write anymore, but decided to finnish it off. So her fans would not have a melt down.
Secondly I recoment the His Mortal Instruments series.. by, Cassandra Clare. There are three books in the series.
* City of Bones
* City of Ashes
* City of Glass
One of the main characters is a vamp.. and I loved all of the books. There is a wide aray of characters in it. There is a link in my siggy called his mortal instruments. If you click it it will take you to a page I made with in depth info on the series and its plot and characters.
I also suggest the Blue Blood series. I just started it myself and finished the first book in a few hours. It is an interesting take on vampires and their origens I think. The books are by Melissa De la Curuz. The ones that are out are
* Blue Bloods
* Masquerade
* Revelations
* The Van Alen Legacy ( this one is coming out in October 2009)
I like the way she twists the characters into one another. It made for an interesting read.
If you want something that is light reading just for fun you could try the House of Night Series, by P.C. and Kristen Cast. It is a very tweenish series that is all about high school drama, only the kids are all vamps. I used it as a book filler when I am waiting on the series I am addicted to to release a new book.
I hope that this helps you out some. :)

Cirque Du Freak/The Saga of Darren Shan is a favorite of mine.

i also have to promote the Anita Blake series by Laruelle K. Hamilton very good
as well as the House of Night Series by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast
um the first book is called Marked it features a pretty unique form of vampire in my opinion
um its not caused by biting but by a genetic defect and it can happen to anyone randomly O.o im not very good at describing books but this series was good enough that i stayed up until the wee hours of the morning reading them ^^ if you want to know more about the series the website is here -> House of Night Series <- really good site too

Christine Feehan's "Dark" Series. The Carpathians are in search of their lifemates in order to avoid loosing their soul to the evil vampire within. (each book are different characters, but they're nicely intertwined.)
Sherrilyn Kenyon's "Dark Hunters" are 'vampires' in the looses sense of the term. They fight Damons in order to save the world. Wrapped around Greek Mythology.
Kerrelyn Sparks is based around vampires finding a place in modern society, and surviving, even with the threat of gov't agents and the 'bad' vampires called "malcontents"

I recommend you stray away from Twilight if you know what's good for you..
But if you reeally wanna read it, go ahead. But be prepared for a world of LULZ Dx
The Vampire Diaries are a little bit better, I guess. But personally, vampire books can be overrated. >.<
