Yeah, it's one of those things. I think it depends on what you can get out of it really, if it's worth it and you are willing to spurge.

Yeah, it is worth it to me though. ^_^; To bad basic cable is getting more and more basic. :cry: Now if you don't have those new flat screen TVs, you'll need a converter box for the cable now or something. :S

Yeah... what I would give for BBC America... even if they give you the dregs of their programming on a constant cycle (oh, I wasn't talking about you TopGear, don't worry :hug:)
Things just keep getting more complicated with modern technology, don't they?

Yes they do, Biggles. I mean the region encoding on DVDs are just ugh. That is why I got a multi-region DVD player. ;) It was $70 + free shipping, but it was well worth it. ^_^;

WOOT! I have one of those too. Best investment ever, I should say. Now I don't have to wait until British things get released on region 1. Plus I can indulge in a smattering of other things from Asia.

Yeah. I have a question Biggles, when you watch British DVDs that are encoded Region two on a multi-region DVD player on an American Television, does the Picture look blocky? My DVD player has a picture converter thing, but I want to know the answer to this question. ^_^;

Uh, I don't think so. The TV we have in the basement is oldish, and I don't know what the DVD player has in way of features (Besides karaoke. It has that. But I have yet to figure out how to use it.) But my British DVDs are gorgeous on it.

Thanks! :D I have a Karaoke on my DVD player as well. ^_^; I think we might have the same one. If your DVD player has a strange plug, then yeah... we have the same one. ;)

Lol, I never really noticed the plug... other than the fact that it fits into my outlet, which of course is a good thing. Is yours the TopSmart brand? That's what mine is.

Nope it isn't Biggles. Mine is a Pioneer brand. It is only suppose to be sold in Asia and the Middle East. It can't be used in Japan. :S

Yeah, Japan happens to be a region that is usually found in the west... I think it's region 2?

Yeah, but my DVD player is a Region 2 though. ;) I think it is one of those special Region 2 DVD players (It plays region 1, 2, and 4 so far. I just have to test three and six on it later. :P).
What I mean is, because of the plug used on my DVD player, it can't be used in Japan. :( It had a warning on the box about being used in Japan. So I guess it is safe to use it in the US. :D Or else I couldn't had bought it. XD! It also came with a converter plug to be able to be used in the US. ^_^;

Oh I see. Those plugs are confounding. Hooray for converter plugs. I have a few of them.

Oh! That would explain why you were unsure about how the picture would work on a US television set. You know, if you are a Briton, I suggest we just swap places. I'm itching to get out of this joint.

I live in Florida. ;) I was ordering my DVD player from eBay from this shop in Chicago Illinois.
@ Cardinal Biggles- I only asked about the picture thing, because some DVD players don't have a up/down grader converter. Even if they do, it depends on the megabytes. :S My DVD player can up/down grade from PAL to NTSC. So it works for the US, even though it wasn't made for US market. :shock: I also heard from another board that PAL DVDs don't show up right on American televisions. That is the main reason why I asked. ;)
