Those of you who have a BA in English or are pursuing one, what do you do with it? I know a person can teach, but I don't really want to go that route.

So let's talk about what we plan on doing with a BA in English!

Kiss your prospects goodbye.

English is actually quite an accomplishment, but you have to be able to apply it, and it's usually seen as a supplement to something. You could use the skills for writing contracts and bids--corporate, municipal, or private. The degrees usually require a couple forms of technical writing, which is all geared towards the workplace; designing memos, templates for forms, etc. which can be really helpful and fun. I'm telling you, the flow of a form someone has to fill out can really make or break someone who follows it.

There are the general obvious tasks and jobs like editing, proofreading, even writing research memos of compiled data.

I know that some English majors go on to pursue their Ph.D.'s and do a ton of research and writing. But, many of them go on to become professors.

Thanks for the replies! I just figure I could probably do anything with it.
