Laurell K. Hamilton is one of the best authors I've read. I'm a big Anita Blake series fan. :P Vampires and Were-animals = yummah. :D
One of the best Historical Fiction books that I've read is Miss Spitfire : reaching Helen Keller by Sarah Miller. It's about how Annie Sullivan taught Helen Keller with pieces of her own life included in the book. It's really good, I couldn't put it down and it totally surprised my mom because I don't normally read Historical stuff (even though I'm a history buff XD)

Ooh, I think I might partake of this... Sounds like a good challenge for the brain.
Starting next January >_< Since that would be a good 12-month starter point... Until then I'll lurk and talk about books I've read recently or am in the process of reading... *nod*
haha... I could re-read my Anita Blake books and be halfway through my goal >3> 100 would probably be my goal for the year, if I'm gonna do it.

@Drakochan:
That's quite a long time to wait. Until then, why don't you just cut the challenge in half? Do 25 books in 6 months. Then you can start up a new challenge when the new year rolls around.

Alright, then. This would surely give me motivation to plow through my books... I have a long list already, and I usually can't finish unless I keep pace.
I only have the book titles for now; I'll add the page numbers and authors later.
Bold = finished.
1. Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan
2. Dracula
3. 1984 by George Orwell (297)
4. Freakonomics
5. The Man Who Mistakened His Wife For a Hat
6. Barron's AP World History
7. Chinese history book--insert title here.
8. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
9. The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway
10. Wicked by Gregory Maguire (519)
11. The Little Book of Pandemics by Dr. Peter Moore (137)
12. My Name is Red by Orhan Pamuk (413)
13. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (375)
14. From Emperor to Citizen: The Autobiography of Aisin-Gioro Pu Yi (484)
15. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho (174)
16. Empress by Shan Sa (319)
17. The Dragon and the Foreign Devils by Harry G. Gelber (442)
18. Selected Works from Edgar Allan Poe (753)
More to come.

^ I'm glad to see someone else who's read The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. Case studies have always interested me, and I've found that Oliver Sacks is one of the best physicians to document his studies. Not only does he experience the most interesting finds, but he knows how to present them as both a doctor and an author.
He came out with Musicophilia this past year, but I've never been able to find it in any of the stores near me. I think that just makes me even more anxious to read it.

"...No wonder you're weird."

Aww. xD
I don't particularly enjoy sci-fi stuff, but there is a few books and movies that I like that are sci-fi. :3

@Bergamot: :] I liked the Twilight series, but a lot of what you said is true, Bella got annoying and Edward wasn't much better.

I'm pretty sure I liked really Crank. O.o
Its been like three years since I've read it, so I don't remember. Also, I used to read a lot more books than I read now, and sometimes, if I really get into them, I read them way too fast, and I sometimes forget the book pretty quickly after I read it. D:
Ha, dude if I had been reading Merry Gentry while I was still in school, and they happened to open it... I probably would've got unlucky and they wouldn't have seen really good writing and a great story; they probably would've seen her describing her men's private parts or the all the sex they have. x_x; Which is still really good writing and a great story, but then I probably got in trouble for possessing pornographic content, #1 New York Time's Bestseller or not. Dx

I KNOW! I love her. She is definitely one of the best authors I've ever read.
I am too! ^^ I love Anita, because she's really short like I am, and people totally underestimate her because of it, like they do me, so I can really relate to her in that way.
Tall guy: "Look at the cute little girl!"
Me: *kicks in shin and punches in stomach* "...Who's cute now? :sarcasm:"
I started reading Anita Blake, and then accidentally picked up a Merry Gentry novel, and now I'm addicted to both of them. xD
Oh, and Laurell added ME on MySpace, without me sending her a request or anything and I was like ....AH OMG! :o

Lol, the only thing I have in common with her is the fact that she has a fetish for long hair guys. Guys with long hair is like..
My friend actually gave the book to me when I asked her one day at school what she was reading.
Me: Whatcha reading?
Her: *holds up hand*
Me: *looks over shoulder and reads a part* Holy crap is that porn!?
Her: SHHHH! NOT SO LOUD!
She winded up coming to school the next day with the first three books in hand and let me borrow them. Winded up finishing them within the week. I never really got tin the Merry Gentry books. I have the first one and one other one that my mom bought thinking it was a Anita Blake book. I started the first but it never really stuck, but I was also doing a lot of stuff at that point of time. XD but I plan to read it sometime...maybe after I finish The Host and before Breaking Dawn. eh.

 My God, that happened with one of my friends, at the library. She was like "Whatcha readin?" and I showed her, and her face turned like five different shades of red and then she's never asked about a book of mine again unless she knows what it is. Goody-two-shoes. xD
I just really loved both of the series, but one of the reasons is because I love Hamilton's writing style. She's got such a great imagination, and her characters are just so freaking AMAZING! <33

I forgot I was still in this...(.:sorry:.) right now I am reading Leo Tolstoy's, Anna Karenina, it so far has proved itself to be a very good read. ( A long read though) I'm only about 300 pages in but I about 500 more to go, it's so good, I feel so much for the characters and what they're going through.

Lately I've been reading early in the morning before my job starts. I have to get there around 8, but nothing actually happens until 8:30-8:45, so that gives me some time to whip out a book and read a few pages while sipping my coffee. It's a good system.
I'm reading A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn, but since that's a little too big to fit into my pocket I'm also reading The Accident by Elie Weisel. It's a strange combination, but I like them both so far.

The Virgin Suicides?
No, not really. D:
The book was a little drawn-out and anti-climactic. And at times, it was hard to understand. There were moments where I had no clue what was going on and I'd reread a paragraph four times to try to see what I missed.
It was disappointing. The story had a lot of potential, but... D:

Eek...it sounds disappointing. xD
The reason I asked is because I'm kinda lost as to what I'm going to read after I finish the Merry Gentry series. >.>
I only have one more book left after I finish the one I bought today, unless she puts a new book out very very quickly. xD
I could pick up where I left off with the Anita Blake series, but I'd actually like to read something that isn't by Laurell K. Hamilton for a change.

I like fantasy novels, but they do take a while to read.
I would only get through maybe twelve of them in a year.
Manga do go much faster.
They are fun, and I have a subscription to Shojo Beat magazine.
