so i'm starting to get into mystery books. what are some really good ones out there? I just finished reading the the pawn by steven james

The list is pretty endless, but a couple I've read recently and liked:

Sister Fidelma Mysteries by Peter Tremayne. They're set in 7th century Ireland and, as a history nut, I love them because you get to learn so much about the time and place as you go. Even if you're not into history I'd still recommend them as they're fairly light, fast reads. I think there are about 25 in the series now.

Last week I stayed up all night reading Fear Nothing by Lisa Gardner. It was pretty dark, but a real page turner.
