GODDESS MODE

Hello, greetings, and welcome to all of you! I am so glad that you decided to drop in. Here in this thread, I, Goblin Maiden (or Mai), will be hosting... well, I think you know the name of the contest already. ;D

What? Why, yes, it is a contest! I will be giving away three gold-currency prizes to the top three poets! So if you're interested in roping yourself a little extra gold to get yourself one more half-price item in the Event Shop, this is the place for you!

RULES:

1. Be nice, polite, genteel, etc. etc. I reserve the right to boot you off the stage if you do not follow this rule (or any others, for that matter).

2. No swearing, lewd content, etc. in your poetry, please. Remember, we are here to honor and respect the goddesses!

3. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CONSIDER YOURSELF A WRITER TO ENTER. Just do your best and let your words speak for you! =D

4. All poetry must be honoring a goddess\the goddesses in some way. If I can't detect any goddess-honoring in your poetry, it won't be eligible to win a prize.

5. You do not have to honor your own goddess. Your poem can be honoring any of them.

6. No plagiarism! Seriously, stealing is bad. Don't do it.

7. They may be goddesses of Feast, Song, and Dance, but I am the goddess of this thread. Therefore, do as I say, or get out... Don't worry, though, I don't bite (unless you're asking for it)!

8. No real rules about length--just make it long enough to be recognizable as a poem, but don't write a novel.

9. Any style of poetry is fine. Haiku, open-verse, sonnet, whatever!

10. I reserve the right to change these rules later as I see fit.

1. Title your poem "GODDESS MODE: ENGAGE!" in BIG font, so that I don't miss it. ;D
2. Post your poem.

PRIZES:

1st place poem: 200 gold
2nd place poem: 130 gold
3rd place poem: 70 gold

Remember, you don't have to be the best of writers to win! I will expect proper spelling and such, but since this is poetry, it's okay if your grammar's a little off. ;D I'll also be selecting winners based on if they made me laugh out loud, sob sentimentally into a handkerchief, etc. Make me feel the devotion to the goddesses that you are slamming your poetry about!

All entries must be in by 8 p.m. Central Time on Thursday, August 13!

Don't try to be sneaky and get it in a minute after the deadline or anything, because I won't consider it for judging. ;D That gives you the rest of the week to work on a poem and post it up in this thread for your fellow Menewshans to see and for me to judge.

Sorry! I don't understand what "GODDESS MODE: ENGAGE!" means, do i have to write exaclty that on my post or do i do something else? Sorry, I don't understand stuff like that

Yes, Little Miss, it means to type "GODDESS MODE: ENGAGE!" exactly like that for the title of the poem you are going to be entering. =) Thanks for asking!

As the bright rays of summer dawn,
She beings to sing her song,
of the lovely moon and radiant sun,
till summer's spell becomes undone.
And as stars fall around the night,
she still sings softly of summer's light.

Just try entering something! You never know whether or not you might win--especially since it's me judging. ;D I am a non-goblin of many whims!!!

Thank you! =3 i used to write poetry pretty frequently, but not so much anymore...i should really start again :|

That's good. You know every 30 minutes the goddesses will give you one each if you petition them.

yea, i've been doing that, aswell as preforming to others every now and then. but yea. lol, i'm only able to get on in the mornings sometimes and at night, so...yea. lol. but anyways, how are you enjoying the even ohso?

Oh cool. I don't perform or practice. I just post and petition. I think it's faster that way. But I'm okay. I went to the dentist today, so my gums hurt a bit. I got flossed some kinda hard.

Here's my entry, for the Goddess of Song:
Do says the Monday Maiden,
Dancing in the dew;
Re joins the Tuesday Truant,
Singing loud and true;
Mi cries the Wednesday Wench,
Washing skirts and hems;
Fa laughs the Thursday Teacher,
Teaching mindful men;
So boasts the Friday Friend,
Flaunting all her jewels;
La sings the Saturday,
Waking all the fools;
Ti cries the Sunday Chorus,
Praising all their Psalms;
For Do sings the Goddess great,
Uniting all their songs.

[each verse should rise a pitch, just like singing a scale XD]
