Heat & Rust

o ~~ o ~~ o ~~ o ~~ o

In a world of dragons ruled by heat, the humans who call themselves riders are the top of the world. However, it is this very thought that might drive them down to disaster. In the lower classes, a rebellion is stirring, like rust on the splendor of their city. Will the cycles of heat keep them intact, or pull their society apart at the seams.

~Kat Dakuu's characters~

The Rider:

Name: Erwan
Age: 22
Appearance:

His most notable feature is the patch always over his blind left eye. He could easily fall into the background, but carries himself with such strength and self importance that his slighter frame appears larger. He’s relatively tall, but most muscular in his legs due to being a rider. His honey colored hair falls into his eyes and fully frames his face. His eyes are a very dark brown and his skin pale. No matter how much sun it gets, he doesn’t darken much. Clothing tends toward brown, leather, and red tones.
Personality: He’s a man with two sides. Known by most to be uptight, closed-off, and self-involved, most people don’t want much to do with him. However, among riders, he’s praised for his composed and charismatic nature. To those under his wing, he’s a kind teacher and fearless leader. He fights with passion and flies with a wild, abandoned sort of freedom. His discipline is flawless though and what seems passionate doesn’t always reach his heart. No matter how much he smiles, the closer you get, the more you realize he’s still closed-off to his friends. Should you break his code of loyalty and order, the cool face he wears might break. As a youth he was reckless, bitter, and almost ruthless in the pursuit of his ambitions. Now that he has them, he will let go no matter what. He believes he deserves to fly just the same as he believes his left eye is his curse that will one day kill him. Still, his current state is that of a man beginning to live in strength and happiness.
Bio: The loss of his left eye happened just on the edge of recallable memory. He was still very young and remembers the event only in small scraps of images and traumatizing emotions. Not much is known about the actual events, other than it was deemed an accident and happened near the cliffs. His entire life has been lived toward the goal of bonding with a dragon and becoming a rider. No matter how many times he tries to impress though, he was turned away until just before his sixteenth birthday. Since then, he’s become a well known rider and less the ridicule of town that he viewed his eye made him.
Extra: He is proficient in smaller weapons, using his speed to make up for his build, but don’t think his punch isn’t strong because he knows how to scrap and never pulls his punches.

The Dragon:

Name: Rornigoth
Information: He's large even for a dragon, built to command power. Of the common fire-breathing type, he is a dragon people call ancient, even to the point of being past his prime. He had been unbound to a human for countless years before bonding with Erwan. Though his age brings great wisdom, he is not a strong young warrior. Still, age brings its own strength and ferocity. Time and time again, Rornigoth proves he can still fight.
Personality: Though he can be the voice of wisdom and reason, more often than not, he is cynical and biting. He talks to others as if children, commands immediate respect, and tends to snark and chide with Erwan, though that is a sign they are close. To other humans he is haughty and dangerous. With Erwan, he has wit.

Hayden Ray Emweise
19/Male/Rider

An oddity among the colony, Hayden had been impressed at birth. Liyiath had hatched just hours before, and refused to leave Hayden's mother's side until the boy was born.

For most, it was odd seeing this tiny dragon and even tinier human crawling about together. But for Hayden, it was normal. To him, the strange thing was that none of the other children his age had dragons. He couldn't imagine life without being bound to his dragon, and how others stood without theirs for so long baffled him.

Hayden sticks more to neutral tones, though he does have a thing for blues and purples, when it comes to clothing, and prefers light, minimalistic armor. He's skilled with many ranged weapons, his favourite being the bow gifted to him by his grandfather before the man's passing five years prior. He can use a sword, but prefers to not get that close to his opponent.

Physically small, Hayden's quick witted and agile, which makes up for what he lacks in power. Standing 5'7- and two thirds, thank you very much- he's often picked on, though it doesn't bother him much. He can defend himself well enough when the bullies turn physical, and, often enough, Liyiath is enough to scare them off.

Liyiath
(lee-EYE-ath)
19/Male/Dragon

All claw and fang and little energy bursts from his gaping maw, that was only one difference between Liyiath and the rest of his sub-species. Also much smaller than other blues his size, he's a little over half the height of a regular Blue. Closer to the size of a large Green. Not that it matters- he's still just as fast as other Blues, and twice as smart, though that could easily be contributed to his genius bond.

The Rider

Name: Chance Saito
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Side: Rebel
Appearance: As far as he knows he towers over everyone he has met, standing at six foot five inches tall. He is muscular, lean in the fat department, athletic from all the training and help gathering supplies for his fellow rebels. Though what he lacks in speed he makes up for in strength. He tends to wear thick, heavy leather armor with bits of metal as well. His normal clothes are nothing fancy or brightly colored like you would see a noble wear. You can catch him wearing white, gray and black clothes, occasionally wearing something with a bit of color to it.
Short bio: Chance was just that, he was a chance that his parents took. By that, i mean that any person hiding a dragon or dragon riders who were not in the dragon rider guard and refused to join it was killed. Thus being that the doctors had a son did not change the fact that they tried to help and save every human they possibly could while raising him. So he was raised in this chaotic world, learning how to heal people the best way that he could at his very young age. When he was 9 that all changed, dragons came to the village that his parents had been in, burning it to the ground, every human with it. This left the young boy an orphan, alone, being raised by a group of his parent's friends. Who turned out to be a resistance against the king, and very rightly so. When he was 15 he came across a young dragon, whom was white, furry and had feathers. She was smaller than a normal dragon, clearly, she was left for dead as one of her wings was broken. Instead of killing her, he patched her up, taking care of her, hiding her from everyone else. It did not take long for them to bond and become dragon and rider.
Weapons and skills: Is very gifted in the healing arts. I don't mean magic I just mean medical. Though he does not like to kill anything or injury anyone he does carry a bow& arrows, a couple of knives as well. Even has an ax.

The Dragon

Name: Laila
Gender: Female
Species: Rare White Dragon
Short bio: Laila had been the small egg in her clutch, having not hatched right away unlike her siblings. When she did finally hatched she clearly had some problems as she had no color and had fur and feathers instead. She was soon pushed out of the nest, after all only the strong survive, which she was not. Left to fend for herself, she traveled on, always looking for a safe place to live only to be found by a human. Taken in by him which was uncommon for wild dragons. She soon had a stable companion and home, growing until she was basically twice the size of a horse but still small enough to only have one person ride her at a time. She bonded with Chance, only allowing him to ride her once she was big enough, though she always craves interaction with her own kind.
Weapons and skills: Laila use her teeth and talons as weapons. Though unlike most dragons she does not breathe fire or ice rather she breathes a green mist that just makes plants grow and can also help heal. She can understand languages spoken to her, though she can not speak at all. She can also read, but writing is foreign to her, rather she draws to help communicate to people when her rider will not share what she has to say through their mental link. Being small, means that she is agile and quick though not as fast with her rider on her back.

‘Where are you even flying to?!’ Erwan griped, wind whipping his honey colored hair in flurries behind him. Massive sanguine wings rose to block off his view for a second, then snapped down again so that his already pale knuckles turned white with the force it took to keep his grip on the harness. Without a doubt, a jest by his mount. A lesser rider might have gone spiraling toward the earth by now in alarm.

‘Are you telling me how to fly, human?' Rornigoth’s snide comment echoed through the telepathic link they shared, the voice deep and arrogant like everything Erwan expected from one of the oldest dragon’s known to be bonded with a human—this human. The young rider’s lips pulled into a smile even as he tried to urge Rornigoth in the direction they were supposed to fly. They had a mission here and one Erwan was more than happy to finally take part in. He may not have thought much of bonding with an ancient rust dragon at first, but over the years, they reached their own companionship and steadily rose in the ranks among the king’s dragon riders. However, today proved more irate than most.

‘I’m not, just-' The dragon veered hard to the left. ‘You’re acting completely irrational, you senile loon!’

Rornigoth let out a roar that shook Erwan like the strings on a bass, deep enough to feel all the way through him. When Rornigoth’s flight leveled off again, he saw a sapphire serpent dart across the sky far to the left where it disappeared, but not soon enough. Erwan felt his heart drop right down into his stomach. It couldn’t be.

Erwan didn’t need to check their flight path to know Rornigoth flew toward the female dragon. The distant tension he felt before without realizing it now took center stage. ‘Now?!’ But Rornigoth wasn’t listening anymore. Waves of passion and heat rolled off the rust dragon through their mental connection until it began to pool in Erwan as well. He should be riding toward a remote village in the kingdom right now. Where was that blasted other rider that the captain assigned to join him? No wait, they should stay away because…but then he’d be alone in this and he didn’t want that, but he did. Damn it, a rebellion was starting, rumors full of a bonded rider leading them, and here he was with with a dragon going into heat.

Sweat sliding down his brow and a growing knot of heat in his stomach, they turned away from the village in chase, leaving a swath of dragon-heat pheromones across the countryside below. And Erwan, he was just swept along with it.

Hayden loved being in the air. He let out a whoop as his dragon flew in intricate patterns, enjoying their flight. He knew they had work to do, but they were both young... Liyiath had far too much energy built up for a dragon his size. "Come on, Lee... We need to find Erwan and Rornigoth, and get on with this job... Then we can fool around..." He trailed off, spotting another blue in the distance, seeing a large rust-colored dragon pursuing her. "Shit, Lee... Is that..?"

"A female being chased by males? Yes, it is..." liyiath reponded, excited by the prospect of his first mating flight, while his rider was clearly nervous.

"Maybe we should go... Like, now, far away..." Hayden replied, though it seemed Liyiath had other plans, charging off in the direction of the female blue.

"Relax. You worry far too much, little one...

They bickered briefly about who was calling whom little, as they were both the same age, and tiny for males of their age and species. Hayden never noticed how close they were to the other dragons until he felt the wind from one's wings hit his face. He squirmed in the saddle, uncomfortable with this idea. He hated mating flights, usually avoided being anywhere near one. The idea of just fucking whoever was closest at the end of it all sickened him slightly, though his revulsion did nothing to ease the arousal he was feeling through his bond with Liyiath.

The ancient forest stood tall and regal in the morning mist. The mist that swirled and sprawled across the floor, snaking its' way into every nook and cranny that it could find. Weaving around thick, old trees and over twisted and gnarled roots. It clung low to the ground, swirling out the was with each step that was made in it only to quickly fill the void once the creature moved forward. It made no sound though you could hear whispers of twigs and mushy dead leaves underfoot, that were hidden beneath the mist.

As the sun grew higher in the rose-colored sky, birdsong slowly started to fill the air as the animals began to stir. The dense canopy barely let the soft morning light come throw, occasionally you can catch slivers of the sky. Which was slowly turning blue as the day ages, the sickly sweet smell of decomposing foliage hung in the air. With the shift of huge wings which stirred up the smell of the damp earth below. Bare feet could feel the damp earth, as it came up between toes. A rough hand brushed against the even rougher bark, a smile crossed the slender male's face. He enjoyed the fresh, crisp air, the feel of grass, and flowers beneath his feet. Unconsciously picking out the safe spots to walk at, enjoying the calming peace of the morning.

The dense forest soon opened up to a large glade that held a river going through the middle. The flowing river was so clear that you could see clear to the bottom, Able to make out every fish that swam through it. It appeared that it was shallower than it truly was. A pure white dragon came out into, she seemed happy as she bounded over to the river. "Yea, the cold water should help us to calm down." the gray-haired male contemplated to the creature as he followed after her, chuckling to himself.

He watched as she played joyously in the cool water, splashing it onto him. The male gave her a flat look as he pushed his now soaked gray hair back out of his equally gray eyes. "Come join me. The water is nice." The white dragon's melodic voice easily slipped through his mind as she continued to splash water towards him. Her muzzle open as if to make a sound but nothing came out, not even fire which was normal for most dragons. It was sad really, for a dragon being unable to roar or any such noise is like a bird unable to sing.

He easily strode over to her, stripping to his undergarments as he pulled a brush out so that he could start scrubbing her clean. "Remember, we are here to get you clean up and to calm down the urge to mate." he mused to her as he climbed onto her back to help clean her wings, not concerned or worried about any other dragons since this was mostly a remote place and tended to have nothing but female dragons around. Laila made a low thrumming noise, so low and soft that it was barely audible unless you placed your ear right onto her throat.

This was the third mating season that they have gone through, never having met a male dragon, they were not prepared for what a true mating entailed. It was not long before a roar shook the trees, scaring the birds away. Chance, the male human, frowned as he was helping Laila soak her fur. You can imagine the surprise on his face as a sapphire blue female dragon quickly flew past them, moving deeper into the woods. "Males!" the loud-soft voice yelled in his head, causing him to flinch.

The female dragon perked up, the burning desire flared up as if it was nothing but dying embers that found a fresh log to feed on. Excitement and anticipation grew inside of Laila, to the point it boiled over like a pot of water, into her rider. All because she smelled the musk, and the smoke of burnt wood. "Laila!" he cried, having to hold tight to her fur as she took off to see the first males she would have interacted with since she was just a child. Her rider cursed, as he clung to her back, her feathered wings driving her faster to the source of her desire that burned them both up from the deep inside. She soon hovered there in the air as she stared in amazement at the size of the rust colored dragon that came barreling towards them. Unable to see the blue male following behind him, she quickly dived out of the way before she tried to escape, realizing that he could harm her if he got a hold of her.

Humans and dragons went spiraling in circles, ever tighter, desperate, and yet more structured at the same time. Erwan cursed in his head both to himself and through their link to his irrational dragon. Humans could control these things! Why did an ancient dragon have to lose his head and view it as a conquest? Erwan dragged in a deep breath, trying to fight down everything that took his head as well. If he just closed his eyes, he could become just heat as well, but he always fought this no matter how many times he felt the effects of a dragon's heat, whether there was a human partner near or not. He could make do. Except, as they dived down toward a forest, he saw others tagging along after the same female. It would be a mess this time.

The sapphire dragon twisted to face her pursuers as if sizing them up, two males and finally a rival female that came up from the forest in an erratic flight toward then away from them. And this dragon had no intention of picking her partner with ease either. First she sailed over the red in an inverted loop, then she turned to dance with the male blue. Males might be famous for fighting over females, but females could be just as ruthless in their heat. It was an elegant dance full of claws and fire, but nonetheless a dance of courtship.

'Damn it.' Finally losing his disciplined edge, Erwan closed his eyes and let out a cry of his own to match the dragon roars echoing in the air. Turning toward the rider astride the fellow male dragon, he tried to make eye contact amid the intricacies of their twisting flights as if courting the human in the way of the dragons.

Hayden caught the eye of another male rider, the one seated upon the giant rust-colored dragon, and felt himself flush, glancing away. He recognised both dragon and rider as their partners for the mission they were supposed to be on, and he squirmed slightly in his saddle, letting out a soft whine as the powerful feelings of lust rose from his bond with Liyiath.

He spotted the white female, surprised to see a dragon so stranfe in these parts. He wondered briefly if she were wild, before spotting the rider astride her back. He recognised neither of them, frowning slightly. Could this be the bonded rebel rider tgey'd heard so much about?

He was about to dpeak when Liyiath took a sudden dive, changing course to follow this new female, seeing her as an easier target and sensingbher need.

Knowing there was simply no reasoning with his dragon, he merely held on tight, focusing on repressing his feelings, andhoping he didn't get caught by either of the riders when this was over. He might be nineteen, but he had no desire of his own to mate like this.

If Chance was any other normal human, then the intricate spirals, intertwining with other dragons would have made normal humans sick and fallen to their death. He knew what the mating flight looked like from the ground, it looked like a giant slithering ball, much like coming upon a nest of snakes. Though when it came to snakes it involved one female and a bunch of males trying to mate with her. Dragons were not like that, well not the dragons that Chance knew anyways. It seemed to be mainly one or two male dragons, surrounded by females trying to get their attention, giving up once they were mated.

His head felt like it was going to split from the mental calls that the white female was giving, unable to voice her needs, wants, or the carnal drive that drove her to barrel into the blue female to knock her out of the sky. Anger swirled like a red tide within her, rising up to choke her, making her feel as if she were burning up from the inside. Chance felt his dragon's emotions as if they were his own, they seemed to meld to one mind.Their breath became harsh and shallow, his hands automatically curling into fists into the fur beneath him. Soon the jealous feeling was placed with excitement, anticipation as he gave into the feeling, giving his own roar like yell to help his companion to communicate with others. Though when she opened her maw, no sound came out, only a fine green mist did. Laila, flashed her underbelly, wrapping her tail around one of the males, forgetting her fear over the size of them.

She knew what she wanted and that was a male, and to have an egg all her own. She was going to get it one way or another. Chance spotted a male on the back of the rust colored dragon, unable to help the heated gaze that he gave him, winking to him before he went out of sight. Soon the male blue dragon came into view. He noticed the much younger male that was riding on his back, making a growling like noise as he looked at him hungrily, feeling the heat rise up inside once more. Vaguely registering that these were dragon riders, as the raw animalistic fervor was far more prominent. Laila gave a low thrum, she was being chased, she was wanted! No other dragon had wanted her, this was a true first and she could not wait to feel another dragon's touch. She was not going to make this an easy capture for the blue male, after all, he needed to work for it and prove he was a good match for her in her opinion. Chance himself could not wait for after the dragons mated, it meant that he could find a temporary mate of his own to douse this thirst with.

Hayden, noticing the look the rider of the white dragon gave him, flushed, and turned his attention back to Liyiath, and staying on his dragon as he gave chase to the white dragon. Hayden couldn't help but admire the beauty of the female, amazed to see a white dragon- he'd heard they were extinct, or only a myth. Yet here before him flew a white. And female, at that.

Liyiath gave a roar, falling into a dive, hoping to catch the female off guard, and get hold of her so he could sate his need. Hayden, despite his reluctance, felt the same, and gave a shout at the same time, urging his dragon on faster. For him, it was a matter of getting this over with, smirking when Liyiath came within reach of the other, one forepaw (?) grazing her hindquarters in an attempt to catch her.

Chance flashed a charming smile to the Young male, having forgotten about Erwan who was on the extremely large male dragon. Well forgotten about him for now, he will be very much on his mind once they were on the ground once more. He looked back over his shoulder at Hayden, chuckling to himself before yelling out once more, matching his yell to the internal once that called out to him.

Laila was graceful, as she swirled, dive, and looped around the males in an intricate aerial dance display. She tried hard to stay out of their reach. Her head snaked back as she looked at the blue male when she felt his claws graze her, causing her to roll over to where she was flying with her back towards the ground, belly exsposed. She opened her jaws, a green mist flowing out.

Chance can feel her shiver with anticipation, he held tight to her back, trying not to think about the fact that he could fall to his death at any moment. Though the worry did not last long as she changed directions, shooting up higher into the air, trying to make it past the clouds. She climbed, and the higher she got the slower her ascent got, so it was no surprise when someone collided with her. He could hear the snap of their wings, wind whistling past his ears, their tails swishing furiously. They were just a ball of mess, plummeting towards the ground, only slowing descent when wings caught the air.

He can hear the roars of those dragons around them, even the snapping of jaws, trying to avoid the claws that came towards him. The last thing he needed was to be injured, he wasn't even sure what was going on at the moment, and occasionally he and the younger male can make eye contact. He did his best to ignore the sick feeling he was getting in his stomach from all the rolling and falling, focusing instead on the feelings that his dragon felt.

Holding onto Laila, Liyiath directed them towards the nearest piece of ground he could find large enough for them both to land on. As soon as the were even close, Hayden was out of his seat, landing roughly on the ground, rolling a few paces before stopping, and getting to his feet. He glanced over at the dragons, looking away again quickly as he realized that Liyiath's attemps to seduce the female had seemingly been successful.

Rornigoth did a passing circle and roar over the white female, but when the blue one nearly hit him with her tail in frustration, he caught hold of it in his teeth and they spun off together. Even with obvious pairs having been made in the brief dance and tension, the four dragons still all danced together, in and out, as if taunting their partner. Erwan barely paid any attention to it. His vision was narrowed, totally focused on the darker spines along Rornigoth's back. So why, why were the images flashing in front of his eyes full of smokey eyes, dragon teeth, and twisted, sweaty human limbs instead? He felt his breath catch again.

He'd become alone in a game of passion, so when Rornigoth hissed in fury at another attempt thwarted by the sapphire dragoness, Erwan found anger rising in him as well. A second later though, Rornigoth's claws got their hold--no doubt through the females desire than his despite the greater size of the rust dragon. After all, that was sometimes his drawback and Rornigoth would chastise him for the thought in any other moment. However, the dragon just guided them toward the ground to prove he'd won this female and by the downward swoop of the female, claws locked with Rornigoth's for a second, proof that she accept it. Once they finished their show, they'd take to the air again, but Erwan thrilled with the knowledge that he could get away.

None of the other humans showed him interest, but he needed it. As they rolled into the ground, he let himself drop off his dragon's back and stagger. The ground felt uneven under his feet. So hot. Could he die from this need? Even though he knew the answer, he thought it plausible in this second. It didn't even take a second to find the other humans who landed first. He started toward them even though he didn't want this at all. It just couldn't be helped.

Some time had passed since the dragon riders had first seen each other in the ball of dragons. Now they were safely on the ground while their dragons were possibly still off mating. Chance ran a hand through his wet hair, he pulled his clothes back on over his now clean body. Looking around to see if he can spot Hayden or Erwan as they were not where he had left them.

He thought back before remembering to seeing the younger male in the river as well, getting clean just like he was. He decided to wait there for them, spotting Erwan's eye patch, he bent down and picked it up so he could play with it. His thoughts wandered to what two dragon riders were doing in this area, then it hit him like a ton of bricks. They were probably looking for him, after all, he was gathering people to rebel against the lord of the land, against the system that they were so desperate to maintain control over.

He balled his hands into fists, the bliss and ecstasy that he had felt earlier were all but gone from his mind. "Laila...Come back now. We might need to make a quick getaway before heading back to the hideout." he thought to her, his mental voice was not as authoritative as the voice he had shared with the males. When the white female dragon landed, bringing the others with her, he was just glad that she too had gotten clean from her endeavors.

He went over to her, running his hand down her spines as he looked her over for any wounds that she might have gotten, glad there was none. He then turned his attention to the other two. "Hey big boys. Don't worry i am not going to hurt you two. I am just going to see if you got any injuries that need tending." he said to them cautiously, moving closer to them so that he could look them over, still waiting for their riders to show up again.

Hayden had come out a little ways upstream from Chance. He'd noticed the silver haired male, and flushed, his emotions conflicted. He didn't know how he should react to the man- on the one hand, they'd just shared a very intimate moment... On the other, he had been reluctant, acting mostly under heat influence, and the man had left immediately after... He felt dirty, used, in a way that the cold water couldn't rinse away.

He'd stripped his pants off, setting them and the rest of his clothing on the bank as he dunked himself into the water all at once, shivering when he came back up. He grabbed a handful of moss from a nearby rock, using it to scrub the remnants of their activities from his skin. When he felt cleaner, he got out, shivering slightly. While bathing he'd seen the dragons land near Chance, and he called now to Liyiath.

The beast walked down the riverbank to him, rubbing his scaly head against the boy's chest, a low growling sound coming from him which Hayden knew to be one of contentment and pleasure. "I take it you enjoyed yourself?" He said, smiling, stroking the beasts head, before moving down his body to the saddle, unfastening a small satchel from it and pulling a clean set of clothing from it, dressing after drying off with his old shirt. This outfit had soft, dark grey-brown trousers and a pale blue shirt. He fastened what little armour he had to his body and belted his pants, feeling more secure now that he was dressed once more.

Liyiath gave a bob of his head. "I did... And you also... I could sense it... But you are... Not happy?" He asked, looking at his rider carefully.

Hayden sighed. "I don't know what to feel, Lee...." He said softly, leaning his head against the Blue's shoulder, smiling faintly when he felt that head against him again.

"Do not worry so, little one. Many feel that way their first times... Or so I've been told... Now come, I believe the bond of Laila wishes to speak with you."

Hayden flushed, but gathered his belongings into the satchel, reattaching it to his saddle, then followed Liyiath down river towards Chance.

Erwan could hear the other two bathing themselves and he sighed. He wanted to be clean as well, but he knew that he needed to put himself in order first, lest someone see him. Once dressed as best as he could manage, he stepped toward the river because the tell-tale sound of dragon wings promised a scene. And he was not let down. Chance stood on the river bank, the white dragon in front of him and the other dragon's nearby--the blue with Hayden now walking toward the others and Rornigoth on the other side of the river with his head high and golden eyes narrowed with haughty venom.

'May I kill this human?' the monstrous dragon asked the second Erwan focused on their mental pathway. The figure of this particular gaze appeared to be Chance. Erwan didn't bother asking why. Rornigoth neither obeyed nor favored any human besides his chosen bond. Most could not approach without threat unless the rust dragon was in one of his magnanimous moods and those were rare. Even kindness often got treated with disdain.

'Not now,' Erwan bit back. Which wasn't really a no when he thought back over it, but he was pretty sure he needed something out of Chance now if not at least a few answers. Starting with, who was he?

"Hayden!" Calling out, he hurried to match paces with the younger dragon rider before they could reach the stranger. "How are you feeling?" he asked once close enough for a private whisper. "I know it's hard the first time, but don't take it personally. We riders of the king still have to stick together." He glanced over at Chance before flashing Hayden a smile. "Be cautious." With that, he stepped to within conversation distance of the large male they'd just been intimate with, pushing back his shoulders and lifting his head much like Rornigoth. Never mind the naked feeling on the left side of his face.

"Now that that is over, I suppose introductions are in order?"

Hayden looked up when he heard his name, surprised to see Erwan, not so surprised to feel a strange fluttering in his chest. He'd had feelings for the older blonde for a while. He forced a smile, trying to hide his true emotions. Last thing he needed was either of the men realizing how he felt then, and think he regretted being with them.

"A-alright..." He said, quietly, a little confused now. What was he not supposed to take personally? The fact they'd coerced him into sex, or that they'd left him? Because both ideas caused an ache deep in his chest. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for this conversation, pushing the part of him that wanted to run and hide and cry to the back of his mind. He could do that when he was away from these two, once his and Erwan's mission was over.

Chance frowned as Liyiath walked over towards Hayden, though it did not hurt his feelings, he was only being the doctor that was raised to be and trying to take care of those around him even if they may not need his help. He turned his attention towards Rornigoth, the massive dragon was intimidating but he did not show it as he moved closer to him.

He ignored the deadly glare that he was receiving, completely aware of Laila at his back the whole time. She tried to make herself try to appear as if she were larger than she really was as she tried to protect her rider from this highly dangerous dragon. She spread her wings wide, opening her jaws as if she was trying to speak to the rust colored dragon but no sound came out.

Chance pet her head to calm her down, a sad look came over his face as he gazed at her, feeling a pain deep inside at her lack of being able to communicate with those of her own kind. He reassured her once more before pulling away, gently placing a hand on Rornigoth as he begins to look him over for any wounds that he might have sustained. Clearly not worried about what the elder dragon may do to him for touching him and caring about him when his rider should have been the one to do so.

Chance looked over at the two males upon hearing one call to the other, aware of which one that was called Hayden. He moved away from the other dragon's pressing his forehead against Laila's as they shared a silent moment with each other. He couldn't help but give a deep rumbling laugh at how Erwan was trying to act all high and mighty, his mind remembering how submissive he had been only moments earlier.

"Introductions will be nice considering I am sure we will being seeing a lot more of each other."
Chance spoke in a light teasing tone to them, a smile crossing his face as he seemed far more amused than he should have been. He looked Hayden over, giving him a small teasing wink. "Hey, don't worry next time will be completely different between us," he spoke honestly to him, giving him a wink. Completely aware that he had no shoes on, his shirt was open and that he might get weird looks since it was clear that Laila had no saddle unlike the other two.

"Your dragons have no major wounds from what I have seen. If you do find some major ones just let me know. Laila and I can patch them up." he spoke to them, the authority returning to his voice as he gave them a serious look, realizing it was time for business. He blinked before he also remembered that he had not introduced himself. "My name is Chance Saito but those I know just call me Saito." he said to them, giving a small bow of his head into greeting. "I know that you are Hayden. So who does that make you?

Rornigoth huffed at the little white dragon as she tried to puff herself up, though he didn't totally discredit her. However, it took only another sharp word from Erwan over their mental link to get the large dragon to turn his hostile gaze away. The dragon didn't move to follow his rider like the others, but it was probably best with limited space. No, this dragon would watch over them and protect his rider without the slightest hint of mercy. Sometimes it was a marvel he took on a rider at all.

Putting on an easy smile, Erwan stopped half a step in front of Hayden as he met the other man's authority with one that matched. Where Chance had been teasing though, Erwan laced his authority with a demure politeness. "Seeing more of each other? Yes, I suppose that is an astute conclusion. After all, not many strangers travel with unsaddled dragons," he pointed out. Glancing at Hayden, he supposed he revealed the younger male's name by speaking to him earlier, but he still left it up to him to make his own proper introduction. Instead, he pulled himself tall in an almost military strict pose to stare down Chance from his own shorter height.

"I am Erwan Devenish of the Dragon Guard. We were sent to find and question a rebel dragon rider. You?" He tilted his head. There was no play in this gesture though. He meant business from the start. "I wonder just what the chances are we would meet like this...Chance."

Hayden flushed slightly at the tease, nodding when Chance said he knew who he was. Since Erwan said they'd been sent, he didn't bother introducing himself properly. Chance could make his own assumptions that he was also part of the Dragon Guard... albeit only a junior member. He straightened a bit, standing just behind and to the side of Erwan, trying to make himself seem a little more professional.

He shifted slightly as the adults spoke, eyes shifting cautiously around, scanning the trees and the sky for signs of other humans or dragons. They could potentially put this meeting at risk, especially if they happened to be another Rebel. He discreetly brushed the pouch on his belt, fingers slipping inside and withdrawing a small throwing blade, just in case, keeping it hidden in the palm of his hand.

Laila glared at Rornigoth, not caring at the huff he gave her. She might be smaller, younger than him but that was not going to stop her from going with the female instincts to protect what is precious to her. She flapped her feather wings, giving a silent cry to him one last time, trying to let him know that she was ready for what may come.

Chance stood tall, confidence radiating off him as he watched the two, aware of the white behind him trying to appear as intimidating as she possibly could. "I don't believe in constricting, my friend with something like a saddle," he spoke to him with a tone that hinted at his disapproval fo how they made their dragons wear one. He understood why they were after all their dragons had scales where his had fur.

His demeanor changed from a light playful one to more serious one, crossing his arms before he sighed heavily. He had hoped that this would be just a friendly chat but it was clear that this was going to be more business than what he had been hoping for. He resisted the urge to roll eyes, giving Erwan a bored look at seeing him slip into his military role. "Dragon Guard." He stated, managing to keep his tone even and business like, not letting on how disgusted he was at the title.

He did not offer up the information that he was a rebel or the name of his group, after all, he had a feeling he knew what they were there for. "Well, Erwan. I am sure the chances are slim. Considering none of us had any idea that this would happen." he did his best to hide his emotions from the males, though he did not hide the bored look on his face. Hayden drew his eyes, he watched the young male, curious to what he was doing, frowning even more at seeing his reaction.

The setting and vibe they were both giving off, let him know that this was a huge mistake and that he should have just left after they had their little tryst. "Alright. You want to talk Business then Let's talk." the boredom was gone from his eyes, replaced with a deadly serious look, hinting at something dangerous that lay beneath the surface. "What are your plans for The White Wings Dragonrider," he said to them, revealing the name of his rebel group. It was not a very inventive name for the rebel group but it worked well since he was made to be the leader and well his dragon was white. "What if this rebel dragon rider was looking for you and had questions for you both as well?"

He sensed the dragons shift and seemed to bristle at his comment, his hand moving to grab a fistful of white fur, letting Laila know to be ready to make a run for it. It might not have been the best idea to reveal the group name or hinting at the fact he was who they were looking for. His eyes narrowed, clearly letting them know that he was not going to come easily. Sure alone he was a very intimidating man, only made to look softer at the delicate appearing dragon behind him.

Erwan eyed Chance for a second, weighing his words with care. He didn't appear to be in a hurry with this conversation though tension continued to built. He glanced at Laila again, inspecting the smaller furred creature. It was indeed a beautiful dragon and wild looking with it. All members of the Dragon Guard saddled their dragons though, differentiating between the bonded dragons and the wild ones. It was this that set Chance apart the most, showing his dragon had been bonded from the wild and completely involved in the exams, training, and systems of the Guard. How dull.

"Saddles are for the rider's safety and a necessity should they ever be involved in a battle. In flight, it is as unhindering as possible and designed for optimal aerodynamics. Current designs help the rider attune to the motions of the dragon wouldn't crinking their back in order to crouch over for long distances," he sighed. Erwan could have been a teacher giving a lesson, but his bored speech was set off by the still sharp and alert focus to his eyes. Through not a second of his speaking did the older dragon rider relax. He could see too that Chance was ready to bolt. To follow or not? Really, the answer was clear.

And for a minute, that tension stayed like that with the two riders staring down at each other and Hayden just behind, the shift of his hand revealing his reach for a weapon. Good, so he too sensed this mood. But then, right when it seemed it couldn't get any tenser, Erwan rolled back his shoulders and smiled.

"We didn't come to fight, you know. Actually, the guard thinks this is a good opportunity to learn. You are a dragon rider as well so we consider you one of our own. It would be against our purpose here if you could not also speak freely with us." Erwan flashed another smile and gestured between the three of them. "Why don't we all finish freshening up and get comfortable to talk? Like friends," he added with a low murmur. There was a sardonic tone to the last words, but he didn't lie either even if he never ordered Rornigoth to drop his own guard. That situation could just remain for all he cared. All the better.

Chance kept the calculating gaze on his face, relaxing his fist as he smoothed the fur out that was underneath it. Only looking away from them slightly as Laila drew his attention, his way of letting them know that there was a mental chat going on between the two of them.

'Chance....we should get them to join us.' Laila prompted him, pawing at the ground a bit, nudging him with her tail as if that would help.

'You have a point. They were trained by the guards and far better equipped to battle then we are when it comes to that.' Mentally thought to her, a bitterness to the thought when he said guard, it showed on his face that he had no respect for the organization.

Anger flared up on Laila's face, her jaws opening, no sound coming out. She stamped her foreleg in frustration, a fine green mist coming out, sinking to the ground between her and her rider, thorns growing up some as if to hurt the male. 'Watch your tone! The father of my eggs is a guard.' her lip curled up in a snarl, huffing before turning her head away.

"Alright. I got it." this time speaking aloud as he moved away from the prickly bush, having to move to her other side just to be safe. Mentally chastising her for revealing her power to their enemies even if they all had more than that between them. He turned his attention back to the two males, just now realizing that he had been given a lecture on rider safety and the advancement of saddle modifications.

He tried to look as if he was interested, but he didn't really care. He never went to the dragon rider training camps, he didn't pledge his life and the life of his dragon to the guard. No, he found Laila in the wild and they had bonded, everything he knew and learned maybe crude and completely wrong by the Guards' book but he was all self-taught and that was how he liked it. "I am not one of you." he spoke with a calm voice, those his mind was tossed into anger for the older male to even consider him to be the same as him.

Chance was not going to fall for that smile for one second, not when one was ready to use a weapon on him and the other one clearly was formulating a plan much like he was for the worse case scenario. "The weapon says otherwise." he stated, nodding his head to Hayden and the weapon he thought he so cleverly took out. "I am fine like I am." he didn't move an inch as it was clear that Erwan was trying to either defuse the situation or to get him to let his guard down so he could dule out the punishment befitting a dragon rider outside the guard.

"We would have a better time if you both left the Guard and came to join us." he spoke bluntly, crossing his arms again. They didn't stay crossed for long before as he reached back out to stroke the white fur once more, to comfort the dragon.

Pausing, Erwan watched the other dragon rider and his mount converse in their silent way. Because there was no doubt that they were talking even if he saw only the shifting of eyes and the dragon stamping her foot. 'I wonder if they are arguing about us...' he directed toward Rornigoth. The dragon just huffed in response, rolling one of his great eyes.

'Undoubtedly. Aren't we also?' However, with a shift of his scaled wings, the dragon settled down to a more comfortable watching position across the river. He swept his eyes over all the dragons and humans present, resisting the urge cut in on Laila and Chance's conversation to unnerve the female. That could wait for later. 'Do you think I could get her grow me some thorns? Or a nest?'

Erwan ground his teeth. 'Shut up.' Though he had to admit, the little show of green mist did intrigue him. However, he didn't give himself time to think on it. Eyes snapping back to Chance's face, he smiled in response. Though inside, he frowned. "I don't think any of us would have a better time if the two of us left the guard," he stated. Turning his head away, he gestured to the river as if nothing significant happened now. "Well, I'm going to wash up a little bit. Continue to talk if you want. Don't expect to change my answer though, nor my view that you are not the enemy." He knelt down by the water. Yet.

After rubbing some water over his face, he glanced back over at his companion, noting that he still looked tense. He should, but Erwan was trying calm things since their situation really wasn't to harm now. "Hayden, it's alright. Why don't you get the letter that the commander gave us. It's about time to share, don't you think?"
