Duck Hunt on the original NES ^__^ I don't know why I really liked it, I hate hunting, but I just found it enjoyable.
Another favorite was Dr. Mario, also from the original NES. I was never very good at other games, Mario was fun but I could never beat one of those games. Never had the patience or skills for those.

my favorite old game isn't really that old. it's for the dreamcast. It is Space Channel 5. I really liked it, though my copy wouldn't let me go to the last level, so I never really finished it.

Ecco the Dolphin games on Sega Genesis.
Ecco Jr. was creepy but easy, except that as a kid, it took me about an hour and a half instead of thirty minutes like it does now...
The other Ecco games are insanely hard, especially Tides of Time for me.
I think I really liked a lot of old PC games, by Apogee, like Monster Bash and Hocus Pocus. Hilariously goofy platformers and totally underappreciated...and I played them on MS DOS. XD
Yeah, they are old!
I also loved Wolfenstein. :)

Donkey Kong country, and the Kirby games. It's all about Kirby.
Also, Tetris. Although they keep remaking it, I don't know if you can count it as old.

I like the Sonic games for the Genesis. I also liked Diddy Kong Racing for the N64.
I remember playing that one a lot when I was a kid. Unfortunately I never owned it.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest for the Super NES..what really got me into video games, and it might be the case just into rpgs really. I likely wouldn't be playing Dungeons and Dragons if I haven't played this game. Its a very basic rpg after looking up the game after many years. I never did beat it sadly...

I have one all time favourite: Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals (SNES).
Lufia II actually takes sets before Lufia I, following the footsteps of the legendary Maxim, Selan, Guy and Arty (also Tia, Dekar and Lexis) on their journey to defeat the four mighty sinistrals.
My favourite characters in this game are Selan (commander of the Parcelyte army, very powerful woman :D ) and the mysterious Iris, who turns out to be someone entirely different.
The pace of the game is just right, not too fast, not too slow. It has some nice puzzles that make your brains do something for a change and if you're done, you can always try to beat the Ancient Cave and get all the rare treasures ;)
Lufia II is a classic, I can only wish they'll make an RPG as good as that one someday
