@Risque: I’ve been hearing that catch phrase a lot. Hey, if it gets people to be more organized and clean, sounds good.

@Kent: My favorite is called Basara by Tamura Yumi. (Aka not the Sengoku Basara series that’s much more popular.) On the plus side, Viz did slowly translate and release the whole series (25 volumes). The downside is that the only places you can read it online are from bad fan translations (seriously, a huge key part of the story is mistranslated in the first paragraph). The official anime never went beyond the first few volumes of the manga either. So any time I recommend it to people there’s no way for them to actually read it and see if they like it. And reading the Wikipedia page quickly spoils huge parts of the story too.

But here’s a short description I guess: main female protagonist who doesn’t fall into the cliches that a lot of other manga use. Huge cast of interesting characters. Lots of battles, political intrigue, romance, some comedic relief. Takes place in a post-apocalyptic Japan that in a lot of ways has reverted back to the past, so there are call backs to major historical events. The story spans the whole area of Japan too so you get to see different regions with different dialects/cultures. I’ll admit the art can be an acquired taste but the story is A+.

@Ferra - Oh, I remember seeing that one in bookstores long ago. O: I didn’t know the story was like that. Sounds complicated. I wonder if I’d like it. o: I don’t think it interested me the first time I saw it. XD

Edit: Oh hey, it’s available in digital format on kindle and the viz app~ I might check it out someday~ The style of art reminds me of the style my favorite mangaka used to use. X3

It’s not nearly as fantastical or dark, but if you liked Game of Thrones it has similarities in terms of being a political struggle for taking control of Japan out of the hands of a king who is bad at ruling. What I like about it is that all of the characters are really interesting and multifaceted. But yeah, it’s a manga that requires you to follow along rather than being a casual read. I borrowed it from my library randomly and after a few volumes I was hooked.

If you want something very easy to watch, I’ve been watching One Punch Man and that’s really enjoyable.

Of the current season of anime, I’m really liking Kono Oto Tomare. I’m a big fan of slice-of-life anime. <3

It's such a silly and serious story at the same time, though more silly than serious xD
I can't wait until Murata finishes up on the current arc in the manga, I like the six-eyed dog. o 3o

@Kent: Well good news is that Basara doesn’t have nearly as much sex and violence. But there’s some of both. Not gratuitous nor super graphic, in my opinion.

I also like Mumen Rider. He seems like a genuinely nice guy but I kind of wish he didn’t put himself in positions where he gets the crap beaten out of him. I’ve only seen the first season and now 4 episodes of season 2 since it’s free on Japanese Amazon Prime. How many seasons/manga total are there?

lol Yeah, Mumen Rider tries so hard...he definitely gets an A for effort.

I haven't seen the second season of OPM yet, it's only recently out I think. I've heard that the second season of OPM isn't as good as the first season because they changed production companies. Murata's version is currently at chapter 148 if I remember correctly, while ONE is at chapter...112? I think?

i bet i know what contest this is for you really nailed that flower brief without making it overly obvious. it took me a minute to recognize all the flowers for what they are, because it's a very surreal, dark, magical sort of flowery landscape. i love it.
