If it is an actual painting, does it have to be framed? I have a really nice one that's too big for framing

Can we edit all of our pictures into a single picture? Like, a collage?

That's... not that many. o.O Each knife has a specific shape reflecting its use. Using the right knife means a lot less work!
  • Grapefruit knife: blade that curves to the side for cutting grapefruit away from the peel
  • Santoku: mainly for cutting up veggies, the angle and narrowness of the blade is good for quick sharp cuts
  • boning knife: Long, thin, flexible blade makes it good for getting the bones out of fish and poultry
  • meat cleaver: thick heavy blade makes it good for cutting up large pieces of meat
  • paring knife: blade is shaped kind of like half a crescent moon so it fits nicely along vegetables and fruit for peeling them
  • Carving knife: long and thin for cutting thin pieces of meat
  • Steak Knife: Serrated blade helps cut cooked steak into neat chunks-- they'd actually want a set of them, because each person eating steak would want one
  • Bread Knife: Long blade with very close together serrations helps cut bread smoothly without squishing it flat

Guess who's slightly fanatic about using the proper knife for the proper job. ^^;

Oh! missed tomato knife. >.> Those are super thin and super sharp, so they won't bruise the tomato when they cut it.

Now that you have explained a couple, I'm sure I have some of those in my home ^_^

Surprisingly enough, I do not own all these. I'm not a seafood fan so I don't have a boning knife, and grapefruit spoons are much more convenient than finding somewhere to store a freakishly curved knife... I wonder if we're allowed to suggest alternatives. o.o

Oh wow. I've always just used the first knife that I came upon ^^' Except the bread knife, which I've always used for bread.

Lots of people do that... unless they're guys, in which case they tend to use the biggest knife they have. No offense, guys, but most of you totally do that. -.-

Personally, I'm just clumsy and I've found that using the right knife for the job means I have a lot fewer nicks and cuts on my hands. Plus things tend to go faster.

@Wyrm: You would think other dudes would be able to tell the difference. :P I mean, "hey, I should totally use this bread knife to cut my steak!" Or, "Hmm, I want to be particularly violent towards this bread with this steak knife!"

I had a roommate once who'd use his meat cleaver for everything. Cutting veggies, peeling an apple, anything. I think he only owned the meat cleaver and a couple of steak knives, and he thought he was a tough guy.

He was pretty intimidated when I moved in with my assortment of sharp pointies for every purpose.

Well, at least you're incredibly prepared! Can never have too many sharp, pointy objects around. :P

If the apocalypse comes, everyone should just come crash at my house. It's way back in the country so we aren't likely to be bothered, and I'm pretty well stocked with food and weapons!

Exactly! There are a lot of objects lying around that can be improvised as a blunt weapon.

... It seems a little wrong to be talking about weapons in a wedding registry thread.

Fair enough!

... does a flail count as a blunt weapon? *Considers leaving comfy chair in order to consult gaming manuals on that count*
