Adria casually walked down the stairs of the penthouse. The loft she had been in sheltered a cot and bedside stand that obviously had been recently used. The sheets were crumbled and a drawer slightly ajar. Yet not a single strand of her black hair nor a fingerprint of her long, slender fingers would be found there. Keeping out of sight and not existing was second nature to her.

Reaching the main floor, she glanced into the kitchen and noted the muffins on the counter. Maybe she would get something later. Turning, she went into the livingroom. Seeing her step from the shadows into the dimly lit room, two men glanced up momentarily. Taking in her black long leather coat and leather outfit with matching boots, they turned back to their work. She walked around and stood behind them.

"Adria," greeted one of the men. He was her communications and research specialist. It appeared he was already pulling up a map for her next mission.

"Steve," she replied back.

"Adria, come look at this." She turned and looked at what the second fellow was holding. It looked like a necklace. "This is our newest technology. It runs on the same energy that our computer network runs on. They have internet. We have Spinternet. They have scanners that pick up transmissions and bugs. We have our black holes. Try it on."

"Interesting James." She excepted the necklace from her tinkering friend. He was into gizmos and such. "If anyone who knows their electronics every gets a hold of the technology you create, you know that they will be able to make modifications that would improve it." He was always making gizmos of some sort.

"I know, but trust me, this is best. Once other people get a hold of stuff, they tend to make bad side effects. Ever hear of viruses?"

She mentally rolled her eyes. It was his high horse and not a new subject to her. "I'm going to go get familiar with the route for tomorrow night. Steve, let me see a map."

He pulled it up for her, "I haven't figured a best route yet, but there are several highlighted. You decide which is A, B, and C..."

She was already walking out the sliding class door and onto the balcony. Taking the small steps up to the roof, she paused and looked out over the city.

The following night, Adria was in position. Watching and waiting. It was the second best spot for her operation tonight. Normally she would play the part of undercover spy. But tonight it was the execution spy that she was performing. The best spot to take out her target would be covered if there was another agent out there. She didn't want to take any chances. So she took the next best spot. There was a view where her target would be. However, there was also a very good view of that "best spot" that normally she would have taken.

In moments, her high profile target stepped out of the shadowed door and walked with purpose to his car. She lifted her rifle and put him in her sites. Breathing slower and willing her heart to stay steady, she waited. The driver opened the back passenger door for him. He nodded his thanks and...

She pulled back. This wasn't him. He never saw those who worked for him, but less thanked him. That meant this was a set up. She checked the spot she would have chosen. There was a figure crouched up there, not where he could see the target but where he could see the entire area. She eased into the shadows and disappeared.

Adria strolled into her office. It was a small office in an accounting agency. A large agency that had so many workers that they couldn't possibly all know each other. Situated carefully, she was invisible within the crowd. Pulling the door shut, she looked at the person sitting in her chair. At her desk. With his feet propped up. "Get out."

He stood and moved around to the front of the desk. She stayed by the door, her hand on the knob. He causally suggested, "The target is going to a party tonight. I left your invitation in your top drawer." She opened the door and let him out. He walked out silently. An agent she knew nothing about, but who showed up when things went wrong.

Turning, she walked to her desk and slowly pulled the drawer open. Slowly so that if there was a bomb inside, she would hear the click that could save her life. Inside was none other than an elegant envelope. She was going to a party alright. A high class one.

Evening was in full swing. The art gallery was packed with politicians, celebrities, and the old families with money. There were many caterers all around serving the various guests. Adria glanced them over for any sign of agents. There were a few bodyguards in disguise but no one to be concerned about.

Then someone walked past her. She stepped back to give herself a space bubble. He glanced up and she looked into the face of her target. Giving a slight smile, she realized it was her lucky night. He had run into her while she was just standing there. No one watching his back would take note of her. His face showed interest, which only widened her grin.

The next day, the news top headlines were of the latest high profile killing. The president of the Nerwan Company was found dead of an apparent heart attack. It was sudden and brought the company's art gallery debut to a halt. Pieces on display there were now in limbo and not being moved. It was the perfect set up for a robbery.
