Merry meet all, I just got redirected to this thread from the Uni Students Library.

I am going into my first year in less than a month
I am panicing but know its not as horrid as i think it will be. I want to meet other people who have been where I am so I dont feel as alone *blushes* I really want to make new friends and you all seem like the best candidates since you understand time conflicts :)

What are you most worried about? The first year of college will suck, not gonna lie, but it's worth it to not be in high school anymore. :lol:

I am alright, I am worried about money, about the fact i have never done homework or studied in my life and about meeting new people because i really am super shy in real life........ p.s. black widow sounds much better than cougar (and i am glad to hear you are doing atleast alright ^^)

@Requiem: Don't worry about it. I'm a horrendous slacker, never studied in college, and still never had a problem. Lowest grade I ever got was a C+ in a philosophy class that was the only elective that fit in my schedule. I did better than expected for missing class half the time and showing up after a night of heavy partying the other half.

i was so involved in college it wasn't even funny... i don't know how i found time to party... but i did ;)

The money is going to be hard, but you're just going to have to learn to deal with it the best you can.

The best advice I can give you is not to go crazy your first year. There's going to be some serious peer pressure depending on where you go. It'll be worse if you're going to a university instead of a community college. Just because people tell you you should be different doesn't mean you should change.

Also, everybody is new in college. Period. So most people are willing and looking to make new friends all the time. Even uber shy people find a nice group of people in college.

does anyone hear know what applied linguistics is? this year i have three linguistics courses bio Italian and communication of language (so glad there is still another month) *jumps in imaginary pool* and as for peer pressure well i will be going to university about four hours from where i am from (i dont drive)

At least 75% of what I did was party but I'm including concerts and off campus parties in that as well. I miss those days, life's so boring now.

I'm thinking "Applied Linguistics" means that you'll be actually "applying your knowledge and having to speak." That's just a guess, though. Somebody else might know better.

Sounds like language classes. Might have to deal with grammar and syntax.

College might sound scary but it's really no big deal as long as you have some common sense.

me and common sense doesnt go very well together my mom always says it is common sense not to wear a white tutu and 8 inch heals when there is a high chance for rain i say let it rain :)

Vix is right. I can't stress enough that you need to trust yourself before others. College will be where you make yourself. :yes: Don't let others make you.

I also don't have common sense when it comes to clothing. Never have. But Ely's always the one that looks hawt when nobody else is giving a shit. :lol:
