Trick or Trickery

Halloween. Trick or Treaters roaming the street, candy and costumes fill the stores. An old mansion sat atop a hill, rumoured to be haunted but empty. A group of five daring friends decide to go and explore the house for a laugh... but the mansion isn't empty. It's home to a family of Vampires.

The 'father' of the family, who created these Vampires to while away his loneliness, is out hunting but he has left his five 'children' home alone in the belief that they'd be safe from the danger of slayers if not out hunting with him. So when our plucky young adventurers arrive in the household they have no idea how much danger they are in...

Setting:

An old, seemingly haunted, mansion stood on a hillside on the edge of a small village. Filled with many large, almost empty rooms such as a large Ball Room, Drawing Room, dining room, many bedrooms, a Library and a large attic among the rooms in question.

Rules:

No chat speak, it's a Literate role play.
No instant hits. You do not have control over any characters other than your own. Also: no one is invincible!
No listed intros, post a proper introduction!
PM me your profile please, with a short role play sample. This is so I know how you portray your character or one who already exists...
Romance is great, just keep it clean, guys!
Swearing is all fine if it fits your character and the moment just don't go crazy with it all.
Also, I'd like to have a balance between the humans and the vampires, both in numbers and possible 'pairs'.

Profile Section:

Vampires:

Name: Kendra Faith
Age: 18 (appearance) 369 (reality)
Blood Status: Vampire
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance: Kendra. With three piercings in each ear, waist length hair and a gothic sense of fashion, Kendra looks every inch the modern Vampire. Her cold silver eyes shine out from under her raven black hair nearly as colourless as her deathly pale skin.
Bio: Kendra was born to a young human mother many years ago, at the age of eighteen she was bitten by a Vampire who longed to create a family to stave off his loneliness. She does not get on very well with her other 'siblings' and spends most of her time in her room or in the Library. She has habits of fidgeting when upset or nervous and when angry she flies into almost uncontrollable rages. When distressed she forbids her siblings from attempting to soothe her and has been known to spend a weeks worth of nights alone in her room, screaming and howling at the walls, one of the reasons why the villagers believe the house to be haunted.
Personality: She's a rather moody youth, despite her advanced age and fits in rather well with modern day Goths with her dress sense and mannerisms.

Humans:

Name: Amelia 'Millie' Jones
Age: 18
Blood Status: Human
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance: Ginger hair that brushes at her shoulders, soft blue eyes, freckles that dust over her nose and a relatively pale complexion. Amelia is relatively short for a girl her age.
Bio: Amelia, the eldest of three, with her two younger twin brothers, were raised by their aunt and uncle after their mum's death. The whereabouts of their father remains unknown, but the twins constantly love coming up with new theories, from being an astronaut to a secret agent they had come up with almost every solution under the sun that showed their father in a positive light, Millie is sure that he's on the run from the law.
Personality: Millie is relatively bubbly and cheerful but she does have a darker mysterious side. She's fascinated by magic and things that go bump in the night. Going up to the big house was her idea.

Halloween. The street beyond the large dark house was lined with pumpkins and children shouting loudly, begging for sweets from their neighbours and total strangers. People walking the gradually darkening streets would look up to the old abandoned mansion and swear that they could see the figure of a ghostly pale youth in one of the first story windows but whenever they looked again the figure was gone. From sight that is.

Kendra Faith stood by the window of her bedroom in the mansion, watching the costumed children laughing and shouting in the street below, whenever one stood the risk of seeing her however she darted behind the thick black curtains, concealing herself from view. She longed to be down among them, she was already dressed for the occasion, in her darkest and most modern clothes which made her skin look deathly pale, truly advertising her true self on the one night that no one would know any better. But she could not leave the house, it was her fathers wish that she stayed indoors and she would not risk her life merely for the sport of hunting mortals. No matter how tempting it may be.

Heaving a sigh she let herself sink into the chair that awaited her beside the window. She hated the ridiculous rules in the household, she hated her siblings and their stifling attitudes but above all she hated not being able to leave without her fathers permission. She hated being restrained, she wished to fly free. Mindlessly and unbidden her fingers stretched up to twirl with her earrings as she brooded over the unfairness of being confined to the house on Halloween.

Kendra stood, her tall back boots that gripped at her knees clunking against the floor with a noise that echoed across the large near-emptiness of her room. Her short black skirt shifted against her form with each small movement and her long black hair ghosted against her heavily embellished corset. She opened the door to her bedroom and walked out into the corridor with it's highly distressed appearance. Kendra didn't much care for the look of the house as she paid it very little attention, she was far more content to spend her time reading in the Library or brooding in her room.

She made her way down to the Ball Room and let her gaze wander once more to the street beyond the window. There were many crowds of children and teenagers, some being herded by parents others out on there own. Kendra ached to be out there, to be able to pursue a group of unguarded Trick or Treaters and fill herself to her satisfaction. She leant against the window and contented herself merely to watch as the 'world went by' on that most beautiful of nights.

Amelia looked at her reflection in the mirror and smiled. Her hair was tied up in a rather scruffy bun which looked unnaturally distressed with the addition of 'dust' and 'cobwebs' which made her look like she had just crawled out of a crypt. Her eyes were surrounded by thick black make-up that she had smudged down her cheeks and her face was covered in a strange blue/grey make up that made her face look even paler than usual. She was dressed in a long white dress which she had ripped, distressed and covered in mud, fake blood and the same dust/web combination. She was dressed as a zombie, and she was covered in scratches, cuts and blood.

She grabbed the scruffy white cloth bag she had made from the fabric she had ripped out of the middle of her dress to reveal her worst 'wound'. She headed down the stairs at a quick pace, her dirty white heels clomping on the stairs as she went. "Can't believe you're still going-" "-Trick or Treating!" her brothers laughed from the lounge, they were going to watch scary movies and had stocked up on sweets, fizzy drinks and popcorn. Their aunt had gone out for a meal with her friends in town. "At least I still know how to have fun!" she laughed heading out.

She met up with her friends a little way down the road, the sight their costumes made her laugh slightly but she managed to control herself... just. Surely, the could do something less childish and more scary than just Trick or Treating. Suddenly an idea that Millie had been considering all day emerged to the front of her mind. "I know something we could do! You guys all know that old abandoned mansion, right? Let's go explore it. It'll be fun!"

The little Millie could see of her friends faces made her laugh, some looked a little scared but others were eager but she knew her friends too well, they wouldn't argue much. "I heard there were zombies that rise from their graves in the night" one of the other girls piped up. 'Well I'd fit right in then!' Millie thought. Someone else mentioned ghosts and the screaming that could be heard from there "Whatever's up there, it's going to be fun. Right?" she asked, smiling a smile that looked a little creepy considering the state that her make up had made of her face.

Though she could hear the resistance in some of her friends voices she still managed to keep up her cheery mood "Let's go!" she called, leading the way toward the house, as she whistled the tune 'We're off to see the Wizard' causing some of the others to laugh at how mental she could be at times. The house loomed before them and as she stood before the front door Millie stopped, her cheery mood ebbing slightly as she considered the large, spooky and quite possibly haunted house in front of her. As everyone else reached the front step behind her she swallowed her fear and pushed the door open to reveal a rather spooky looking hallway, complete with creaking floorboards, chilling breeze and a feeling of dread and foreboding. "Okay... let's go in" she mumbled, all previous joviality vanished. This was scarier than she'd first thought.
