Haha, yeah, I mean, there's not much any reason to be here as a non-asian if you're not here to be an English teacher. XDDD (unless you're some high-ranked manager here to evaluate a factory or something like that I suppose...)

So not fair that just because they're white they get three times the pay than us 'natives' though. :c

I've been in the states for a few years. xP

@Dystopia: It's ok, the cram school environment wasn't very ideal anyway, wayy too much stress and all. My current job, despite not having much to do with English considering it was my major, is much more relaxed compared to that. :)

Yeah, only for three years if you count the time spent in a school though. xD The first four years of my life I pretty much hadn't learned much of anything in terms of language there, and then there was second through fourth grade...so technically my English level is around that of a fourth grader. xD But reading novels helped. :P

I'm pretty sure my writing back in fourth grade was horrible too. xDDD;; But I got better by reading a ton of novels and fanfiction. :P

ESL here too. xDDD

I remember having the hardest time trying to memorize how to spell 'closet'...mom was frustrated with how I couldn't seem to remember it and spelled it out for me. It was like an epiphany; "Oh! So it's just 'close' with a T at the end! Why didn't you tell me so?!" xDDDD

LOL your mom spoke english as well? That's good that she helped you out there~

we had to write journals/tell our class what we did over the weekend. i would always tell them my "sister" didn't live with me and she lived downstairs with her parents. my teachers probably thought i was insane or in a soap opera drama or something because i said i had parents and she had parents but they were not the same parents. i think for a whole 3 years people thought i had majooooor family issues.

rofl. Oops. That's amazing.

But understandable. I'm Korean and in Korean, we refer to siblings and cousins in the same way.

Where I was, children were not permitted to learn a second language and it was highly discouraging. The thoughts at the time were that if a child become bi lingual sp?, then the child might not speak their first language as well as they could ahve. We now know this is nonsense as children pick up second languages without compromisjng their first language.
