This is a lovely bit of Studio Ghibli music/film. Liable to make you cry if you're feeling a bit emotional. I can't find an actual clip of this bit of the film anywhere, it's only ever stills. :(
I watched an English dub of Totoro on Youtube, but it's been removed since because of copywrite violation. I cried at least 3 times watching it, it's just so lovely.
You have about a billion TV stations in the US, aren't Ghibli films ever shown? I'm waiting for Film4 to have a Studio Ghibli season this year. I managed to see Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle last year, but those 3 are the only ones that I've seen.
The Wandering Poet: No, I'm not one for buying DVDs, pretty much like anything in life, those come under the "needless expense" category for me. >< Also I'm not much of a film watcher anyway, I just never seem to see any. It's years since I went to a cinema, and I can' afford anything like Netflix.
I went searching for you, this Tumblr post links to a lot of Ghibli films. I've not checked them all, but Totoro and Spirited Away both work.
everyone should check out jelly's profile. lurves for jelly

while y'all are there why not leave some well wishes for jelly <3
jellysundae: -- the version you saw on youtube might have been the Streamline dub; since Disney owns the rights(at least in the US), maybe that's why it was pulled...
Oh goody, I didn't entirely miss out on the Studio Ghibli convo...
Before I had even heard of them, I found a copy of Totoro in a video store, and it looked like a happy little kid's cartoon, which was what I really needed at the time...
The next thing I knew, I had the Totoro wallpaper, a plushie, and key fob.
I've seen every movie they've ever made, and yeah, I cried a lot too...
Actually, a lot of Japanese animated movies are of stunning quality, both storywise and artistically.
Grave of the Fireflies made me a misanthropist for a short while, I even made people watch it, just to make them see it all and cry over it like I did. No other film ever made me so angry at my fellow human beings.
Tokyo Godfathers was another outstanding piece, I think I must have cried through almost half of it, for various reasons...
onsenmark: I don't know :O It was a dubbed version, so could be?
VeraDark: Totoro did the same thing to me! He assimilated me! lol >< I mean I've only seen the film once, because the version I saw on Youtube was removed, and I just couldn't find another. Having found that link on Tumblr I'm holding off now, lol, anticipating the moment! But seeing it just that once was enough, and now I have a wallet, a plush, a mug and several pictures on my wall, plus the keychain that hummy sent me. <3
Sorry, all, my stinky internet dropped because it... rained.
Oh god, I wanted the backpack I saw once, it was shaped like Totoro, but it was too dear... I'm not so damned fetishistic with it as I was, because I have a mutable fan reflex, but I'd still buy a Totoro backpack.
