I think that shark cake might be a comment about the very destructive process of finning. But... why? Are they activists? Maybe PETA paid them to have a cake like that for a publicity stunt? Maybe it's not for an actual wedding? Like it's a publicity thing full stop?

It was part of an campaign for awareness of the practice of eating shark fin soup at weddings. It's my favorite cake in the world because I HATE SHARK FINNING. I love sharks so much.

@Maggs: Yes, this is what I was thinking. It's really disturbing, isn't it? The Chinese market is out of control when it comes to so many goods, but especially animal products. Really, everything is out of control... the building booms which pay no attention to safety concerns, environmental degradation...

Yeah, I get really upset by the use of animal parts in a medicinal way I mean, I get fish oil supplements, but even then I make sure they're sustainably fished, but that's pretty much the only one with any science backing it up. The rest is harmful superstition that is encouraging a lot of ecological damage.

Yeah, I hope that cake is at least homemade. Otherwise that is the most disappointing and cheap cake ever. It's not even frosted! D:
