So have you ever read a book and unexpectedly saw the author add in something that you like? Something that is not so common? Like just "manga" or a certain unknown band? It makes me cry with joy! (Not literally).

In one of them I've received anime and manga from is "Read My Lips" by Teri Brown and I believe "Pants on Fire" by Meg Cabot. Not sure on the Meg Cabot tho...

What about you?

What makes me laugh is when authors mention manga but use it inappropriately. I'll always remember that one Pendragon book mentioned that a character had an "anime hentai" poster in his room and that it was childish. I don't think the author realized that hentai is porn. ^^;;

I have to admit I think it's fun when authors make references that I get; it's like being a part of an inside joke.

Oh, that makes me laugh when the slip things in that you don't notice unless you analyze it.

I don't remember a lot, but one that stands out for me is Extras from the Uglies series. Mangaheads, anyone? And the whole thing takes place in Japan, so I find it hilarious that it has Japanese honorifics and what-not, while the characters are speaking "English" in the book. xD I don't know why I laughed so much, though.
