I'm just curious to see if anyone else has read this book. It's called A Grain of Wheat by Ngugi wa Thiong'o. As far as I've understood, this book takes place in Kenya just before Kenya receives its independence. If you are interested in reading it, based on what I've stated before, here is the summary on the back of my copy:
Quote:
The farmer Mugo, a hero of the villagers, is asked to make a speech honouring the memory of his friend Kihika, who was hanged by the colonial administrators
But there is much more to this book! Betrayal, be prepared to find tons and tons of betrayal.

I'm finding the book completely confusing, there are so many time changes and characters that I am getting lost. I know Mugo is the main, main character, but there are others like Kihika, or Mumbi, Gikonyo, Karanja and who knows how many more. If there is anyone who has read it and can summarize it enough for me to understand, please help me.
