Name: Mobius Timothy Blanchard

Height: 5’10”

Hair: Blond

Eyes: Hazel – Green/Brown

General Likes:
  • Reading
  • Quiet spaces
  • Small dogs
  • Morning runs
  • Red Wine
  • Rain

General Dislikes:
  • Loud noises
  • Bright Light
  • Large Dogs
  • Small children
  • Hoodies

Quirks:
  • Requires glasses
  • Bilingual – French/English

Personality:
A bit of an introvert. Or rather a lot of one. Despite this, he isn’t shy, and is quite willing to (rather forcefully) express his opinions. He enjoys reading science journals, and has an affinity for sci-fi horror. More than not he likes to think himself smarter than he usually is, and tends to be cocky about it in smaller settings. However, as the group gets larger, he’ll become quieter and quieter until he’s all by silent unless asked a direct question, or someone expresses a belief he believes in wrong or misdirected. He’s slow to trust, though if he’s impressed by something you’ve done, this changes quickly. He has a rather no-nonsense attitude in most things, both work-related and personal affairs.

Name: Adria Orici

Height: 5’8”

Hair: dark brown

Eyes: dark brown

General Likes:

Reading
Quiet spaces
Cats
Walks
White Wine
Gentle Rain

General Dislikes:

Loud noises, especially thunder
Bright Lights
Large Animals
Crowds
Drinks near books.

Quirks:

Time alert: Always aware of time passing, lateness, and scheduling
Prefers to always hear music in some way nearby.

Personality:
Introverted in the sense that she needs downtime with books to get energy. Has a love of music that is almost obsessive. She spends a lot of time drawing or reading, but knows that she can't let down those who depend on her so she gets out and goes walking to somewhat stay in shape. She likes hanging out with people as long as she is familiar with them. The more often she is around people, then the more she needs someone she is close to. The larger the group, the more uncertain she can be, but this can lead to her taking charge of "plans" and getting things going so that she can get out of said situation faster. She doesn't like showoffs, arrogance (even warranted), irresponsibility, or those who whine. She is also a gamer, so watch out when she is in "the zone." She likes to dress fashionably. Not the latest fashions, just very much stylish. Usually in black with silver trim or decor.

Name: Johan (pronounced yo-han) Kaiser

Height: 5'9"

Hair: medium dark brown with blue tips/streaks on the left side

eyes: yellow brown

General Likes:
people
candy
colorful things
black
sunny days

General dislikes:
having to make touch decisions or choose between two things
being labled
seeing people hurt

Quirks:

wears his own variety of style somewhere between adorable and goth
thinks french is the best language in the world

Personality:
He's very extroverted. He's friendly to everyone and his fun loving skittley happiness doesn't match his dark clothing choices. He's very loyal to a fault, but its hard to tell since he treats everyone with the same friendliness. He's also a terrible flirt, though he doesn't mean to be. He just loves skinship and being around people so he won't notice if he's being read as flirty. He's artistic by nature, easily impressed, and not much a leader. More happy being the team cheerleader. You won't think it to look at him, but he's very smart.

“Mobius Blanchard,” the young man offered, pausing at the front desk. Behind it, the woman lifted her ever-bored eyes and looked him over once. He rested his hands on the counter and stared right back over the rims of his glasses. With one of the world’s most weary sighs, she turned in her chair and poked around on her computer.

“Do you have a valid ID?”

He tucked a hand into the pocket of his pea-coat and produced his wallet, and from that produced his license. She took it and ran it under a scanner. While he waited to be processed, he took the opportunity to look around at the entry hall. People in uniforms walked in singles and twos, others in civilian clothes sat in chairs or spoke to officers on the other side of plexiglass walls.

There was a ‘snick’ as she set his license on the counter in front of him, and he quickly tucked it away.

“Here,” She handed him something else, some sort of a key card. “Down the hall, take the elevators to the fifth floor. They’ve been expecting you, Mr. Blanchard.”

“Thank you,” he tucked the key-card into his empty pocket and took to her directions.

Minutes later had him standing in a plush, albeit small waiting area that required the card to get into once exiting the elevator. The young man behind this counter looked a little more interested in his job.

“Mobius—“

“Mr. Blanchard,” The man chimed. “Key-card?” He took it when Mobius offered it and swiped it somewhere beneath the desk. “Thank you. Please have a seat, your other team members should be arriving soon. The higher-ups are still setting up the briefing room.”

“Thank you,” Mobius sighed through his nose and turned. The room was small, but he liked the furniture. It turned out it was both comfortable and functional, so he settled on a loveseat with a view of a wall-mounted television. He focused on that, removing his white coat and laying it over his knees, leaving him in a soft navy turtle-neck, the sleeves of which he shoved up to his elbows. Now all he had to do was wait.

Johan flounced into the building with enough energy to gather the attention of half the eyes within sight line of him. He was no child, but the bounce in his step, accompanied by chain rattles, could have fooled anyone. Johan was used to being the center of attention though. It was half the reason he dressed the way he did, though he liked his black attire regardless. He thought it suited his hair color and his pale skin. If it got more eyes on him, then all the better.

The bored lady behind the front desk looked less bored as he approached, but that might have been because he crossed his arms and leaned far over the desk to give her a brilliant grin. She looked skeptical of his ID, as if someone of Johan's temperament didn't belong in this building. He got his key card though and was up the elevator a minute later. The man behind the counter there did not react as less favorably, thankfully.

"Mr. Kaiser, you're the second to arrive," the man said nodded to the one already waiting in the small room. Johan took a second to compose himself. He wanted to make a good impression with his team members so he smoothed his black t-shirt out, ignoring the rainbow trim on the collar and sleeve. He untangled the chains around his waist and stepped into the room.

"Hi! I'm Johan," he said, immediately offering his hand to the man there.

"...As seen last week at the power center, wherein the tour guide explained..."

Mobius squinted a bit at the screen, eyes narrowing just a fraction. He was busy. The news was important. Why, why would someone interupt him. And with such glee. With a disgruntled noise he adjusted his glasses and looked over at the young man who had joined him in the waiting area. It took everything he had not to roll his eyes.

The young man looked like he was in high-school. Chains, rainbows? When Mobius imagined his team, he imagined older. Stronger, perhaps. He had a brain, he expected some military member, broad shoulders and arms like tree trunks. Or some form of super-spy, sleek and narrow with sharp eyes and a sharper tongue. Not...chains, and rainbows. So much for spec-ops. He just watched him absently, for a moment. Somewhere in the back of his mind he hoped the man would tell him he was joking and was just an intern being paid to bring him coffee.

Somehow he doubted it.

"...Hello," He said blandly and stood, laying his coat in his chair. He took the young man's hand regardless, propelled by manners. "Mobius. Are you one of my team mates?"

Johan wasn't one to get nervous, but under this man's scrutiny, he was getting that way. He tried to enter the room with some sense of decorum and friendliness, but from the look he got, he suspected he failed. The man looked at him as if expecting a joke. Johan didn't blame him. He was just as surprised he was picked for a team of...well anything. He was just about to drop his hand when the other got up and shook it. Johan's face broke out into a smile again.

"Yes, it seems like it. Nice to meet you Mobius," he said, shaking the man's hand enthusiastically. He glanced around the room just to make sure it was the two of them. He wondered who the third team member would be. "I'm not what you expected am I? I know, but don't worry about me. I'm not as stupid as I look. Actually, I'm a bit of a cyber wiz. You look smart too. Boy am I glad you're not one of those military types! Those guys hate me!" He smiled even as he made a jab at himself. He flopped down in one of the cozy chairs. Realizing how much he'd been prattling on already, his face fell for a second. So much for making a good impression. He sounded more like a kid desperate to please.

"Sorry. I talk a lot. Feel free to tell me to shut up whenever you want."

Mobius' eyebrows seemed to blast off, rising minutely over the course of the 'conversation' until his curl-wave-y hair nearly hid them. When his hand was released, he discretely ran it over his jeans before slowly sitting back down. The young man could talk. And bounce. His voice even bounced. Idly, he wondered what life would be like if he had that much energy.

Cyber wiz. Intelligent. Somehow he doubted a lot of this, but then, they wouldn't recruit some random kid, would they? If they would, he felt disinclined to be a part of this team. But he had faith in the establishment, and thus he figured someone like this had to have...some...benefits. He wouldn't be some stroppy...child? He hoped. He prayed.

Hated by military men. Gee, can't imagine why.

"My please, He mumbled more to himself. "No, you weren't what I had expected. Not even remotely close. Are you a hacker?" He lifted a brow at him, folding his legs so his ankle rested over his opposite knee. "I'm a researcher. I've been observing the habits of those who partake in the simulation. I don't mean to be rude, but I have to wonder. Were you recruited? Or did you apply?"

Johan brushed some of the longer blue strands of hair out of his face. He tried to cool it. No need to talk this much so early, even if he felt all the empty space in this room needed to be filled with noise. He did not sit in silence well. It never felt right to sit silently with another because it always felt awkward and unnatural. He didn't think Mobius disliked him too much though, considering he was still making conversation.

"Hacker? Sure. Anything to do with computers and the new techy stuff that's going around these days." He sat in the chair with his legs curled up in the seat, one of his combat boots hanging over the armrest. He had all the habits of a child, but he thought of himself as an adult despite that. He waved a hand in Mobius' direction. "Don't worry about being rude. I've heard it all before so you won't offend me by speaking your mind. I was recruited. You? I bet your research must be really cool. How much do you know about the team anyway? I wonder who else is in the team..." he added with a wistful sigh. It would be pretty awesome if the person walked in the door right after he said that and he turned to look that way.

He turned with him, watching the door for a moment. Then shook his head, looked at his shoes for a moment, and looked back up at the other young man -- Johan. He sighed through his nose.

Heaven help him.

"I know little more than you do," He admitted, relaxing back into his seat. He laced his fingers back together and settled them in his lap. "I don't know if my research is cool, but it's mine, at least. I enjoy it. As for the team...I know there's at least three of us. I know that we'll be under immense pressure once we download. I myself have never downloaded into the program, but I've seen the numbers." He tapped his thumbs together. "I know we'll be watched extremely closely once we leave it."

Something on the news drew his attention and he looked up at it, half divided between his new...team mate, and half between the news program about a recent high-speed chase. "You said you were tech-savvy. What do you think of the program?"

Late. She was so late. Adria slammed her car door and walked with a determined step across the parking lot. It was not just the traffic. Her mom would not get off the phone with her and she had been forced to hang up on her in mid-sentence. The traffic had been bad and detours due to a large accident had not helped. She had slowed down though while going past some of the scene. The cars had been smashed together like two giant hands had been playing with them. The extra law enforcement had her wondering if it was the reports of the rebels were tied to it.

Still, that was no excuse. Adria fumed inside at herself. She always left the house 20 minutes early. Always. To break from habit was incredibly stupid. Storming through the front doors and seeing the startled looks sent her way, Adria did a momentary mental pause. Automatically shifting into a smoother, confident stride that gave her black trench coat grace instead of suspicion got those looks to shift away from her. Good. She didn't need all that attention.

Reaching the desk, she presented herself with ID card extended, "Ma'am, I'm Adria Orici."

The lady took it and examined it. The picture was more professional with hair down and a more business suit. So she understood the frown at her current outfit and hair. However, there was no doubt that the picture and the person standing there was one and the same. So the lady gave her a key card. "That way please. Fifth floor where your team mates are already waiting. I'm sure your handlers will explain everything after you arrive." She looked away, no longer concerned with what was before her desk.

Pausing hesitantly, Adria wondered if she was supposed to just walk on back or wait for an escort. Then deciding someone would redirect her if she was in error, she made her way down the hall. With a moment of no one in sight, she let her confident mask dropped a moment. Cautiousness was something to value and she wanted to think things through if she could. Reaching the elevator, she pushed "Up" and stepped back until a DING was heard. Then she stepped inside and pushed "5".

It was only moments later that her mask was in place and she was entering a room where two others already sat. Eyes quickly took in that both were men, meaning she was the only female. Which made her shy inside. Lifting her chin and allowing her eyes to flash with determination to hide that, she stepped into the room, "You must be the rest of the team I presume? My name is Adria Orici." She offered her hand to the bouncier, if not more punkish, of the two as he was closest.

"Then we'll learn about the team together!" Even if the other male only half paid attention to Johan, he kept chatting with the same smile and no hesitation. It's not like he didn't feel bothered that he was less than loved at first. He told himself he didn't care though because he had all the confidence in the world that he could make anyone like him...eventually. "I know about the program. I think it's all sorts of fun what technology can do now. I downloaded! You have no idea how fun-" Johan was cut off from his rambling answers as the door opened again. He turned and jumped to his feet in the same excessive motion.

Eyes running over the woman, he nodded in acceptance. He was happy there would be a woman on the team. Women accepted him quicker than men for some reason, though Johan felt happy being around either gender. He was comfortable with everyone. "Hello Adria! I'm Johan. It's really great to meet you," he said as he shook her hand. He pulled away his hand and waved it toward Mobius to introduce him as well, forgetting for a second that most people would take offense to that. "That guy is Mobius."

Adria nodded in mute surprise at the boyish behavior of the punk... er... Johan. He was more childish than she had first thought, though it was nice to have someone around to break up the tension. It snapped and was gone within seconds of Johan's voice. She could see how a little of him would go a long ways though and hoped they didn't get stuck in an elevator together only to have the electricity go out. "Nice to meet you Johan."

She turned and focused on the second person in the room. More passive than Johan for sure. He seemed almost too passive, if not preoccupied. Surely the news wasn't more important than her, a fellow team member. Then again, she had acted that way when she was gaming. It was her intense mind concentration, the gaming strategies, and familiarity with virtual worlds that had gotten her recruited. So she had better give Mobius some slack. Striding up to him, she reached out her hand hoping that she hid her shyer side well. "Nice to meet you Mobius."

The kid never stopped talking. He just went on and on. Mobius had some minor input here and there, when a pause of a question was devoted to him, but other than that he 'hm'd' and nodded when it was pertinent. At least it kept the kid entertained.

The door opened when the news shifted to coverage over a rather dramatic wreck, that had Mobius frowning. It wasn't the first of that type, and he was starting to wonder if his studies on the behaviors of people who have downloaded had anything to do with it. Though, it didn't surprise him his young counterpart had already been into the program--he had the personality for it.

The woman swanned in and he turned away from the television, lifting a brow at both Johan's bouncing leap to his feet, and her rather demanding aura. At least she seemed...authoritative. He stood himself while they exchanged pleasantries and brushed off his khakis, then made quite a bit of a face at being addressed as 'that guy'.

"Mobius Blanchard," He offered her a hand politely, looking half put upon and half interested, depending on which one of the two drew his attention. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Adria."

Smiling at his stately response, Adria felt a little more confidence in this team that had been put together. Three was a good number. Easy to work with. If the rumors were true, they would need to be able to work with each other well to face off what the rebels had managed. Taking back her hand, Adria looked between Johan and Mobius. They were incredibly different from each other. Johan might be the hardest for her to deal with since he was energy incarnate. However, he would be easier to talk to possibly than Mobius. Time would tell.

Now that they were here though, she wondered where their handlers were. "It is a pleasure, truly, to meet both of you. Is there a meeting room somewhere that we are to go to? Or... are we waiting for more people here?" She didn't expect them to know the answers. Yet, she felt inclined to ask. Because time was ticking as they stood here that could be spent studying and training. How kind of time to never stop, even to smell the roses.

With a motion at one of the empty seats, Mobius settled back in his own, gently moving his coat out of the way. She seemed confident, and that he could handle. She also seemed mature, which he could handle even better. And she was clearly fond of Johan already, judging by how her attention somewhat gravitated towards him. Honestly, that was a huge bonus. She may be able to act as a translator between him and Mobius himself.

"I don't know," he admitted and crossed his ankles, hands in his lap. "When I arrived, the secretary informed me they were preparing the debriefing room. But it wouldn't be too far-fetched for them to watch us interact, either, before they invite us in. See if we can...congeal, as a team."

Biting back a smile, Adria walked over and took a seat. "If they wish us to interact and to view our reactions, then I am all for that." Except that she had arrived late. Not the way she wanted to start this out. "So how long were you all... waiting... before I arrived?" Adria had to admit it, it was bothering her. Time was important and it killed her that they might have been waiting long for her to come. They probably thought her as a drama queen wanting to make a grand entry.

Shifting her gaze between the two of them, Adria realized their reactions would be revealing of their character. Something she was very interested in. Afterall, they would possibly be working together for a long time. So the more quickly she figured them out, the better it would be for them all.

After introductions were finished, Johan flopped back into the chair. Or he tried to sit with a measure of adultness because these other two were obviously more adult than him. He figured he failed with this motion though considering he misjudged how far away the chair was and sunk down backwards into it with his legs kicking up slightly in the air. He smiled at the other two because he wasn't the least bit disturbed that someone could be watching how they interacted.

"I think we'll get along just fine," he said with a small pout. "We're talking right. I can get along with anyone." Which was completely true. He turned to Adria with a comforting smile and reached out to pat her hand. "Don't worry. We weren't waiting long. I'm sure it's not a big deal, but I hope they come and take us to the debriefing room soon because my curiosity is killing me! I want to know the details of this team."

Mobius let them talk and briefly glanced up at the televisions scrren. And then wrinkled his nose, looking back out the glass doors towards the young man who had taken their key cards. The young man was looking back with a big grin and wiggled a remote control.

Perfect.

Adria's question drew his attention and he looked over at her, thoughtful. Before he could open his mouth, Johan was babbling, and it took every ounce of himself not to sigh at him. But he didn't, so he gave himself social points. See, see, he could be cordial. At least the kid had energy. God knows they'd need it.

"He's right, not long," Mobius agreed, lacing his fingers in his lap and relaxing back into his chair. "And I don't think that much matters, as they haven't called for us yet."

As if on cue, a door on the other end of the tiny waiting room opened to a woman. About mid-forties, her dark hair starting to pepper with grey. It was up in a severe bun, and matched the perfect, straight lines of a charcoal grey pant-suit. A pale dove-grey shirt beneath, complete with silver tie. The tight lines of her posture had Mobius sitting up a little straighter, sensing authority.

She was quiet, for about five seconds, sizing each of them up. As if she could dissect them down to their potential with just her eyes. Then, with an extravagant motion, she pushed the door open wide and held it with her hand, exposing a long hallway.
"This way, please. We'll begin shortly."

Mobius stood and shrugged into his white coat, folding the collar down so it sat properly flat. "That's us then."

Before Johan could continue talking, the door opened and a rather severe woman walking in. He fell into unusual silence, though it took all his resistance not to visibly squirm under her gaze. It looked like she was sizing them up and he doubted she thought much of him. As confident as he was that he could prove himself to anyone, this kind of person was the kind that made him most nervous with their straight cut clothes and personality that sat completely opposite of him.

Johan followed Mobius into the hall, sticking close to him because he was far more likable than the severe woman. He also considered clinging to Adria. How well could that go? He found himself chuckling at the scenario in his head despite feeling that the atmosphere was very tense. "Off to Oz..." he whispered under his breath.

Hearing the Oz comment caused a smirk to cross Adria's face. Johan was definitely going to be a fun guy. He had a good sense of humor she liked. If only he didn't talk so much. Her hand still felt warm where he had touched her in his attempt to relieve any anxiety she had over being last. Following the two though, she couldn't help but compare them. Mobius was much more calm and stable. Something that they would need, she was sure. Maybe, just maybe, it was a good thing that they were all so different.

Walking with her chin up and steps clicking firmly down the hall, she did have one thought. She felt like she was the rearguard making sure the kids didn't get into trouble. Hopefully that was just a flashing thought and not reality. When they reached a door that was particularly wide and thick, everyone paused as the woman leading them briefly had an eye scan and thumbprint check. The door made a click sound that alerted them that it was now unlocked. The woman opened it and held it open for them, "Please walk in and take a seat."

Peaking past Johan and Mobius, Adria saw that it was similar to a theater and NASA's main room. The chairs were soft cloth that folded up on their own when you were sitting in them. There was several rows that staggered up so everyone could see forward. At the bottom was a large holographic table and then screens covered the front wall. It looked like they were going to be very thorough in their debriefing. Fighting down the sudden hesitancy she felt, Adria gritted her teeth and reminded herself to act confident. The world of gamers and real life were the same, you just saw the face of those you were talking to in real life. Nothing different at all.

Mobius took the time of their brief walk to observe the hallway, however boring it might have been. He counted three security cameras. Thorough, at least. Good.

Once exposed to the debriefing room, however, he did have to take pause. This was it, where it all came to light. This is where the three of them were, most likely, chosen. This was the central hub of the origins of his research. He felt both elated and wary.

This program, it was a beautiful kind of monster. It erased terra-conflict, war on the earth, and removed army casualties. But it also posed huge threat, as the rebels, whomever they were, were making clear. Whosoever controlled the Datahub controlled the world, fate, people. Everything.

He took his time, watching the woman walk away to speak with whom he guessed would be their bosses. Military officials and diplomats, technicians who worked with the program and it's hardware. He wanted to speak with them, ask them about this and that. Were the downloaded military altered in any way into their download? Did the risk-free environment change the behaviors of seasoned military officials? Did they make decisions they wouldn't make if their soldiers would lose their lives rather than be ejected from a cybernetic war? He had some answers, it was his field after all, but he had never been able to verify them with someone who actually controls the 'game' of war within.

Sit down, right. Right, they'll tell you. He adjusted his coat around himself, tugging the collar closer around his neck (he felt chill, though weather that was nervous or the room he wasn't positive) and moved towards one of the rows of seats closer to holographic tableau. He cast a brief glance at his team-mates, prompting them to follow. They'd need to be closer, considering they were one of the main reasons for this meeting.

"Shall we?"

Johan's eyes widened as they stepped into the room. He glanced this way and that, taking in every detail from the screens to the many chairs. It seemed too large of a room for just three of them, but it gave him the chance to pick where he wanted to sit without any hinderance. He felt his tension ease away among the tech of the room--something that only drew him in like lamplight. He grabbed Adria's hand first, then caught up to Mobius and snatched up his hand as well. "Let's go sit in the very front!" he exclaimed and dragged the other two to the front middle without another word.

"The briefing will start in a minute. Please direct your attention to the screen," Someone said.

Flopping down, Johan eyed the people in the room and whispered conspiratorially. "Where else would we look?"

Feeling herself dragged foreward startled her and it was only her willpower that kept the yelp from forming. That same willpower kept her from planting her feet and grabbing anything close by. If he wanted the front, then she would have to swallow and bear it. Oh the front... the horror of it all. However, they couldn't debate or talk it over. The briefing was about to start and she was already there. Staring down at the chair. Then taking it with as much decorum as she could muster, Adria sat. Crossed her legs. And tried to look vaguely wise and knowledgeable.

Johan sure was taking this... with enthusiasm. And now that she was seated, it wasn't so bad to be here. "How about at the exit as if we might not take the assignment. See how hard they try to keep us." Glancing at Mobius, she shrugged. Having someone drag them about wasn't so bad surely. "At least we are seated now."

He went from meandering leisurely (as leisurely as he could considering) to being tugged along, very nearly knocking shoulders with Adria as their over-excited team mate tugged them like fish on a hook. He made a grunt of a displeasurable noise, but allowed it to happen.

It wouldn't do well to make enemies. And if he was honest, he couldn't blame the enthusiasm. He was just about as excited as Johan, for once, and didn't fault him for the external production of it. He, himself, was just...more naturally subdued.

Once they arrived at their seats, he freed himself and adjusted his coat, attempting to retain a level of decorum. He turned to look around the room, then bent to unfold his seat. Adria's voice drew is attention as he settled into his seat.

"Unless it's one of those offers that we can't refuse," he offered, in an attempt at a joke. It felt a little flat, most likely, so he trucked right along. "Is there a chance you'd turn them down?" He did keep his voice pitched low, though, just to keep the conversation between the three of them. Now in the debriefing room, he felt a kinship with the other two of them. A camaraderie in being 'new', of not knowing what everyone else in the room know. That, at least, would bind them. And hopefully they would only strengthen that bond as they trained and ventured into their new jobs.
