I teach music in elementary school - so I teach PreK through 6th grade general music, beginning and intermediate strings, two choruses, and a percussion ensemble :P

Yes they are, unfortunately. We are one of two counties in my state that still has 6th grade in elementary school instead of middle school. They are so hormonal, they need to be in the middle school. Behavior wise, they fit in better with middle school than elementary - I definitely feel it will benefit the kids if they get moved to the middle schools. But I don't make those decisions haha XD

My main instrument is my voice - I'm a singer. But I can also play violin, bass, a bit of piano (I'm not that good), recorder, flute, various percussion, etc.

I agree, 6th graders are better suited in middle school.

Oh my, you play many instruments, including my two favorites, the violin and piano! Absolutely beautiful, the one I play is the piano!
Singing its wonderful, I love singing and I believe I do it well, but I'm so shy about it that no one has heard me.

That's p. interesting. I don't think I could be a music teacher 'cause after years of playing, I still couldn't tell one note from te other... /deep sigh.

I sing all the time :P We do a lot of singing and playing various percussion (both pitched and unpitched instruments) in elementary general music :P

You play the piano? Probably better than me - I'm really not very good D:

LOL I'm sure you know more than you think? XD

However - my state is having us do mandatory testing in all subject areas this year - which includes music in elementary school. I have some kids that will do fine - and some kids who, no matter how many times we'll go over certain material, just aren't musical and will probably never get it. D: Just like I'm not very good at science. But they expect ALL my students to be able to know music on a level of college musicians. OTL

@Dysie: That reminds me of elementary school in Miami! I remember learning the notes by saying something like "George Bush Drives Ferraris" XD

@Maria: Singing is really a lot of fun, maybe I would've overcome my shyness, had my parents let me take chorus in elementary school~

Well, you play a lot of instruments, which is really great! Yes, the piano is the only one I play, but I play it really well :3

I wish I was like that. I am so the opposite. I normally get bored and work on a different one.

Yes, allergies are really making a lot of people sneeze as of late. There's been a lot pollen all weekend and last week and we got the sniffles, especially in the northern Panhandle

Panhandle? Do you live in Texas? People have been complaining about allergies a lot here. I'm glad it's no problem for me.
