What job are you in, again dear? It's very strange that in this day and age, you weren't allowed to wear pants before this.

Yes, in my rain gear just in case!
With fickle spring weather you can never be to sure!

A chainsaw would be so cool. My favorite character (well within the top 3) from a manga series is a death god and he uses a chainsaw instead of a scythe.
If they made a chainsaw I would have to make an avatar like him. xD

You know, I just had my first Peanut butter and Jelly Sandwich today.

Oh my, your first *ever* peanut and butter sandwich?
What were your parents thinking of? I believe that must be something like child abuse to never give your child a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

My mother tried, but I didn't like fruit when I was very young (complete opposite now) so I didn't like Jams or Jellies. So My mom made me peanut butter and Butter sandwiches XD

Well the other morning my grandpa was having his toast and he puts cream cheese, peanut butter, and jelly on it. So I tried it.
So for lunch today I made my first ever PB&J (technically it's jam, but...).
It's really good. I can't get over it. ^_^

Oh, that would be delicious with cream cheese on it.

Sometimes I put a regular slice of cheese on my PB & J sandwich. It's very good.

Hello Granny, everyone -- I'm here for a few hours this afternoon.

Nice rainy, spring afternoon. Nice because it's not horribly rainy, just enough to make the grass and birds perk up.

Peanut butter. Jelly. ._. No comment. ._. I do like a little jam, honey or marmalade though. (I have a jar of orange marmalade in my fridge right now. Good thing that new roomie of mine has no idea how good it tastes ...) Mint Jelly is okay with appropriate meat sometimes.

It's a bit mild like apple jelly, but really doesn't belong on bread.

goodness, dream. that's insanity.
what kind of jam did you use? :3

oh dear. i'm sneezing a lot and i hope it's not because of allergens in the merino yarn i'm setting.
i got impatient and didn't clean it or card it very much before i started spinning it up. D:!

I do knit, but I've never been to Hill Country Weavers. I'll have to go take a look. Do they sell all the equipment for spinning your own yarn?

My mother spins, knits, etc. as well. For a while, she was collecting hair shed from her dogs and my sister's collies. She was going to make a scarf... seriously. And people wonder about me!

That's interesting, Elmira!

When I was younger, we had keeshounds. They had lovely silky greyish fur. Very long. We used to brush them all the time, and would get bags of fur. I always thought it would be intersting to use that for a sweater or something!

I'm not sure if she's actually finished anything with it other than washing and carding. She has a couple of wheels and holds demos at the Ren Faire and a Dickens festival that they hold annually.

hill country weavers is a dream, granny. it's a little expensive, but most of the yarn they have is high-quality and they do have good discounts sometimes. you can give them your email and they'll send notices about great sales every few weeks.
i remember getting hand carders and a drop spindle there, but i'm not sure if they have them anymore. you can always ask.
they always have various fiber to spin in the back room where the classes are held.

speaking of fur, dream keeps wanting me to spin her cat's fur. (the fluffiest orange tabby you've ever seen.)

oh, renfaires.
i really need to go to the next texas one. @_@

Where do you get your fur? (Besides Dream's cat, that is)

I've seen a number of people sell roving on ebay and etsy. I even thought about writing a paper on e-commerce from an anthropological perspective and study the supply chain weavers use online. I thought it was interesting how that practice is widely accepted now, when one used to have their own animals to obtain roving from - or would obtain it from other people in their locale.

Roving - is that what it's called?

I can see there is a whole new hobby area that I need to look into!
