Clockie - check out KawaiiHannah's tutorials - the shading tutorial starts with basic shapes and it could really help bring your bubbles to life!

Bubbles, especially bubbles, can be very tough. I know, I've attempted dew. xD
It's hard for me to explain how I did it with words and I only achieved this with lots of constant feedback and criticism. I would recommend checking out kawaii hannah and also looking up specifically how to pixel bubbles. I guaranteee you there will be tutorials and reference pics out there.

Oh my heavens that's beautiful! *o*
Hmm...I see nothing wrong with it at the moment, but the Acer in me says that there should be a gold trim along the bottom of the dress. Try to make a separate copy with a gold trim and compare them.

That's why you make a copy. That way if it turns out to be a mistake, then you'll still have this fab version, still!

I like it but don't at the same time...I'm gonna have to sleep on it. I don't know if it takes away from the elegance of the dress...

Clock understands that.
it's hard cause it balances out the gold on top.

My inner-ACer's still got it! xD
Anyway It's looking great so far! However the light distribution is perfect with the top trim and the leaf and yet the light is looking a little dull by comparison on the lower trim. I would recommend adding a little more light on it.

I just had an idea. It's a very rough one and can be tweaked however if you consider it. How about a trim like this instead of a trim all around the bottom? It would really just be a trim for show, but the idea seemed cool in my mind.

SO MUCH BETTER CLOCKIE - looking really realistic :D
@Demo - like this?
---------- Post added 01-05-2013 at 03:49 AM ----------
PS - clock - maybe try bubbles of varying sizes? Since not all bubbles would be the same size in real life..

Yes yes like that! I feel that the dress looks even more elegant and it works with the top trim that seems to begin from somewhere and then spiral down. Ultimately it's up to you because it's your dress and I think it still looked good without the trim.

I am not touching the design... XD
But I am touching on shading here.
You seemed to be ONLY doing dithering in a checker pattern.
You notice the tutorial thread, one of the section is something like dithering pattern?
0%, 20%, 50%... so on?
You would use 50% pattern most of the time, but when shading bigger surface, you might need to gradually blend in other %'s pattern.
The the curve shade on the hem corners, you dither it to being flat/squarey again. XD lol. Maybe refer to Menewsha's ballgown to see how the dither done?
Currently, the dithering looks.... sharp and pointy to me. On the bigger folds on the middle, the left side and bodice is fine.
About Demomo's advice. It is a good color balance for the gold trim.
But you have to be careful in terms of using trim. Especially when you join the trim up to the brooch. It kind of looks like it is draping downward and give the impression of heavy, against the flowy you want. Actually, I was imagining it in several layers like multi layer half transparency dress underneath to make up the full shape. XD The gold trim kind of suggesting a one layer of material (potentially thick) wrap around.
Mariaria could do some research on embellishment.
Gold trim is a good embellishment, whether it fits your intention would be another thing.
I like the gold trim, but definitely not as flowy as I imagined. Up to you I am fine. XD

Okay - so I will mess with the bigger patches in the morning lol
I want to get this done before I'm off break and this is my last weekend - school starts monday!
As for the gold trim - I think it's a great idea but I'm going to focus on the original design right now. Maybe later I can create another dress utilizing the trim. But I want to focus on getting the dithering right first D:

I started a cloak too btw - definitely needs work and I won't be doing that until the dress is done XD

I really like the gold trim.
And since we are on the design topic... I already have this in mind, but was focusing on shape and shade.
Your gold leaf... what material is it?
It is too big a piece to cling on. I mention you would need a bigger brooch, but it could be a few smaller leaves building up the space. I meant the grapevine as in, a swirly stalk with a few leaves.
... Yes, I know I like swirly things, like the Noelle.
Your flowy theme suppose to be light and small, smaller detail would fit better as people are hardwire to believe that small means light. see?
