I'm sure he would love a cardboard scratch pad for his cat. You can get them for $10 at Target and Walmart and they come with a free bag of cat nip.

There's also a smaller one for $5, but it's too small IMO.

That's probably not going to fit in an easy flat rate box, lol. Good idea tho.

I don't know where your budget stands, but know for an ex, who was really into art, told me about his favourite artists, and so I made a painting in one of the styles, and had it made into a huge poster for his wall. You can use shutterfly, they're really cheap.

I'd probably throw in a few packets of hot cocoa. Maybe some with different flavors like peppermint and caramel. Other than that, I'm not exactly sure what else I would put in there. I'm sure he'll like whatever you give him. I know I'd be pretty psyched to get a care package no matter what was in it just because cared enough to use a bit of their time on me. ^_^

He has a cat? throw in some catnip. Few things are more fun than watching a cat on nip.

Chocolates. Guys like candy too. Maybe some cologne he might like. A friendship bracelet. A lot of guys wear them now. You can also buy a little memory chip and load a bunch of pictures of yourself and your family and friends along with some unusual storm cloud pictures you can find on the internet. Little flash drives or memory chips are fairly inexpensive now and you can put a lot on them.

Maybe some stationary that he can use the jell pens and mechanical pencils on, as well as write you back, or a calligraphy book, because that is a kind of art that many people could overlook so it might be new to him. :)

When I think care package, I think basics - deodorant, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, nail clippers, soap, shampoo - that kind of stuff, maybe with a favourite scent of his. :)

Add chocolates if this hasn't already been mentioned. And chocolates are even on sale in a lot of places because it's after Christmas, so you can get really good chocolate boxes cheap. They're not stale either. I thought they would be but they aren't. We got our sister in law a box of caramel turtles and I tried one. They're still delicious.

Handmade stuff is adorable to give to someone you like. That's cool that you're doing that...

@whistful - they make mechanical art pencils that have the different thicknesses and darkness. They're kind of expensive but really neat. Drafting pencils work insanely well too, but again, expensive.

If he likes a certain candy bar, maybe you could put some of them in the package. The way to a man is through his stomach. haha.;)
