Colbie's eyes narrowed as she sighted down the scope of her rifle. The target was just finishing getting dressed and ready to go for his run, meaning that she would have her shot soon.

Steve finished stretching out and glanced back at Bucky. "Coming?" he asked with a little grin. Sam was already downstairs waiting, which Steve knew because he'd already gotten half a dozen increasingly teasing texts.

"I'm coming," Bucky replied around the hair tie between his teeth. He finished tying his hair back and gave his head a quick shake to make sure it was secure. "Sam knows he's going to be left in the dust, right?"

"He knows. He's secretly a glutton for punishment," Steve said with a wicked little grin. "He just can't get enough, apparently." He headed for the elevator, knowing Bucky would be right behind him.

Bucky snorted.

"Well, let's go show him up, then," he said. He followed Steve to the elevator.

It didn't take long to meet up with Sam. They spent a few moments razzing each other good-naturedly. Which Colbie took advantage of, shifting her position just slightly and taking aim at Steve. She aimed at his heart, waited a beat, and pulled the trigger.

Bucky saw the flash of light on the rooftop and moved before he even knew he was acting. He slammed his shoulder into Steve, knocking him to the side just before the bullet would have caught him in the heart.

The bullet still hit Steve in the shoulder. Not fatal, and just one shot wouldn't keep him down long. But he did still hit the ground.

Colbie growled to herself and lined up another shot. It was harder with people reacting and civilians running around, though, so it took her longer than normal to even get a brief clean sighting.

Bucky quickly gauged how far away the sniper was and took off running. He had to neutralize the threat.

"Bucky!" Steve called, watching him go. Sam was applying pressure to the wounds, and the tower security team was already responding.

Colbie saw the Soldier and had a moment of sheer panic (which she would not tell her handlers about). Time to go. She slung the rifle over her shoulder so she could retreat and regroup.

Barnes snarled under his breath as the sniper took off, and he followed. The assassin was quick, but Barnes seemed to have the advantage of a much longer stride, so he was able to catch up and tackle the sniper to the ground.

Colbie rolled with the tackle, managing to shake him and get to her feet again. She wouldn't be able to take the Soldier on her own, she knew. But she needed to go report. All she needed to do was evade him, or disable him long enough to get away. That in mind, she drew the knife strapped to her thigh, watching him warily.

Barnes growled and tackled her again. He wasn't going to let this one get away, not after she'd taken a kill shot at Steve. He worked on getting his metal arm around her to get her pinned.

Colbie squirmed and fought back, making it as difficult as possible for him. But as well trained as she was, she wasn't on the level of the Winter Soldier. Especially not after one shoulder got dislocated, leaving that arm temporarily useless. It only took moments after that for her to find herself face down on the ground, held in place.

Barnes had his knee on her back, holding her down.

"Who sent you?" he hissed. "What is your mission?"

Colbie hissed a little as she was manhandled, testing his grip to see if she could get loose.

"Steven Rogers is a threat to my asset," she hissed. "He needs to be eliminated."

"Who are you?" Barnes demanded keeping her pinned down. "Who sent you on this mission?"

"Asset," Colbie ground out, because her handlers didn't even know she still knew her name; like hell she was giving it to him. "Phantasm." She bit back a little yelp when he put pressure on her dislocated shoulder, but didn't manage to stifle the sound completely.

A code name, that was interesting. Only the extremely skilled assets ever got code names, the rest only had designation numbers. Careful to keep her securely in hand, Barnes took his knee off of her back and hauled her to her feet.

"You're coming with me," he said.

As soon as she was upright, Colbie tried to escape again. Her chance of success was low, but she had to try anyway.

"Need some help?" Sam asked, watching the two. He'd sent Steve back inside after ignoring the blonde's protests and figured he should check on Bucky. He wasn't expecting to find the shooter still alive, honestly.

Barnes was expecting the escape attempt, and ruthlessly jabbed her bad shoulder to get her to stop.

"Situation under control," he muttered to Sam. "Threat is neutralized."

"Yeah, just don't neutralize her all the way," Sam said, frowning as he watched them. Something about her movements reminded him of Bucky, before they'd broken the programming. "We've got a secure room inside for her."

Colbie tensed at that, her eyes widening with panic. She knew that would not end well for her, either because they would eliminate her, or her handlers would.

Barnes nodded and brought Phantasm inside, making sure she didn't get away. He made sure she got put into the secure room, and that the electronic lock engaged before he was finally okay with walking away to check on Steve.

Steve was fine, as he'd told everyone at least a dozen times. The bullet wound was already healing, and he didn't need anything else, just a bit more time.

"Hey Buck," he said, smiling and taking another sip of his coffee.

Barnes went straight over to him to examine the wound.

"It was meant to be a kill shot," he said shortly.

"I guessed that," Steve said, holding still and letting Bucky examine him. "But it wasn't, and I'm fine. Even this will be gone in a few hours."
